Our home was built by Mr. J. L. and Mrs. Gladys Keys in the 1970's. Mrs. Gladys used to work for my Grandmother at the local ladies dress shop. She and her husband often brought us fresh vegetables they raised on their "little piece of heaven." They had no children and all these years later, their idea of heaven became ours to take care of now. We are so blessed here at Payne Lane Farms.
You can safely camp in your travel trailer minutes off of I-20 on our wooded, rural lot minutes from town, convenience stores, food, and even dump stations.
The front orchard provides a refuge of shade and privacy while also allowing you to see everything around you. Rayville, Louisiana has great history and heritage and some fun artifacts to explore if you have an adventurous spirit. Good people and family owned businesses if services are needed while enroute-traveling.

Pull thru the front by turning to right of the mail box and not using the driveway! Maybe a little off road, but this is the country and it won’t hurt to just drive thru the yard sometimes.
Fresh eggs for sale $3.50 dozen and maybe some fresh vegetables at $3.00 per pound, but ask us as we don't push them. Canning pantry does have inventory for easy meals.

The historic French built antebellum plantation home and gardens was built circa 1793-1820. The home and gardens is located on the Ouachita River. I built a culinary herb farm and nursery on the plantation grounds, in which I was named after by my family. My farm is called Louisiana Herbs LLC. Host Jen was quick to reply to my concerns. She offered a resolution that, though it would have cost me quite a bit more, would have helped me out with a detail I missed in the listing. When that resolution turned out to be unavailable at the last minute, Jen helpfully reminded me that it was my mistake in the first place and honored the original charge with no further inconvenience to the host. I wasn’t able to use the reservation or be refunded, however intend to book these accommodations again when my attention to detail improves! (Thanks Jen for the good advice!) Even as a self-described new host with a recently purchased and expensive property, she is very committed to justice and it’s always so refreshing to meet someone who keeps us on our toes! Immaculate mowed lawn area perfect for a tent. Bucolic setting on a small farm. No picnic tables but I used my camping table and it was fine. I did see a fire ring. Bugs disappeared after sunset and temps dropped. Refreshing and relaxing overnight stay with wifi and a shower.

I enjoyed my stay at Williams. I had the place to myself for the night. It was very nice to allow my dog to run free off the leash. The summer heat in September was still in the 90s, but the outside shower came in clutch to cool off and refresh. It was the first time my dog saw a horse! I think shes mesmerized. Only downside would be the bugs. Make sure you bring some spray. I didn't realize how bad I got chewed on until a few days later. There is a train that passes by so be aware of that for anyone that's trying to completely get away from city life.

Don't use google maps to find the place. Use the mail box numbers. The best thing about this place is the feeling of security. Just across the street is a very nice neighborhood and if you keep walking you get to a huge cross on IH20. The hosts were very nice and accommodating.

The camping area is very large and very secluded. It is mowed grass surrounded by old pecan trees. It is next to a river, but with my bad knees I didn't venture to the top of the dike. Breston invited me in for seafood gumbo and cornbread. I had a great chat with him. I also met his father. I gave him some money for the meal, but I had no problem with that. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys southern hospitality.

Savage Lane Farm, and its proprietor William, are phenomenal. I rolled into the farm and William met me in the drive, along with his two super dogs. The grounds were clean and inviting. An outdoor shower was available, though I didn’t use it. The location made for great star gazing and the night was quiet.
