Spending time at Wellknown Buffalo was a unique experience for us. We left more aware of the history of the local indigenous groups and appreciative of their collective resilience. It was good to know that the profit goes back to support local youth

If you’re looking for a truly unique camping experience while visiting the Little Bighorn Battlefield, this is the place. Just a short distance from the battlefield itself, the campsite is located where more than 2,000 Cheyenne once camped, and where women, children, and elders remained during the historic battle. Staying here offers a rare opportunity to connect with the land and its sacred history. While the site is close to I-90 and the railroad, you won’t find a camping experience this close to the battlefield—and with this much historical significance—anywhere else.

Peggy and Mila were so welcoming and generous during our stay. The experience with them at their camp as they set up for Crow Fair was truly a once in a life time experience! The tipi was great and we really enjoyed learning about the history and culture of the Crow from the stories everyone shared. They went above and beyond in accommodating us and we would love to come back to stay anywhere with Peggy and Mila again!

We wanted an authentic rustic tipi camping experience near a river and more isolated. We got that and loved it. We did each have a twin bed and there was a porta John. We had a stove, water, and camping supples, so we were very happy. I was even provided with worms and a fishing pole so I caught a catfish which we had for supper. Peggy Wellknown Buffalo and Mila Big Hair were very accommodating. This was our favorite place
