The Garden of Peden

2nites turned into 3. Took a minute to access and figure out a camp spot. Rural neighborhood of single wides. Camp itself quiet. Neighbor dogs quite vocal. Solo traveler. Felt totally safe and slept very well. Beware thorny debris. Good Verizon signal. Robust quail! Ground squirrels wrestling. Desert Wren. Homesite is a work in progress. No host onsite but responsive. Overall, a very chill find. After dark, two additional campers showed up for a quick sleepover. Both gone shortly after sunrise. Both quiet and respectful on arrival.

We made a reservation for Site 5. When we showed up we couldn't find numbers posted anywhere. There was a tent in one site and we saw only one other obvious site/place to park. We backed in to only obvious place off road and it was right next to wire fence. We had to be super close to fence because there was a big pile of trash on the other side. In the process we scraped the side of our van on a Shepard hook someone thought would be a good idea to put next to the fence :( Just as we got set up another van showed up with a reservation and no where to park so tried to squeeze in by us. We'd had enough and left.

Great view of the sunset and some excellent birding can happen as well. If you need anything there's a dollar general and a speedway not far. Also, the Praise Center Church of God is a great place to visit while you're there. Running water and power and a great service Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday! I didn't attend the Thursday night meeting but I heard good things about it.

Had a very pleasant 3 day tent camping stay here. Near as I could tell from the 2 signs I saw, the spots are arranged around a dirt round roundabout as soon as you pull thru gate. I could not find spot #’s, parking spaces or official delineation between them. Plenty of level spots and improvised fire pits. The location is in a rural setting but surrounded by neighboring properties. I never felt like my privacy was being invaded as most homes are hundreds of feet away. As described, the property is teaming with wildlife and they do make plenty of wildlife noises but I had no issue with it during the day or night, sounded like nature to me. I had no interaction with the host but required none. Would definitely stay here again, no restroom makes mornings a hurried affair but can’t beat the price and accessibility to Saguaro Nat’l Park.

Site 1 - The Garden of Peden

You get what you pay for. The one viable site (out of 4 listed) was flat and clean… the property however was otherwise covered in junk, trash, and brush piles. There was no privacy as the site was in the front yard in a simi-rural neighborhood, No less than three other houses overlooked the site. I was ok as a single guy with a big (quiet) dog, but id have been concerned otherwise. It was not a nice neighborhood, mostly rough trailer homes. It was loud. All the neighbors had multiple (often aggressive) dogs that barked well into the night. The neighbors themselves had loud trucks roaring through the wee hours, and the roosters started up not long after the dogs went to bed. It was loud. All in all it was 10$…. But there is free BLM camping nearby too.

I loved the area. Great, private space with an awesome fire pit and open fire grill. We didn’t need to utilize it but there was accommodating chairs and a table.

I enjoyed tent camping at the Garden of Peden. The campsite is well maintained, easy to find, and provides quick access for day trips to both Saguaro National Park and downtown Tucson. All in all an excellent value, and I look forward to returning in the future.

Lots of good bird watching!

I had a lovely time staying here for two nights in March while visiting Saguaro National Park for the first time. I was the only one staying here for my two nights, which made my mornings very quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed making coffee and breakfast by my site and birdwatching while wandering around the garden. Lots of fun, curated areas of the garden with a huge variety of birds - woodpeckers, quail, cardinals, chickadees, and more. Only thing was it was a little confusing to find which spot I was supposed to stay in as I couldn't find any numbers on any of the sites, but it wasn't a problem as I was the only guest during my stay. Would love to come back next time I'm in Tuscon area!

Had to emergency find somewhere to pitch the tent for the night when our campsite flooded and this was the perfect spot for a quick night! Close enough to civilization for a last minute trip but secluded enough to still have the camp vibes. The little touches of the grill and bug spray were awesome too.

Wonderful piece of property with lots of wildlife. Has ground squirrels, multiple types of birds. We stayed here for a few nights. Hosts weren't on site, but were responsive. Will definitely be coming back to stay here again.

Hidden gem

Great spot tucked back down a dirt road. We were the only campers last night 2/21/24 and enjoyed the peaceful desert landscape and amazing morning sunrise. This is a no frills other than beautiful nature. The host did a great set up for tents and offer utensils and grill warehouse which we thought was a nice touch. There's also cute seating throughout the property. No trash was visible and there were trash receptacles. Thank you for having us!

The site was easy to find and I had it all to myself. Good experience aside from the Coyotes and roosters in on the adjacent properties were yelping and crowing most of the night making it hard to sleep without earplugs.

The camp spot was amazing and worked perfectly for my overnight tent camping needs with pup. I didn’t use the firewoood because I believe it was placed at the other campsite. I wasn’t sure so didn’t use it. Anyway I got in late from long drive and was a bit too hot to care. Thank you and hope to visit again.

The place looked unkempt. We were supposed to stay two nights because we couldn't find camping spots in Saguaro NP but bailed out the second night when the park actually recommended a campground on a close state park. The only positive point was the price.

Place was wonderful! The other reviews are right about it being near neighbors, but if you set up right you’re completely out of view in a sweet little private site. Tayler was friendly and easily available. She suggested exploring, which was fun since there’s a lot to see on the property but if you go at night with flashlights like we did it gets VERY spooky VERY quickly. If you’re easily scared (it was very Blair Witch) I would recommend staying at the sites which were the complete opposite vibes. Overall we had a great time and would absolutely stay here again.

Desert diversity delicious sticks

Pretty little place. I’d agree with the other campers. Very exposed to neighbors but not if you’re smart about it. Interesting odds and ends around the site. Fantastic junk. Keep an eye on kids, there’s some sharp stuff. Experience desert diversity! Saguaro and barrels and mesquite and acacia and quail and rabbits and more! Did I eventually spook myself and sleep in my car? Sure. Do I care, for $10? Nah. Was super quiet too. The simple breakfast I cooked with mesquite was freaking delicious. please dont go here without fire supplies and something good to cook I swear that breakfast alone was worth the $10 and it was like a bell pepper and some ground beef.

Camping in a rural neighborhood.

We enjoyed our two nights stay. The campsite is in a rural neighborhood outside of Tucson. The first night the neighbors dogs were quite active but the second night was quite. We liked campsite, the sunsets, the night sky and the fire pit. Tayler responded to my questions and requests. Currently there is no bathroom but was not an issue with us.

didn’t feel comfortable solo

upon arriving at the location, it was apparent that all camping was exposed/visible to neighbors near the property. i wasn’t able to find a spot to set up camp that felt like it would offer privacy. as a female traveling alone, this would have been helpful to know. i didn’t feel comfortable and wasn’t able to reach the host. i ended up leaving and not staying at the property.

Hi, I felt like I had no idea what was going on. There was nobody there. There were no trash bins, as Tayler claims to have. The nature is offset by the neighborhood. Not going back.
