Gorgeous, lush, otherworldly jungle-like setting amid ponds, open fields and meandering trails. This place is the definition of a hidden gem. Of all the places I’ve camped in the state of Florida, this property truly felt like the middle of nowhere, in all the best ways. In a state so heavily developed and rapidly changing, it’s hard to find any accommodations that feel off the beaten path. Dennis’ property is an exceptions to this reality, and his cabins are as well. The Hermitage is the perfect mix of rustic, charming, comfortable and quaint with a sorta magical Tolkien-esque vibe. My five-year-old son and I stayed here for two days as a little reprieve from our daily grind in St. Pete, and I hope to return sometime I soon with my 10-year-old son, who I’m certain will also love the escape.
As a self proclaimed "nature person", I was looking for a place like this to spend my birthday in… and it was such a great experience, even at the height of wet season. My friends and I can’t wait to come back when it’s drier, cooler and when the creek is more accessible. We really loved the cabin… it was so cool! We also paddled out for a short stretch on the creek and it was absolutely gorgeous. Dennis couldn’t have been a more gracious or accommodating host. Great guy, great property.👌
Words can’t do justice for this amazing place. I’m not good at writing reviews and I do think writing sometimes can’t describe facts, you need to go there to experience it yourself! It’s like a fairy tale, and the host is one of the kindest persons I’ve ever met. I really wish I could have stayed longer! The feeling was surreal.
Staying at the Hermitage Cabin was really lovely. It was so quiet and peaceful on Dennis’s property. We loved being nestled in the jungle, hearing the gators growl, and having time to unplug from our everyday lives. The cabin had everything we needed and more. I highly recommend staying here!
Absolutely to die for!!! This is the cutest most earth-iest little cabin that’s tucked away on a private part of the property. It is an amazing getaway especially if you want to reconnect with nature and step away from society for a little while. I took my boyfriend here for a weekend birthday trip and he was blown away with how cool it was. This is definitely a great place for any couple, with or without kids, for an affordable vacation to remember! Not to mention the amazingg shower that over looks the back half of the property. Dennis the host was also VERY nice and made sure to check in with us upon arrival and make sure we had everything we needed and that it met our standards. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend!!!
