Really enjoyed staying here. It was totally off the beaten track and very peaceful (bar the occasional train you don’t really hear any manmade sounds at all).
I don’t think we could have camped any closer to the national park. Having cows as neighbours made for a pleasant addition.
I would very happily stay here again - and may well do so, as more of the park to be visited.

We loved this spot!! Beautiful wide open space with a nice table / overhang, bathroom and some fun yard games. And we were so glad to be right near Petrified Forest National Park. It was a bit tricky to get there, but Ken talked us through every step and even spent extra time setting up alternative paths (it had rained) and putting out reflective poles so we could find our way. We really, really appreciated his extra care and hospitality and would love to stay again next time we're in the area!
To note, if it's rained recently, we would recommend a high clearance / 4-wheel drive vehicle, but if conditions are dry, we hear you can navigate the road in a Prius!

The directions were very easy to follow! The road is a bit bumpy in some areas so a high clearance car is what I would recommend, but our 2WD sprinter did just fine! The property was very private and quiet, and my daughter loved seeing the all the cows. The cherry on top was the ending the night with one of the prettiest sunsets I’ve ever seen.

Sun county offered the most beautiful views! It was private and allowed us to take in the scenery and listen to the noises around us. We loved playing with the activities that were left for us. Overall really peaceful time! Ken was great with instructions and we found it with no problem

The location was great - very quiet and great night sky. The site looked as though the host had not been out for a while . There was a corn hole setup which was over turned and a putting green of sorts which was all askew. Only one chair was at the site rather than the two shown. The two reflectors mentioned in the directions denoting the road were down. Also the “fork” in the road is an intersection- one road is invisible In the dark. Other than having two chairs the site doesn’t in my opinion need any other amenities- the night sky is all one needs

We really enjoyed our stay here! The location was private and had incredible views of the sunset and stars. We loved the set up and took advantage of playing horseshoe. The host was helpful and communicative. I highly recommend this if you enjoy camping, the outdoors, and a very private setting!

My husband and I camped here for one night. The site was very private and peaceful. The road to get here was a little rough, but Ken gave good directions so it was easy to find overall. We would stay here again if we were back in the area.

I loved the spot. First time in a Desert and wanted to stay in a vast and quiet space. It was exactly what I was looking for. Lots of Cow and Deer walking around. Only stayed the one night but would recommend.

Plenty of space for our dogs to roam around. The games (bean bag toss, mini golf, and horseshoe) provided were fun. We saw lots of cows, and the shade made the sun bearable. We went to the Petrified Forest, about a 15 minute drive. All of our belongings were safe while we were gone.

This is a beautiful spot. The kids loved playing horseshoes and they had plenty of room to play. The moon and stars were beautiful.
It was tough navigating the ruts in the road with a 19 ft camper trailer, however.
I would recommend a stay here but be aware it’s a rough road and I wouldn’t attempt it at night.

Sun Country/Bright Star Campsite was great! We stayed in the "sunset site" and enjoyed the view. Bathrooms were very clean and the showers were hot. The activity Pavillion had ping pong, corn hole, rock painting and couches where we could just relax. The kitchen is fully stocked. And the host is wonderful! This has truly been a favorite on our list of campgrounds.

Absolutely loved this spot! It was quiet, super peaceful, and easy to get to. The grazing cows nearby added a really nice, calming touch. Loved that there was already a fire pit and picnic table set up—made things super convenient. Would definitely stay again!

This is a terrific site and Ken is awesome to deal with. Friendly man and he has a nice little set up. It's not hard to find, is quiet and you really feel like you are away from it all. I would love to go there again. We lucked out and had perfect weather. If you are into the night sky there is no light pollution at all and you'll see a crazy amount of stars.

Charming little remote spot. I didn’t expect it to be so far away from the main road but once we reached the camp we enjoyed our time very much Our host Ken was super helpful and provided accurate directions which you absolutely have to follow or you will get lost.

We reserved this spot around 2pm for that same night. The directions provided were accurate, but the dirt roads increases our travel time by 30 minutes, one way. We arrived at 7:45pm and didn’t feel comfortable staying because it looked like a car was on the property with their headlights on. We contacted the host via text because he was not there to meet us and he wasn’t aware of anyone else being on the property and assured me it was lights from an industrial area a few hundred yards away. In person, the lights looked about 50ft away. We kindly told him we didn’t feel comfortable staying with this kind of uncertainty and we left. No refund was issued.

Oh boy, where do I begin! My family and I camped in our 25' RV (no trailer or toad). The roads were easily manageable and were dry when we went. Ken gave excellently detailed instructions on finding his camp land - make sure to follow Ken's instructions and NOT GPS! The land itself was wide open and beautiful! Ken has made a very welcoming setup with some cool little amenities for entertainment. There is an Air BnB camper on-site, but it was vacant while we camped. The silence, broken every so often by the Santa Fe Express, was amazing! Bare minimum light pollution and SOOO many stars. We had a great time playing horseshoes and corn hole, running around with our kiddo and just overall enjoying the solitude. I would highly recommend this site to any adventurer who wants to get away from hustle and bustle and noise.

We went there after visiting the petrified forest and the spot was perfect. We watched the sunset with a campfire and kids played with the installations (mini put etc.). Highly recommand just keep in mind the dirt road is bumpy for vans that are not 4x4.

The spot is decently well signed, and is far enough away from the high way and freight trains that it’s not too loud. The night sky is beautiful, though there are some bright lights nearby. The location is superb for the painted desert. The campground itself is a mostly flat cow pasture with cow pies all over.

This was the most amazing camp site. So remote but well stocked! Fire pit was great. Mini golf hole, cornhole, horse shoes, solar lights, covered table and more. My kids were so happy there. Ken was so communicative and helpful. Directions he gave were perfect. Best sunset and sunrise ever! We enjoyed it so much we didn’t want to leave. Would stay again a million times!

We had a great time at Sun Country! Big open land to behold with cows gently wandering by. The picnic table under the pergola was great, there was also firewood for us to use. The host kindly shared directions for us to get there, and we managed the road with a 2WD minivan without issue. Sweet sunny piece of land, hope others enjoy it as much as we did!

Awesome campsite. I broke down In Petrified Forest and wound up arriving well after dark. Ken stayed on the phone with me for over 15 minutes to help me find the site in the dark. If you read the directions, you’ll find the place no problem. I was shocked at how easy it was when I left.

Exactly as described, There was firewood and water in a shower bag at the site. Picnic table and horseshoes were nice additions. Excellent communication and directions to site. Also, one of the most beautiful starry night skies I’ve seen. Would recommend!
