Absolutely horrible. It was basically just some creepy dude's backyard. From the moment we arrived, he bombarded us with stories of his messy million dollar divorce, attempted to push his political beliefs onto us, and displayed many signs of misogyny. Multiple times he claimed to be running a "sociological experiment" on us. The bathroom was a dirty and claustrophobic RV bathroom (we were not allowed to access any other parts of the RV). The "shower" was merely a garden hose on the ground. The unnerving setting resulted in probably the worst sleep of our lives, and we were packed up and out of there first thing in the morning. Truly a textbook ripoff. First and LAST time booking through Hipcamp.

The place was quite, but super dirty, empty beer bottles and trash everywhere. No hot water or showers as stated. It doesn’t look like anything that was shown on the pictures.
If you are a BIPOC person, I highly caution you renting this place. The hate against BIPOC folks was clear.

If you are just looking for a quiet place to camp for A Night, this is not a bad place to stay, but keep in mind that none of the stuff in the pictures are real and the campground is full of trash and unorganized. Tony, the host, is a nice guy very outgoing person we had few interesting conversations. I don’t mind going back there since I already know what it is.

We camped two weekends in a row. The place was very quiet and had full hookups. We left all day and i didn't worry one bit about anyone messing with my trailer. The first weekend was too windy for a fire the second was great and we had a nice fire.

Upon arrival my friend and I were a little skeptical of the grounds. We were able to find a nice secluded area amongst some small trees and brush. We moved a picnic table and arranged some rocks to make ourselves a nice little campfire ring and had a decent site put together. Toni came a little later in the evening to talk to us about the camp in ‘prime’ time when his buddies come with rvs and dirt bikes. Overall we made out alright, but is definitely not worth 40 bucks to just camp in all honesty. Considering when you camp at a national forest for 20 bucks get a nice campsite along with a table, metal campfire ring and normally toilets and running water. And at toni’s property the only bathroom we saw was a porta potty that was probably not cleaned since it’s arrival.
Also, the peacocks at the entrance were pretty cool but didn’t do the cool feather thing.

Honestly this place is a Gem. Went there’s once now I’m always going back and it’s great place for the summer as well, nice Lake many things to do! And if you like off roaring that’s the place to be !

I DEFINITELY recommend this place, especially if you like to go off-roading. Toni the host is a spectacular host very helpful and welcoming, he also give a lot of good insight from the area. Toni was also very laid back, so we could put music a little louder he didn’t mind! All I have to see this is a MUST!!!!

The host was nice, sunrise was beautiful, the stars were amazing. But once you looked away from the sky you found yourself feeling like you were in a junk yard. No disrespect to the owner it’s his land so he can have it look however he wants but just not ideal for camper. We just stayed over night and wouldn’t stay much longer. I know he had some trouble with the last group before us leaving a mess. Once all that is cleaned up I’m sure it will be a decent place. Drastically over priced however. Wish the owner nothing luck.

This was a shit hole. I was so disappointed. This was not at ALL what was represented in the pictures. Trash everywhere. Literally piles of trash. The water was a drip hose, no way to take a shower. The campsites are not maintained and it looks abandonnes. The pictures are LYING, they are from two years ago. Paying 40$ for this is an absolute joke, you are literally sleeping in a garbage dump.
I’m sorry to give bad review because Toni was nice to wait for us at late arrival, but I want following people to know what they are getting into.
We arrived late at night so we stayed but had we come during the day we would’ve turned around.

Upon arrival, Tony greeted us with a warm smile and the comment of “don’t worry, the site is empty because I’m kind of an a** hole”. We thought it was a little weird but we like late night adventures into the dark so we followed him willingly to his dilapidated junk yard he calls a camp ground.
At the junk yard... sorry... camp ground, there was a helicopter circling overhead with its spotlight on. Keith, after assuring he’d willingly head canoe any intruder by using his special expertise as an Army Ranger, decided to give us a safety brief about the dangerous reptiles in the desert that could harm us. I learned that if I tried to molest a side winder snake I’m an idiot and deserve to die. Fair enough, but weird flex. After a short conversation about he planned on pushing the Yakuza off his land and getting the rest of the property we were warmly settled in. Our view of the Pooh covered porta potty and the trash pile of baby diapers were nicely augmented by the aroma of the nearby marijuana farm. Ah, the serenity.
We had a nice conversation going when Tony came barging through the site, telling the sherif on the other end of his phone that he intended to kill a guy who might be tress passing on his site. I was just feeling blessed to be a part of it all. About an hour later we heard around 10 gun shots... now the party was started. After getting a restful sleep we woke up to the rest of the property that was lit by the warm morning sun. This included abandoned grills, an RV, a harem of peacocks a rogue German Shepard and the rest of the props from Mad Max. Anyways, we won’t come back, unless it’s to become the main character on a murder podcast episode, but it was a great experience either way. Thanks Tony.

I booked a place to go camping for a couple nights and the pictures looked pretty nice and reviews seemed positive but when I showed up to this place I turned right around and left. Nothing in the description was accurate except for its location. All the amenities were either not yet available or overstated. The property is riddled with TRASH. Actual trash piles, broken glass, old bottles, bags, broken chairs, broken trampoline. Pipes and wiring laying about. Everything was covered in leaves and cobwebs and again, trash. This is absolutely not what I paid for and would not have paid anything to stay there. I honestly didn't feel safe. Everything was overgrown and there were branches and debris in all of the firepits so none were even able to be used.

Very good for my first official Hipcamp experience. Host was very informative and helpful, also a lot of great recommendations! They’ve started planting trees to get more shade in the area which will be amazing. Excited to see the entire place once they are all grown.
Directions may be a little hard at first but don’t overthink it, then you’ll be alright. 👍🏽

The Host Toni was awesome and very attentive, making sure we had everything or if needed anything. We got campsite for 2 days but unfortunately did not stay second night it was def a rugged camping site bare minimum and lots of bugs if privacy and bare minimum camping is what your looking for this is it for sure very quiet peaceful and simple!

Toni is great guy who helped us get our car after getting stuck in sand because we went the wrong way. DO NOT GO PASS THE HORSES on your way out of the campsite. Avoid the path with sand. The location is very private and he’s super communicative and responsive. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to camp as you’re traveling through the area!

I had a wonderful single evening visiting Toni's site. Currently it's off season and needs a tiny bit of cleanup, but Toni has his reasons (and they are valid IMHO). Looking forward to returning for more than one night and exploring some of the OHV options and taking at least one photo of the peacock! (I couldn't find it but definitely heard it)

This was our first experience with Hipcamp and were were delighted. We needed a cheap place to sleep in our van near Barstow on the first night of a road trip to the Southwest. We've driven down that stretch if I-15 and seen little dwellings in the distance. It was nice to be invited into Toni's compound with its wide variety of projects, friendly horses and beautiful peacocks. The camping area is thoughtfully arranged, well equipped (including some games) and is probably going to continue to evolve since Toni seems very industrious and hospitable. We were only there for a quick night's sleep but this seems like the kind of place one could stay a few days to play in the desert, especially for those looking to escape the madness of over-touristed areas. Easy to get to, and the horses were cool :) Provided great recommendations for Mexican food. We didnt end up staying there in the end though.

Toni was very friendly and open. He was very welcoming by guiding us to his campsite. He answered all our questions and gave us a one on one tour. Hes son meet us at the gate to let us in. We felt very safe there. Will stay again and would highly recommend it.

Osr Campground is a place to enjoy a unique experience right off the 15 Hwy out in Barstow. If your looking for a place to ride your quads or dirt bikes, want to take a shooting course, party with a big group of friends around a giant fire pit or simply get away from it all this is your place. The camp host Toni will make sure you have everything you need and has no problem giving you a tour of his land and has great stories to go along with every part of it.
For us it was the perfect pit stop on our way to Death Valley. We enjoyed the quite place to park our camper with the connivence of the 15 only about a mile way. We built a fire right next to our campsite and cooked some hot dogs and awed at the stars in the sky.

We thoroughly enjoyed our desert stay at OSR. Toni was in-between seasons and we were the first HIPcampers so he was in work with modifications to the sites....The plans he has looks like it wont take long and it will be fantastic when done.
