The beautiful Greenbrier River (the location of our favorite swimming hole) is a 5 minute drive down Locust Creek Rd + a 2 minute drive to the historic Locust Creek covered bridge. The small town of Hillsboro (birthplace of Nobel Prize winning author Pearl S. Buck) is 5 miles away with a restaurant (The Hillsboro Public House) + two gas stations. We are surrounded by the Monongahela National Forest with many state parks available less than a 15 minute drive from the property. There are many remarkable places to see while you're visiting; Cranberry Wilderness area, Watoga State Park, Bear Town State Park, Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park, the Highland Scenic Highway + a little further North up 219 is Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort; a favorite for skiing + snowboarding, mountain biking, music (4848 Festival) + many other outdoor activities!

We have fields, a wooded area with a trail, a Lookout, an area with swings/picnic tables/grill/fire pit. The views of the mountains are absolutely incredible here at WestWinds Venue! It’s so private, you can hear the birds chirping in the day and frogs croaking at night!

Looking for an affordable place to park your car, camper-van, or tent in Blacksburg? That's us! We are located 20 minutes from downtown Blacksburg and Virginia tech but with a country atmosphere and a view of the New River.
Our home is also home to three cats, a dog (who is fenced and quiet), chickens, and two peacocks. We would prefer you not bring an animal of your own unless it is leased at all times and well-trained.
We have a picnic table and a fire pit. We also have an electric hookup and a trash can on the front porch for your use. Our home and campsite have a river view, BUT NO river access. Please do not cross onto our neighbors' property! However, if you want to access the river, the New River Junction is .5 miles down the road and has tube rentals from late spring to early fall!
Our home is easy to find, turn from Price's Fork rd onto McCoy rd and follow it to the end (approx 7 miles). Turn right at the stop sign, and we are to the left of Big Falls in .3 miles. Our house is visible from the road and has a trampoline and chickens roaming.
Be aware, there is limited cell service and NO easily accessible bathroom. Pee jars and camp toilets welcome. You can use our toilet inside if we are home. There is also a train a couple of times a day. We think it's pretty quiet, but you be the judge! Happy camping!

My wife and I tent camped for a few nights. The site surrounded by mountains is beautiful and peaceful. Ducks and geese in the lake. An absolutely stunning waterfall just a 5 minute walk away. A meandering hillside trail perfectly shaded and teaming with mushrooms, deer, rabbits, and other wildlife. Several very friendly dogs also paid us a visit. This restorative retreat was exactly what we didn’t know we needed. Can’t wait to introduce the kids to this gem.
The surrounding area was also a treat, with the Beartown boardwalk trail, the Greenbrier river where we went swimming everyday at the pebble covered beach. The Amish farm market where we had breakfast Saturday morning and so so much more. We honestly can’t wait to go back. If I could post pictures in this review I would.

We had a great time! Holly and her husband were super kind and did the best they could to make our time enjoyable. Nice swimming hole, waterfall and hiking. Definitely very rustic camping. The restroom and shower are a little walk but not bad. Take a tour and learn the history of the property because it’s pretty cool and explains a lot.

Amazing views and very hospitable hosts. Our kids loved running around the open spaces. We stayed in our van but there were many spots perfect for tent camping. Bathrooms were also very clean. 10/10 would recommend.

LOVED the quiet nature of the Gesundheit Institute. We were welcomed by an individual who lives on the land. It was so peaceful, and we were free to roam the area without interruption. Perfect disconnect from the hustle, bustle, and electronic interruptions of the world.

Breathtaking views and quiet. My family enjoyed an incredible spring night at WestWinds as we travelled across the state in a 27' RV. Lynne was an excellent hostess, providing clear directions to drive into her remote property deep in the Jefferson National Forest. The West Winds grounds include a large barn converted into a wedding venue, which includes two restrooms. The site looks out across many miles of forested hilltops with no other homes in site. During our stay, we were the only guests, and the sense of peace was divine. Late in the evening, our family enjoyed the swinging chairs, stargazing at the spectacular sky, and the quite peace that is West Winds. We can't say enough about Lynne and her hospitality. We look forward to our next visit!
