We love our dark skies and open horizons, and we want to share them with you! Shepherd's Camp offers shaded tent sites in our windbreak with beautiful sunset views and access to a classic sheepherders wagon for additional shelter. The Bunkhouse will be available starting May 25 for those seeking a ranch cabin experience. Cloverdale Ranch is home base for the healing hooves of our large herd of goats. Watching kids cavort in the pasture is a delight! We manage 100+ goats every summer, essential to providing natural vegetation management to manage weeds, reduce fire fuels and recycle carbon back into the soil. Explore our 80 acres of rangeland and meadow on foot or by mountain bike (no motorized bikes). This is one of the rare places that is BETTER than the pictures! More like a nice hotel suite with a kitchen. Comfy extra wide bunks for my two teenagers and a private bedroom for us. So many thoughtful little touches—cool lamps, toiletries, and you don’t have to go outside for the immaculate bathroom. It’s in an RV/bunkhouse resort, so you walk or drive a bit to recreation. We were there to see the Grand Coulee—spectacular free night light show at the Dam and the turbine tour in the morning. (Free.) I include the picture of the view from the back bedroom because, while it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it’s very much mine. I was there to show my kids the immense scale of inland industrial infrastructure. There were decoupling trains in the early morning and my 17 year old and I watched the engines—and the deer—and talked about what it took to build American civilization, from the silos to the trains to the dams. It turned philosophical. Absolutely loved it and will be back.
