Paul is an absolute legend, with an easy relaxed and welcoming vibe, he is a great Hipcamp host. The space he shares with campers is stunning: from the brightly lit stars overhead, different types of terrain to explore and a beautiful lake for swimming and boating (he lends some out to campers) it’s the perfect get away from busy city life. I camped very comfortably with my small kid and then had more family come join us there! Thank you so much for the good humour and hospitality Paul, twas such a delight, hope to book in again next year! :)

We had such a great time camping on Paul’s property. The land was beautiful, the water warm, and Paul was so welcoming. We all enjoyed the paddle boards, and a few of us kayaked to and from the island. We swam, we hiked, we tanned, we paddled, we had fires, and we set off fireworks.

Quiet place with lots to do on the lake: swimming, canoeing and etc. We stayed in the tent by the lake and the morning was so beautiful! Paul is a great host!

2 nights at Glamping With The Stars
This is one of the most memorable camping experiences you could ever have just 1 hour drive from Winnipeg.
Highly recommend for somone looking for quiet, private, safe and comfortable camping!!!
The unique design of the dome will give you the feeling of sleeping under the stars with its transparent ceiling!!
Canoeing in Whiteshell river is a bonus. You will see turtles, eagles, many different varieties of fish and if you are lucky enough even a bear!
Above all you will meet the most friendliest and most accommodating hosts, Amber and Johnny.
We rate this 10 out of 10 for; comfort, cleanliness, price, amenities, location, gueat services and accuracy of information.
We will come again and again!!!

We loved this lovely setting, by far our favorite camp site! Easy to find, great set -up with a fire pit loaded ready to go! The ability to camp in such a natural setting was certainly what we love. Hosts were very helpful and friendly. #1 by far.

Don’s place is a private little oasis. - a world apart from the busy sometimes congested RV camps. You’ll find lots of space, greenery, a rolling meadow, quaint beach with shallow warm water, fire pits, wood delivered to your spot, well kept grounds, quiet atmosphere and best of all a welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable host. I’m a new Rv owner and travelling as a single female. The RV seemed to be overheating, and as I stood there on my phone with the hood up in a little panic Don and his longtime friend and coworker Dave appeared out of nowhere. He explained the issue and even how to fix it crawling right under the rig to show me. Notably, I felt very safe at “The Ranch”. Very impressed with the quality of this place and its host. A gem off the beaten path.

Site four has a great view of the lake along with power. We had pleasant and relaxing 3 days on site. We were lucky the fire ban was off during our stay so we enjoyed a couple of fires. Our host Don was great and met us when we arrived. He allowed us to fill our trailer with water so, we didn't have to haul the water to the site. This site does require some leveling if your staying in a trailer, we would recommend that you bring some blocking. Overall great experience Thx Don!

Awesome! Quiet! Remote! At first you think, Paul clean up the place, but then you realize this is a third generation site. Paul’s grandfather could have piled that fencing there. The homestead is a three generation scrap book. Of our 12 day camping trip this was the best site. Paul is a kind and generous Spirit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Beautiful property and very private site in the forest. The open fields were amazing for a walk with our dog on the cut grass trails. The property is a quick ~ 30 minutes to Winnipeg. There is a railway line to the south which you can occasionally hear but didn’t bother us. The host was able to provide water from their well for our RV water tank on the way in. We will definitely return on our next trip in the area. Loved it!

Overview
About
Visitors have been heading to Whiteshell for over 8,000 years, drawn by ample walleye, northern pike, perch, smallmouth bass, and lake trout. Today, families and outdoor enthusiasts still love the fishing, plus the year-round recreation activities, such as skiing at the Falcon Ridge Ski Slopes or exploring the Bannock Point Petroforms (sacred Indigineous spots with rocks patterns and animal shapes). Thousands of kilometres of trails cross the protected natural area of the park, waiting for you to explore on foot, bike, snowmobile or shoeshoe.

Tips for snagging a campsite
- To reserve a campsite, call ahead or book online on the Manitoba Provincial Parks Reservation site.There is a fee for each reservation and each campsite. Reservations for the following season open mid-April. Most of the campgrounds are connected to the computerized reservation system and will accept same-day bookings.
- Campsites that haven’t been reserved are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If booking for a long weekend, there is a two-night minimum that must include the Saturday night.
When to go
Summer (Victoria Day long weekend in May to Labour Day at the start of September) is high season for campers and cottagers in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Once the fall starts, seasonal campgrounds close and things start to quiet--take advantage of the chance to see wild rice being harvested from canoe. Select campgrounds stay open until Thanksgiving. Winter visits give you the chance to explore the expansive parklands on cross-country skis, snowshoes or from your snowmobile.
Know before you go
- Entry to Manitoba Provincial Parks requires a permit, the cost of which is not included in the price of your campsite. Purchase your permit online ahead of your arrival.
- The larger resorts and campsites have stores and commissaries, so if you run out of supplies or have forgotten something, you’ll be able to stock up.
- Even with all the beaches in Whiteshell, a hot day means crowds. Head out early to snag parking and a spot near the water.
- The Caddy Lake Tunnels are a cool natural feature on Caddy Lake. The distance between the tunnels makes it best for experienced paddlers though, or you may want to rent a boat with a motor.
