In sharing our love of this place, in welcoming others to walk, play or to sit quietly in the forest, or at river shore, like a rising tide, we’re all lifted. Learn more about this land: A 30 acre riverfront forest with campsite, a fire pit and our welcome to wander alongside Pend Oreille River frontage. All enjoyed in solitude.  The 719 acre farm is operated by elders who revere the out-of-doors, believing immersion in nature naturally, quietly teaches. It makes for better humans-being. Hipcamp dollars support natural means of improving soil health on the farm. Camper's choice of homemade cinnamon rolls or scones on the first morning, a 16x16' tent platform, Separette toilet, potable water, dock for fishing or foot dangling, warm-weather-(ambient)-heated water for rinse-off (sort-of showering) and a canoe to enjoy. A well-controlled, four-legged companion that can be trusted to not chase wildlife would also be welcome.  *Please let host know in-advance of intention to bring a pet. Welcome to the base of the beautiful Selkirk mountains, we’re nestled in between the beautiful lake resort town of Sandpoint ID and the picturesque resort area know at priest lake. Our property was originally homesteaded back before Idaho was a state by a trapper who fell in love with this lush little valley in the mountains. Once Idaho did become a state, the officials decided to keep the land surrounding this little oasis making it completely surrounded by thousands of acres of state endowment land usable to the public. There are three full time creeks that run though the property along with a few beaver made ponds and one large man made swimming pond. The site boasts hundreds of campsites ranging from dry RV parking to small tents on rock ledges overlooking the lush valley. Expect to see deer, elk, moose, turkey and a few other wild animals roaming the land around you. We have the space for event camping as well, we have a large covered gazebo for shaded group meals. Furthermore there is also a band stand for ceremonies and live music on select dates. We’re only 12 miles from town but you get that feeling of being out of the rush of the outside world.

Cloverdale Ranch is home base for the healing hooves of our large herd of goats. Our does started kidding (i.e. mama goats giving birth) May 9th and will continue into June. Watching them cavort in the pasture is a delight. We manage 200+ goats every summer, essential to providing natural vegetation management to manage weeds, reduce fire fuels and recycle carbon back into the soil. We love our dark skies and open horizons, and we want to share them with you. We have shaded tent sites in our windbreak with beautiful sunset views and access to a classic sheepherders wagon for additional shelter. The Bunkhouse is a work in progress, and a great deal this first summer. Explore our 80 acres of rangeland and meadow on foot or by mountain bike. Sara’s cabin was a perfect last stop on our road trip. It was so clean, quiet, and cozy. The morning stroll through the property down to the river with the dogs was refreshing and peaceful. I wished I could have stayed longer! I would absolutely go back on any future Spokane trips.

What a great setup! All the campsites are well marked and easy to get to, even in the dark. It’s a great setup to bring multiple families who want to share a camping experience but have your own space for a person camp experience. Kara the camp host was very good at responding to communication and let my boys and I enjoy some peace and quiet together. The bathroom was cleans and well stocked. We had a blast and would love to come back again!

The water is shallow and navigable even for dogs who don't have a ton of water confidence!

Weekend Trip to Prater mountain ranch

I had a peaceful and quiet time at this lovely property. I booked for the weekend and ended up being the only one there. Will was a great host and checked in on me daily. My dog and I had a wonderful time. We chilled in the morning, had a swim in the lovely pond, a nice walk and a nap then sat by the fire in the evening. Couldn't be better. Highly recommend and looking forward to going to one of the music festivals the owners hold there!!! Thank you so much.

We enjoyed our stay at Sara's spot. The river was peaceful and she had all the things needed to have a pleasant experience - picnic table, lawn chairs, inner tube floaters and my favorite a glider rocking bench. When booking the site we thought we could drive in and out of the place to visit relatives in Spokane. Sara's place was perfectly situated to the city however the rough and rutty road to her rv parking spot was not something we wanted to drive on every day. Fortunately we found some different solutions and Sara was very patience and accommodating to our situation. She also communicates well through hip camp texting.

Weekend Trip to Riverfront Solitude

This is our second year at Matt and Susan’s place and we plan to return next year again. We love this spot! My sons and I spent the weekend in solitude enjoying good food, board games, and the river! Susan’s fresh cinnamon rolls are the cherry on top of a wonderful experience. We enjoyed swimming and paddle boarding around from the private dock, playing games by lamplight, and watching the wildlife around us. Highly recommend! We’ll be back!

We truly enjoyed ourselves at The Bunk House. Stayed two nights. The amenties were on point and made it so easy to last minute plan a mini trip. We only needed food and clothes. We spent most of our days down at the river. The kids loved playing all day in the water. Floaties included. Sara is a very attentive host. Her two dog's were awesome and were great with our small baby dog. Great vibes! We will be back!!

Brown Barrel has huge potential to become a really nice spot to get away for some quiet time. We wish we had known that we would be the only ones there as our spot was extremely dusty as it appeared to be more recently established and there was another spot that had gravel and would been a more pleasant spot to set up camp. Generally, the "camp ground" was pretty rough. The flush toilet was a major bonus even though we were fully prepared to dry camp. Our dogs appreciated being able to be off leash.

This was further out than we expected, but it was great. The pond looked a little murky but was actually very cool and with such hot temps we were thankful for it. Large space (field) to choose where you want to camp. Or dogs loved to run and we appreciated not needing to keep them leashed. But that because we were the only ones there. It would be different if there were more campers around.

They are extremely kind hearted hosts and have a breathtakingly beautiful property along the Pend Orielle River they take great stewardship of. The camp site is very spacious, private, and well accommoted with amenities. We camp a fair amount and this is the best we've ever stayed at. Sara has gone beyond expectations to make her land fun-filled, clean and attractive, and outfitted for a perfect camping experience. A thoughtful communicator and animal lover, Sara took the time necessary to introduce our dogs to each other and to us. They were delightful to be around. As for the river experience, it couldn't have been better...watching people on float-downs while we anchored in a big floatie (which she provided) all afternoon. The covered fire pit was surrounded by really nice chairs and plenty of firewood was nearby. What a great place to find right on the riverbank! We'll be back! Highly recommend!

What a way to escape reality for a bit! The land was beautiful and quiet. Directions were clear and concise! The Outhouses were clean and maintained well and bonus wood was provided, just be prepared to cut it (: we personally didn’t swim in the pond, but it was really well maintained. It would be an amazing spot for Early- Mid fall! We didn’t use them, but grills and were there if you bring propane. Overall a beautiful experience, would be fun to do a big family group trip or retreat here!

5 nights at Riverfront Solitude

This was our second stay with Susan and Matt, and we loved it so much the first time that we booked another trip just a month later. Without question, this is the most special campsite we’ve ever experienced. The location is incredible—right on the river, nestled in a serene grove of cedar and larch. There’s a unique and calming energy in the trees that makes the whole place feel magical. The river was the perfect temperature, and we spent hours swimming, lounging on the dock, watching eagles hunt, and soaking in the breathtaking sunsets. At night, the sky comes alive with stars, completely free from city lights. Susan and Matt are the ideal hosts—respectful of privacy, yet always just a text away if you need anything. Staying here feels like coming home, and we can’t wait to return again.
