Grey Oaks' Rustic Campsites, are a boutique camping experience with real old-timey style. We have 2 RV/tent campsites and currently 2 tent-only sites for club member use, that we also have listed on HipCamp for dates that aren’t being used by official club members. Reserving a campsite through HipCamp makes one a guest of the club for the duration of your stay. Grey Oaks is located on 20 acres of land, with hiking and mountain biking trails, a 12 foot deep in-ground swimming pool, multiple interesting and cool landscape features, hot water shower, and animals up by the house (1/4 mile from the campsites) that you can interact with during your stay here, too (8 hens, 2 pasture horses, 2 friendly dogs, and 1 awesome cat). At the campsites, we have picnic tables, fire pits, bbqs, ice chests, and more. A clean and fresh well water hand/dishwashing station, plus Alhambra Crystal Fresh drinking water, and two outhouses are conveniently located to the campsites. Eucalyptus, oak, and/or pine firewood is provided free for you during your stay with us. It really is a beautiful and wonderful property. There is wildlife, and it is private and peaceful. It is very dark at night and the view of the stars, moon, and planets is amazing. There is poison oak on the property so please be aware. We will show you what it looks like, so you can easily avoid it.

Site 1

Site 1, like all our others, is private and spacious. It has a nice nook behind the fire pit area under the trees. This site is the only one with the large propane grill. It is to the left of the common area and of site 2. You can tent camp or park your RV up to 24 ft. There is poison oak on the property, and near this site and others. We have done a lot of work on this site especially. If you bring kids to this site and they play ball, it could possibly roll into some poison oak still. I know that I am mentioning it a lot and yes there is a lot on the property, but we have also cleared so much and it is fully avoidable. As with all of our sites, we recommend that you wear shoes that cover your feet to protect them.

Site 2 is our largest site. It has our unadvertised Site 5 next to it, so it is good for larger families (when booking site 5, also). This site can be parked at by an up to 24 ft RV and has 3 designated tent spots. It is close to the common area with the Outhouses and washing station, but the sites and areas are large and its not right up against them. There is poison oak on the property and around this campsite in some areas. It is one of the sites that has been cleared the most, but there is still some around, so please be aware. This site comes with all the amenities named in our very lengthy listing.

Site 5 (Only bookable w/ Site 2)

This campsite is combined with Site 2 for a larger tent camping family together, or family that has more than 1 Rv that wants to camp together. Includes everything as with Site 2. Do not request this Site 5 unless you have also requested Site 2. These are great family campsites for relaxing in nature. Private, peaceful and spacious. We have horses and hens for you to visit and 20 acres of land to explore. Includes BBQ grill with charcoal included, established fire-pit with free firewood delivered to your campsite, hammock, tiki torches with lamp/citronella oil, free farm fresh eggs, picnic table, ice chest, the “everything you forgot box”, and coffee/tea assortment box. Swimming pool, hot water shower, eco-friendly water station and sink, 3 composting-style outhouses. North Monterey County, Central Coast, Aromas. Property has native poison oak (campsites and trails are mostly clear) and it’s outside in the country, so there is dirt and dust. These are out on the land with no utilities, but there is water provided. Soaps, bug spray, calamine lotion in the common area for your use. Not backyard camping. It’s fun for those those that like to have the full out on the land camping experience, but close to all the area attractions and shopping. Gentle to moderate slope property. Tent, RV, fire-pit, and picnic tables are level. I wish we had one, but we don’t have a magic wand, and it’s not a video game where you can point and click to add/remove items or change the terrain, so wear we strongly recommend that you wear shoes that cover your feet while on the property. Nightly rate for this site is only $60 for 2 people since it is shared and reserved with Site 2. Due to Hipcamp only allowing one booking rate per property, please contact me before making a booking request, so I can provide you with a discount code to correct the rate. Thanks!

Our most secluded, and a guest favorite, Park and Hike Tent-only site 4. Has an 8 ft wide cleared path to the site, slightly uphill, 2 minutes from the common area. There is a lot of poison oak on the property and near the campsites, but the sites are large and it is fully avoidable. We are working on removing more of the poison oak, but it is very difficult to find people who want to work, and even more difficult to find people who want to work and who don’t react to poison oak. We have 1 guy who has been working on it with us, starting in the common area and sites 1 and 2, but his availability is limited. So, that is the status at this point. There is a really great picture of the campsite by Andrew M. that shows the site really well, and that it isn’t covered in poison oak. Unfortunately we will not be able to accept any bookings for families with young children for Site 4 anymore since those people have been the ones who have had the most problems with the poison oak. Site 4 includes all the amenities described in our main listing. One last thing, if you stay on the trails you are safe. Going off-trail and exploring that way is fun and all, but that’s how you are going to get poison oak. Please stay on the trails and wear shoes that cover your feet.

Another guest favorite, this site sits right above sites 1 and 2 and the common area. One guest mentioned that its like being the king up there. A very spacious site. It does have poison oak near it, but again, it is fully avoidable. Not recommended for young children who aren’t aware of their surroundings or who don’t like to, or are unable to follow directions. Comes with all the amenities named in our lengthy listing.

Great experience! Nice and quiet site with a firering, firewood, usable outhouse facilities and place to wash up. Zak met us and showed us around, had the place to ourselves. Green and spacious site with clear directions. Would stay again next time in the area!

We really enjoyed our night at Grey Oaks! We were the only campers around, so it was quiet, peaceful, and a great way to relax outdoors. The firewood provided was a huge plus and convenience, and we'd love to return! :)

Great host, great spot! Loved the box of “everything you forgot” like a kettle, plates and forks, etc. Lots of extra firewood, we were able to keep our camp fire going all night.

Zak was a great host! We came with several families and it was perfect. We scored with perfect weather. Poison oak was nerve wracking but all the other touches made it even out :)

Zak, was an amazing host! The sites had all the stuff we needed for a great time. Like the popcorn maker and the tiki torches to keep the mosquitoes away!
