Come experience the best that the San Diego backcountry has to offer on our 85 acre private nature retreat with it's miles of trails which take you thru groves of ancient Oaks, a monumental boulders maze, intoxicating sage, the most incredible sunset vistas and located just a couple miles from the North Mountain Wine Trail. the Pacific Crest Trail and the California Hiking and Riding Trail. The BLUEBIRD TINY HOUSE is one of 4 very private unique artisanal accommodations on the property. This vintage horse trailer was reimagined into a Tiny house by Lane and Laurie as a couples project in 2018 which they completely gutted and remodeled using beautiful natural materials , old fashioned wood cabinetry, handmade ceramic tiles and woven bamboo with fully equipped kitchen, quality linens, fireplace, AC, WIFI, smart TV. Bluebird Tiny House is tucked into a secluded forest meadow, named for the bluebirds that spend part of the year there and is a spacious feeling 320 sq ft. The spa-inspired bathroom features a hand-carved, wood vessel sink, eco-dual flush toilet,rain shower, and free-standing soaking tub with oak canopy view. The 40’ long deck spans the length of the secluded tiny house overlooking the forest to distant mountains and has alfresco dining area and plenty of furniture for cozying as well as hot tub sited for star gazing and firepit seating all within a large fenced yard to keep your fur babies close by. In addition, we have developed 2 forest therapy trails that will bring your ability to slow down and connect to nature to a whole new level and encourage you to try it using our MP3 forest therapy audio guide.. If you need to accommodate a larger group, check out Pinky's Nature Hideout which has a full kitchen, spacious living room, fenced yard for pets, corn hole, large deck and hot tub sited for star gazing, and firepit seating which overlooks the forest to distant mountains. It sleeps 4 people but the "Lounge" vintage Spartan trailer which is located behind the bunkhouse can be rented to sleep an additional 2 people and is only available to Pinky's guests. We provide guests the opportunity to really get away from it all in a untouched forest and chaparral setting with all the amenities one needs for a comfortable stay. In addition, we have developed 2 forest therapy trails that will bring your ability to slow down and connect to nature to a whole new level and encourage you to try it using our MP3 audio guide. Come getaway alone, with friends or family to our sweet little petfriendly glampsite CAMP CHESTER hidden under the oaks which features a vintage 1949 Canned Ham Tiny Trailer (sleeps 2 in a double and one on couch) , a 10 x 12 safari tent on deck w/queen bed, an outdoor kitchen with dining area and barista bar, bath house with hot water, rain-shower, claw-foot tub , compost toilet looking out to acres of sage and distant mountains and firepit. The owners are artisan builders and seasoned hosts who promise guests privacy and quiet. The camp is totally fenced for the safety of your pets and suitable for up to 6 people but sleeps up to 5 additional person(s) can bring tent. . It offers guests the opportunity to really get away from it all in a untouched forest and chaparral setting but offers all the amenities one needs for a comfortable stay. Pinky's Bunkhouse is one of 4 artisanal accommodations located on Birdsong Backcountry Retreat which is a private nature reserve in remote area of San Diego County and is sited on an 85 acre private nature reserve.  It has a full kitchen, spacious living room with 2 couches that can serve as twin beds,  one bedroom set up as king or 2 twins, a fenced yard for pets, large deck and hot tub sited for star gazing, and  firepit seating which overlooks the forest to distant mountains. We offer miles of private trails and most popular things to do in the area are hiking, wine tasting, and exploring this beautiful area. Sleeps 4 people  with additional 2 in your own tent/camper or our  "Lounge" vintage Spartan trailer which is located behind the bunkhouse can be rented privately to sleep an additional 2 people.  The Lounge is only available to bunkhouse guests.  If you like Pinky's but it is not available,  you may like one of our sister sites   "Bluebird Tiny House " , "Camp Chester" and 5 star "Camp Ribbonwood Safari Tent".  We provide guests the opportunity to really get away from it all in a untouched forest and chaparral setting as weak as the amenities one needs for a comfortable stay.  In addition, we have developed 2 forest therapy trails that will bring your ability to slow down and connect to nature to a whole new level and encourage you to try it using our MP3 audio guide..

GUESTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN BEDDING AND TOWELS The space This one room cabin has a queen size serta sofa sleeper and a loft with twin mattress. The shared bath house is within a 1 minute walk and the wifi access is within a 5 minute walk. Such a great and cozy stay at Camp Chester! My family and I loved walking the trails, making pizza and having a little outing to nearby wineries. This is our second time staying on their property (different site) and couldn’t recommend it more.

I loved staying at Camp Chester! The camper and bathroom are well equipped with just about everything you might need! I loved the little outdoor kitchen. The view from the bathroom is a bonus :) There was plenty of room for my dog to roam around and enjoy all the sniffs! It was so quiet and peaceful. I loved hearing the coyotes at night, the breeze through the trees and the birdsongs. We got to take in a peaceful sunset at Zen Point and enjoy the nature trails around the property. It truly felt private and secluded. This was our second stay at Birdsong, and I’m sure we’ll be back again sometime!

Laurie’s land was amazing. The outdoor kitchen with running water and the outdoor bathroom was a true highlight! Clawfoot tub and star gazing is the way to go. Fenced in yard was perfect for our Great Dane. highly recommended!

Peaceful Bliss
Camp Chester
This is probably one of the best vacation spots I’ve been to, and I’ve camped and traveled all over the US. The feeling of peace and tranquility was unparalleled to anything I’ve experienced, they’ve truly made a magical camping experience. The hosts are kind, attentive and you can just tell they do this to share their little piece of heaven with the world. 10/10, can’t wait to come back!

What a perfectly serene spot — Camp Chester was a home away from home for our long weekend and was exactly what my wife and I (plus our three dogs!) needed. Jackie was an excellent and communicative host as well. We will absolutely be coming back soon.

Birdsong Retreat is the only choice

After being 50% excited and 100% lost I called our host Jackie. When she came to get me I knew I made the right choice. She was warm, welcoming and the cookies were fire. As I walked into Pinky’s Bunkhouse I knew I would get the much needed reset that I desired. My first night I watched the sunset from the hot tub. The next morning I set off on the several hiking trails, enjoyed the natural rock formations and was inspired by hidden treasures along the way: a wooden swing, a tree phone and those sunsets! The sites were all private and the bathhouse was really cute. Extremely pet friendly with no additional fees. My two Great Danes and senior boxer found their zen and I got my reset 😃

Bluebird Tiny House
I stayed at Bluebird Tiny House during a hot weekend in July. Everything about my experience was enjoyable. I would consider Bluebird Tiny House glamorous glamping. The converted horse trailer had so many well thought out details & touches inside and out. It has a full kitchen, everything needed to cook and grill. It has a working toilet, tub, shower and well water, which was very tasty. It was a hot weekend, but the AC was running when we arrived in mid afternoon. We never needed the heater, and we left the windows open all night. I was amazed at how quiet it was. This location is so quiet and secluded, you’d never know anyone was around. The nearby hikes had amazing views. Bluebird Tiny House has a gas fire pit and an impressive hot tub, perfect for star gazing. The whole experience was so relaxing, and well worth paying a little extra for comfort. We hope to go back in the next year!

Off Grid Raven's Refuge
This place is extremely cute, and the hosts were helpful and communicative. Coming from Hollywood, I was SHOCKED at how QUIET it was here. And how dark it was at night!! It was crazy! You really feel like you're "off the grid," which is nice. The surrounding area is mountainous and desert-y and really pretty. The cabin was well stocked, air conditioned, and homey. It was a little too hot to be outside (with an elderly dog) during the day, but we enjoyed some amazing hikes during the evening hours - I'd particularly recommend hiking to the Zen Point around sunset. The bathhouse was a super quick walk from the cabin so that was no biggie, and it actually had a nice shower! It was overall nicer than I was expecting. However, if you're on the shorter side in terms of height, be mindful of how your anatomy...um...interacts with the nuances of the toilet. You'll see what I mean :) We didn't go full-on with the nature therapy trails, but if meditation and mindfulness are your jam, then you'll probably enjoy them. Overall, the vibes here were excellent. Bring sunscreen!!

Off Grid Sage Sanctuary
What a magical place!! The host was always available whenever we needed anything or had a question. It’s the perfect spot to disconnect and truly enjoy some time away. The cabin is super cozy and well equipped with everything we needed. My girlfriend and I loved exploring the nearby trails. The fenced yard was a huge plus, our dogs were safe and could roam freely! We’ll definitely be back!!

Bluebird Tiny House
We had such a nice time at the Bluebird Tiny House at Birdsong Backcountry Retreat. The property was very private and quiet and had lots of space for our dogs to roam the fenced yard. The converted horse trailer was so cute and cozy and had everything we needed to disconnect from our busy lives and just relax. The outdoor space was very peaceful with lots of comfortable areas to sit and read and a hot tub and gas firepit to keep us warm in the evenings. We look forward to visiting again!

Amazing little campsite- Safari tent had a heated mattress and a little heater to keep us warm on a very chilly night. Camper had a little space heater, too, but it is well insulated, so we didn’t really use. Great trails for exploring- we will definitely be back!

Lovely property. The private camp was well equipped yet rustic offering the perfect balance. Plenty warm and cozy with heat in the safari tent. The camper is adorable. The view from the bathroom is pretty and such a fun novelty to be outdoors but with more hotel like amenities (hot running water, bathtub, mirror etc). Loved being able to have the dog off leash at our site with no worries since it's fenced in. We did not see anyone else the entire time we were there but could hear other folks/dogs occasionally. A couple things at our site required attention and Jackie was very quick to communicate/help and she was kind and attentive from the get go. We have already recommended Birdsong to others.

We had an absolutely magical time at Bluebird cabin. Jackie, the host, was so sweet and helpful. Thanks for the cookies, Jackie! Complete privacy, surrounded by nature. The cabin is greatly placed, there was a lot of shade throughout the day, making it super enjoyable to be outside. The hot tub was such an amazing way to unwind even more in the evening... My dogs loved this stay as well! Probably my best Hipcamp experience ever. Will definitely be back!

Off Grid Sage Sanctuary
Our stay at the Sage cabin was beyond our expectations. The tiny cabin felt like home. We spent the day walking the trails on the property and unwinding from the city. The weather was very warm so to have AC in the cabin was perfect. The kitchenette and BBQ were great for our home-cooked meals. No service or WIFI was exactly what we wanted. Our little pup didn’t bark once meaning he felt at home as well! We will definitely be back!

Camp Chester
Wonderfully peaceful and well thought out site for Camp Chester. We loved the hammocks and outdoor dining area and feeling safe inside the yard with our three small dogs. The moon was full and the coyotes were howling. It was pretty hot during the afternoons in late June when we visited - was nice to know the yurt was there in case we really needed to cool down. Yet it also got pretty chilly at night - the heated mattress pads were exactly right. The open air shower/ tub is incredibly relaxing. It was the right degree of camping for us, me and my septuagenarian mother- water, power, shelter, grill, mini fridge, comfy places for laying back and watching the clouds move slowly by while the birds stop by to chat - all provided. Stopped by the nearby Buddha statue garden on our way out and luckily it was open - very special spot. Jackie is an awesome camp host and Birdsong felt very open and welcoming.

Perfect Weekend Getaway 🐾🐾
Off Grid Raven's Refuge
We absolutely loved our weekend stay at the Raven cabin. The property was great, it was fenced off for privacy and great for our pups - another plus that fur babies are allowed. The directions to get to the cabin are easy to follow, and there are signs everywhere. Everything you need is in this cute cabin. There were kitchen tools, seasonings, tea, and coffee. The futon/pullout was more comfortable than expected! The best part about this cabin is that the thoughtful touches make you feel at home - the decor, artwork, hammock, sun chairs, picnic table. The bathhouse is a quick 3 minute walk away, so clean with everything you need, as if a guest in someone’s home. After unloading and being ready to relax, we noticed the host left some freshly baked almond butter cookies for us as a welcome! We loved them! We would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family. Thank you!

Pinky's Nature Hideout
We had so much a fun at Pinky’s Bunkhouse! We took our two rambunctious kiddos AND our two Doggies (they loved lounging around in the yard). We brought our own food, but otherwise, we had everything we needed and more. Very private and the night sky was one the highlights of our trip. So beautiful. Highly recommend small families to take a trip out here.

Our family (adults, children and dogs) all loved staying at Camp Chester! The site was amazing and had everything we needed. Jackie greeted us and made sure we knew where everything was. The site felt very private and secure. Our kids loved sleeping in the trailer! We brought a couple more tents and had 2 cars in the fenced in yard and there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and run around. The beds were comfortable and we all loved the outdoor bathroom, bathtub and shower. We took a walk around the property and loved seeing all of the little spaces and look out spots. We enjoyed seeing all of the wildlife (quail and turkey were the favorites).

Perfect weekend getaway

Absolutely loved our time here. Needed a place to unplug and unwind with my wife and our 2 dogs. Jackie was fantastic from the get go. Allowed us to book with less than 24hrs notice. Worked with us to make sure we were able to find the site and knew how everything worked. Great trails for hiking and lots of wildlife to check out. Fenced in sites are such a game changer when you have pets. The little cabin has everything you need to prep meals and create a cozy home for however long you plan to stay. Highly recommend.

Pinky's Nature Hideout
What an awesome place. So quiet and serene. Weather was perfect when we were there. We ate our meals on the porch listening and watching the birds. A turkey came by with 10 poults and drank out of a bowl of water. So cute. We hiked all around the property but also went hiking out to Eagle Rock in Warner Springs, took the Jeep and did some trails in the area (Palomar Divide, Lost Valley Rd-the North and South side) and checked out the valley. One thing, we didn't do and I'm bummed, is we didn't go hike up to the Sunset view spot on the property until the morning we were leaving. Make sure you don't miss that. The views are amazing and there's about 8 chairs and a little table to enjoy yourself. Bring some snacks and drinks and chill out for a while up there. Finally, Jackie left the most delicious chocolate chip cookies for us upon arrival. SO good! Oh, and their coffee was delicious also. Wait!! Final thing, I promise. Their well water IS AMAZING. Really good and my hair hasn't felt that good ever.

Perfect setting for a relaxing getaway and to hit reset. Beautiful hiking trails and very well maintained camping sites. The hosts are gracious and their love show for the grand outdoors shines through their attention to the finest details. Birdsong takes “glamping” to the next level!

Perfect Get Away Glamping Weekend!
Bluebird Tiny House
It was the perfect getaway! The house is well equipped and we enjoy so much we didn’t even wanted to leave the house area! First day we did the forest therapy which was a nice way to connect with the forest! We read the bird book and using the binoculars we saw so many birds around the area! We went to the Shadow Mountain wine tasting and it was amazing thanks to Jackie! We also did the Eagle rock trail which was an unforgettable hike! Coming back to the house with the jacuzzi was the perfect recovery we needed! Absolutely a must especially for people who are doing glamping for the first time! We will for sure return to create new memories with the forest, the animals and the people we met! Thank you Jackie for the hospitality and for taking such good care of us and the house!

A great experience! Loved the cozy setup with numerous places for lots of people to gather. We also loved painting small rocks with the supplies provided, to add to the inspirational garden collection .
