Purchased this land for my father who loved living on his own in stark conditions. The property literally came with a shack on it. He loved shifting for gold with one of the neighbors in the desert up the road. He has since passed and the shack was torn down due to normal wear making it unstable. Me and my wife plan to put a home on it in the future, but felt it would be nice to allow adventurous types to stay on the property for the cheap. Learn more about this land: (Directions at bottom of description) The property is up on a hill surrounded on 2 sides (W/N) by BLM land with an overlook of Lake Mead. Just 10 miles from lake access (downhill) inside Lake Mead recreational area. Also, about 9 miles from Grand Canyon West access point. The property once had a shack on it, which is now gone - some remnants remain. But, there are flat drive areas in which to park (RV ok) and/or tent camp. Property is a little rough, but the views are gorgeous! From the property you can see Lake Mead, the west wall of the Grand Canyon, and an overlook of the town of Meadview. There are other residents in the area, but are far away, but visible (it is a desert). But, the property is absolutely quiet and peaceful. There is no electric, water, or facilities - so, it is primitive (or self-contained) camping. There is a fire-ring, but you must bring your own wood. There is some limited shopping and restaurants in town (Meadview or Dolan Springs) and on the main road (Pierce Ferry). We plan to build on the property in the future, but wish to share it with others until then. Definitely for the rugged at heart or self-contained camper. General location: * 9 miles after grand canyon walkway turn-off * 1.5 miles after General Dollar (on left) *** before historical marker and turn-off to Meadview (on right) Directions (from Pierce Ferry - heading north): * Turn left at Newport (next road after King Tut [on right]) * Turn right on Caribbean (dead end sign straight ahead) * Turn right on Starlight Way (end of nicely graded road with house up-hill on left) * Property at top of hill on right - at Starlight Way and Starlight Circle Intersection GPS coordinates of property: 35.9845206, -114.0983649 Other useful information: Closest restrooms are 11 miles north on Pierce Ferry - at boat ramp (all paved road) or in Meadview proper (at restaurants and gas stations)(Directions at bottom of description) The property is up on a hill surrounded on 2 sides (W/N) by BLM land with an overlook of Lake Mead. Lake Mead Overlook
We found the spot easily in the pitch black. The breeze overnight was lovely and waking up to the Lake Mead and desert view was awesome. We had a refreshing swim in the lake before the easy drive to Grand Canyon West for a fantastic day. Great location for us

Lake Mead Overlook
Did some cat camping here and loved it. Spectacular views from the site and from a short (less than 50yds) walk away. Sites are level and clean and very easy to find. Lake Mead access is a short drive away and there's a Joshua tree forest on the way to the site.

We left Vegas a little later than we wanted to so we missed the sunset bummer. We did however find camp very easily and set up in time to enjoy the DARK SKY. We saw a rare Green Comet that was pretty awesome. Never spoke or text Ken as we easily found the property, It was a lot like staying on BLM property but we had the piece of mind that we had permission to stay and wouldn't have any unknown visitors. It's always. The fear I have when we primitive camp is accidentally being on someone's property without permission lol overall great experience and would consider going back just to explore the area a little more.

Great spot, amazing views! Very windy while we were there but kept it cool. Lots of cacti but definitely a sweet spot! Didn't see many people on the starlight but everyone we did seemed super friendly. We will definitely be back.

Very average. I would suggest not paying and just finding a dispersed camp spot around lake mead on your own. Or camping near willow beach. When I arrived you just drive this road with houses on it and you’re expected to just park on the opposite side of the road without the houses. Less than ideal

This location had a beautiful view and if you do not have dogs, I would recommend it. If you have dogs there are long, spiky like burrs that get in the dog's paws.

Not a good spot for RVs

In order to get to this site, you have to drive up a steep entry road. The top of this road goes over a lip that will bottom out anything longer than a pickup with a camper shell. I'm currently dealing with an insurance claim for the wrecked generator on my rental. That's on me, but forewarned is forearmed.

Lake Mead Overlook
This site was absolutely perfect for us. Easy to find, great views, and still had full service with Verizon. Only downside was our Great Danes not accustomed to the prickly things that are about. I took some incredible photos of the moon/sun rise over the mountains. There are several places to pitch your tent, we set ours pretty far away from the fire pit and small gravel areas and it was still very nice. Having a dumpster to put our trash in was nice also. Would love another round on our way back home

Good Day I wanted to inform that I never found the place. We called Ken, he answered but he told us to turn at some palm trees, and from there we never found it. Along with it being night, no one ever came down to help find. We called about 4 times and never found it. I didn't know if it was part of mountain but there was nothing to indicate where it was, so we had no other choice but to look for somewhere else to camp. After that Ken never called back to ask what happened. So what we payed is now gone. In the day we were in Arizona we have no idea what happened to the money. I'd like to have my money returned. But other than that I don't reccomend it.

Worth the drive!
Lake Mead Overlook
Great spot on top of the hills. The view of the water and hills was outstanding. It might be a long drive out to this spot, but it’s well worth it. Secluded and quiet. If you set some chairs at the top of the hill you get a great breeze and an even better view of the sunset. The air is a bit slower on the leveled surface for your tent, but it’s the desert, so it cools off pretty well in the evening. We went when it was almost a full moon and the view of the hills and water at night was spectacular!

Beautiful on one side, someone’s house and worksite on the other. There’s not much of an area to camp on, mostly rocky and road like but the view of the lake on the top of the ridge is stunning. Would maybe stay here in a pinch but otherwise it’s not the best option in my opinion.

Very primitive, some trash from other campers on the hillside. Definitely bring a mallet to get tent stakes between the rocks but overall worth the view you wake up to

Very private and peaceful. Need to be an experienced rugged camper. I brought my husband and toddler, and they kept complaining about the unpaved road condition. We brought Mercedez C300, and my navigation got me a wrong direction, so I took the opposite way to go to the uphill (harshly unpaved with sharp edge rocks!). And I realized that there was a description about the right direction on this website. So please read the written direction carefully before using your navigation. My furry friend (mini poodle) got thorns all over his body, and it took me about 20 minutes to remove them before brining him inside the tent. But at the end, all of us had a very fun and peaceful night & morning, and watched beautiful sunset, starts and sunrise.

We really enjoyed our stay! The road getting up to the site is uphill and gravel, but our car that has 2wd made it up just fine. We were a little confused where to camp at first biased on directions given. But if you go up to the top of the hill near the intersection, take an immediate right and then right, there is a nice flat spot right there. There is a small fire ring there as well. If you are not a rugged camper this isn’t the place for you. But overall the views were beautiful and there were no other people around.

Gorgeous views and a perfect little nook on the mountain side, it just wasn’t what my family and I were looking for. No flat ground to pitch a tent and couldn’t build a campfire. Would recommend to backpackers, we just had too much camping gear for the space available.

The site needs to be more clearly marked. Directions tell you two “cross streets”, which are gravel roads. You’re atop a hill with very few level areas, and the ground is pretty much all rocks and shrubs/ground clutter. We planned to sleep in our truck tent, but if you’re going to sleep on the ground, best of luck. The views from the site **are** stunning and vast, but again, there is no good “camp ground” for you to relax upon. We ended up leaving and camping elsewhere. I’ve used Hipcamp several times in the past with excellent outcomes, but this one would have been a pass for me if I’d had a bit more information. I won’t say this can’t be a great spot to camp for some folks- it is nicely situated between South Cove of Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon, but for my “wants” in a camping experience: level ground, space to set up my chairs, tables, gear, and have a fire, it didn’t fit the bill. My group did not have any contact with the owner (some owners are on-site, some aren’t), and I am not saying anything against the owner personally and I am not seeking any sort of refund. We paid for our site as part of our Hipcamp contract and are glad to fulfill it.

On our own, under the stars. The most amazing view over Lake Mead ever. We parked up the RV and walked a little to find the perfect spot to gaze. Just what we were looking for.

Couldn’t find the campsite but I found amazing views of lake mead. Ended up leaving but got all my money back, there’s no service out there so contact the host early.
