Camping near Albion guide

Overview

Two hours west of Omaha, Albion is an elite gateway to Nebraska’s outdoors and camping. Sleep on the banks of Cedar River at a private tent site, or admire local innovation from a tent and RV site at the annual Comstock Windmill Festival. For public beach camping, head to Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area, just an hour west of Albion. Stroll along the sandhills, boat on the reservoir, visit the fish hatchery, and relax at the end of the day at one of the park’s three campgrounds. Showers, restrooms, a dump station, and partial hookup campsites make it easy to stay a few nights. For a quiet getaway, set up camp at North Loup State Recreation Area. Hike beside the Loup River, fish for bluegill and crappie in the pond, and sleep under the stars at one of 10 primitive campsites near the river.
