Tri Mountain View Campground is located in the Northeast corner of Tennessee in the town of Shady Valley. With an elevation of 2,800 feet, Shady Valley is the second highest town in Tennessee. It is just 26 miles from the Bristol Raceway and the Bristol Caverns. It is just a 15 minute drive to Backbone rock and a short drive to the Appalachian Trail. The property was a Dairy Farm and went out of business in the late 90’s and since then there has been over 3,000 trees planted. Some of these trees include the rare Butternut and Hazelnut, but mostly White Pine, Walnut and Oaks. The property has approximately 1,000 feet of fishing on Beaver dam creek, so we recommend bringing waders. There is also a shower house, washer and dryer.

This camping experience takes place on a 200+ year old farm. We currently offer multiple camping options, most of which are only accessible by either all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicles. The first location (along the main road) is solely for RVs or travel trailers (TT). The other camping locations are for tent camping, and much smaller/narrower and rugged RV/TT with a 4-wheel drive towing vehicle. Daniel and Cherith Kennedy purchased this 164-acre farm in 2014, and Daniel's parents, Brent Rita Kennedy, purchased the 1800's era farmhouse from Daniel and Cherith a couple years later. Together, we have transformed this farm back into a working farm with hay fields, cattle, donkeys, goats, sheep, chickens and any other critters we buy or rescue. We are currently rehabilitating the 1700's era one room schoolhouse at the front corner of our land as well. This farm is full of memories, hard work, and is absolutely stunning. Your hosts on-site are Brent and Rita Kennedy, and they are famous for spoiling our guests rotten. They can give you tours of the farm, some in-season eggs and veggies as they have available, and even throw in some petting opportunities. They love having visitors and are sure to make your trip memorable. Strategic Location for peaceful camping with lots of nearby options. Camping is very primitive and rustic as new amenities come online in planned future. The best time of booking is the weekend at present. We have: Wooded/Grassy hills with plenty of tree cover and open space to spread out . A uniquely positioned community fire pit is available with an impressive view. It is very rustic and primitive, but well kept, quiet, secluded, with developing surroundings. There is direct access to Jefferson National Forest and miles of hiking, biking and horseback trails. Equestrians encouraged, but is Bring your own horse and Tie Line. Nearby sites include Bark Camp Lake, Guest River Gorge, Bear Rock, Little Stony Falls, Chief Benge Trail, Devils Bath Tub, and High Knob. We are also located along several driving and scenic routes to include: Backroads of the Cumberland's, Appalachian Backroads, Virginia Wildlife and Birding Trail, and Thomas Jefferson Scenic Byway (Rt. 72). We grew up visiting "Grandparents" in Wise County and developed a deep love for the area, the outdoors, and all it had to offer. Great place to set up and tent camp, they tree's give you lot's of set up options and the bath house was very nice and close. There are RV spots as well and the folks there were all very nice. Got to meet the owner and his brother and both made sure we had everything we needed as it was a cold wet weekend.

The site is as described. True primitive campsite with the ability to camp wherever your feet or vehicle can make it. I stayed at the furthest point past the pond. Parked right next to a babbling brook and took in the peace. He has scrap wood (dry) for fires, a workshop bathroom w/hot water. David was a fantastic host and appreciate him giving us the opportunity to stay on his land.

Tom’s camper was the perfect getaway on a long weekend for this single mama and two kiddos! It’s perfectly located between the region’s three state parks, with cozy beds, ample heat, plenty of towels and bedding, and all the kitchenware needed. The hot tub, hammock, and fire pit were perfect - the wood and snores supplies were a great touch! The outdoor tv/projection screen were super easy to figure out thanks to their excellent instructions. My kids can’t wait to come back!

The most amazing views from camp!! Our hosts were very friendly, the bed was comfortable, and the provided space heater kept the yurt toasty warm on a 50 degree night. The yurt was a great alternative to setting up a tent and I felt like the price was incredible compared to similar options.

Such a great spot, with lovely hosts. The historical farm with its big red barn and pretty stream was just perfect. The setting is quiet and rural; barn cats and the lowing of faraway cows in the background really add to the charm. The bathroom and private, outdoor shower add just that little bit of luxury you need to help take the edge off at the end of the day.

What an incredible experience! This was unlike any other tent pad campsite we have ever been to. We started our day by exploring historic Abingdon then made a short 25 min drive to the camp site. We started our evening by the cozy fire pit where we took in the view of the mountains around us and cooked our dinner on the fire pits grill grate. No traffic sounds, no stress, just the sounds of nature, the crackle of the fire and the sizzle of a warm meal. We then went back to the well kept and clean camping pad and to an amazing view. The owners clearly put in a lot of work to the campsite and the beautiful flowering landscape around it. We watched the sunset over the misty mountains and turned in for the night. The next morning we used the solar powered bath house. The shower was gas heated so we both had hot water for a shower. The compost toilet was well maintained and clean, complete with a sink to wash our hands. The host was extremely kind and walked us through how to operate the facilities. To be honest, for the price, I wasn’t expecting much but I was blown away by the beauty, peace, comfort, and kindness that we experienced. Highly recommended. Best campsite we’ve been to yet. We will definitely make this a tradition for years to come. Next time we plan to do more hiking in the near by Channels nature preserve.
