Overall it was a nice getaway from the city. You should definitely be sure to bring your own water and sleeping bags/pillows. The pictures made it seem like they were provided but I was wrong. Very nice hosts over all.

Linda, host, was exceptional. She forwarned us of rain. She was so helpful and accommodating. The are was clean. Port a potty was clean. It was a positive experience. We would definitely stay there again on refer a friend to this camp.

The Honeymoon
I stayed in the honeymoon and it was very pleasant! The AC worked super well, the property was pretty and I wish I could’ve stayed longer to explore!

I believe it is essential to first mention how great the AC was! It’s hard to find powerful AC when camping, but this place stayed cool enough for me to be able to sleep with a blanket! The grounds are GORGEOUS, and the fishing is incredible. Potable water is a bit far from the cabin, but still provided! I would stay here a million times over! The signs placed at the turn to get there made navigating super easy!

The bunkhouse was a little crowded for just one person so Linda suggested the "honeymoon" cabin. The bed was super comfy, cabin was clean and Linda was very helpful. It's a beautiful place, far enough from civilization to see millions of stars but close enough for needed necessities. Thank you for the respite!

My family and I had an awesome experience at the ranch. Linda was a responsive and welcoming host. Our only disappointment was arriving late in the evening and needing to leave early the next day. This would have been a great place to unwind for several days. The sites were well-placed and offered sufficient space between each. The views of the countryside and the lake were superb. Restrooms weren't far away. The evening chorus of bullfrogs, crickets, an owl, and occasional coyotes in the distance was a welcome respite from driving all day. We look forward to staying again on our next time passing down I-80 in Iowa.

Linda (aka Darlene) was an exceptional host! She was very accommodating, generous, responsive, and kind.
The Hunter’s Haven cabin was cozy—perfect size for myself and my dog. The ranch property is well-maintained.
Appreciated: was clean, oscillating fan, fly swatter, and broom provided, picnic table present, privacy of the location, lovely canopy of trees surround the space, room for my dog to run around outside, cute and large variety of mushrooms growing all over!
Opportunity for improvements: could only keep one of the three windows open because of no screens on two of them and with no A/C, even the fan couldn’t move enough air to cool the cabin down fast enough at night, so I slept badly since I’m sensitive to temps for sleep. I won’t be able to use this cabin again in the heat of the Summer unless I find out that change gets made. Also, installing campfire swivel grill grates would be a simple yet significant upgrade. A bonus would be if the picnic table spot was leveled out a little more —it’s not terrible but could be better.
Overall I and my dog had a nice, peaceful time and I hope to return!

Was only there for 1 night but loved every second of it! was lovely eating dinner by the picnic table outside and leave the hassle of the i-80 for a bit. would definitely recommend!

We upgraded to The Loft because we did not want to tent it during a storm on our way home. It made it so much easier to just get up and go as well on our last night of the trip. Linda is a very kind person and made sure that the accommodations were to our liking. I would definitely book a space here again if I'm in the area again!

We have stayed in the Loft 2 times now and it’s cozy and has all of the main amenities we need. The yard in front of the loft is beautiful and a great atmosphere. We love it!

This was my third time staying at the ranch. I love it here. It’s a beautiful area, peaceful, the other campers are friendly and Linda is a great host. I love the hunters haven cabin because it’s tucked down a hill and surrounded by woods. It’s so peaceful and quiet. I will stay here every time I drive from Denver to Michigan as long as it works for my driving schedule.

We absolutely loved staying at Rock N Ranch! It exceeded our expectations! Secluded and private sites. Hosts were ready to greet us and checked in briefly throughout the stay. We brought our 3 month old baby, so having the A/C was a game changer for us. Some of the best star viewing we’ve ever experienced. Our pups LOVED the quiet site! Make sure you’re prepared for ticks though. Already planning our next trip back.

We spent memorial day weekend out here. We rented the bunkhouse from Friday-Monday. There was plenty of room for the 3 (2 adults and 1 ten year old) of us in the cabin and we had lots of privacy. There is a ton of space and lots activities to chose from on this BEAUTIFUL property. From hiking, to swimming in the creek, and fishing in the pond, we were never bored at Rock-n-Ranch! As for the hosts, I cannot begin to thank them enough! Darlene and Mike really did go above and beyond for us to make sure we had a great time while we were there. They are VERY sweet and down to earth people. You can tell they really care a lot about the property and the guests that visit there. We will 100% be coming again! We already can't wait to book our next trip!

Linda and her family have a beautiful chunk of land that my husband and I got to enjoy on our trip back from Colorado. We had booked a smaller cabin down in a hollow in the woods but there were storms forecasted for that night. Linda and her family thoughtfully moved us to a cabin on flat lad so our car wouldn't get stuck the next morning. The cabin was clean and had heat, AC, a fridge AND a TV/VCR with lots of VHS tapes. That was a lovely surprise. Linda was also very responsive to messaging. I was communicating with her about our changing arrival time all day and she was very understanding. We had a great time. Thanks Linda!

We came for one night to celebrate one of our daughter’s birthdays and had a wonderful time. Darlene and her husband were fantastic hosts. She showed me around the property right when I got there and was so helpful. We stayed in the loft cabin which was cozy and fit all of us just fine. We did run into a little bit of weather but luckily it moved through quickly and we were still able to enjoy our stay. We will definitely be back to visit!

The Bunkhouse
Lovely spot of land. We were welcomed by the host, then otherwise felt like we had the place to ourselves. At the same time, it's not far off the interstate, and perfectly suited our need for one night to break up a long trip.
The Bunkhouse was cozy for a cooler night, and we were grateful to have a fridge for our car snacks and a microwave for supper.
We would have enjoyed spending more time here - maybe on the next trek through!

Nice secluded spot to get away. Great views of the stars on the top of the hill if you’re lucky to get a clear sky. Host led us to our spot so there was no confusion.

A peaceful place. The small cabin is funky and in need of some screens on the windows to allow for better ventilation. But all in all I enjoyed staying here.

My 18 year old grandson were on our way to Mt. Rushmore for his 18th birthday present. We stayed in the tall cabin. We had planned to stay in the log cabin, Hunter's Haven, but upon seeing the taller cabin with AC, a refrigerator & microwave, three beds (one up on a loft - that's where I slept), we opted to stay there (the day was very hot and humid when we arrived). Beautiful grounds. Very remote and gorgeous view of the night sky! I was tempted to sleep on the picnic table just to enjoy the stars more! God even treated us to a lightning show off on the far horizon which we watched for quite some time. Since I didn't know if the thunderstorms were heading our way I slept inside on the loft. We are from NJ and do not have such a big sky as they do here (too many hills and trees where we live). I love the solitude and quiet. Beautiful! Long dirt road to access the Ranch so be prepared to get your car dusty.
