We've worked hard to preserve the park's vintage charm while adding modern amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Our recent upgrades include a fenced-in dog park where your furry friends can roam freely, a cozy sunken fire pit for evening gatherings, and a game area featuring horseshoe, corn hole, and tetherball for family fun.
The old office has been completely remodeled, now housing air-conditioned private bathroom and shower for your convenience. We’ve also added an air-conditioned coin laundry room to make your stay even more comfortable. For those looking to explore the outdoors, we offer horseback riding and hunting opportunities on the adjacent ranch property we acquired.

This is all brand new so we're still working to get things going. We're here to accommodate travelers passing through with inexpensive overnight options as they go down Route 66. Our primary business is our gift shop but we're trying to meet the needs of travelers as well.
No onsite restroom available yet but it's a short walk/bike ride/ car ride to public restrooms but we recommend discussing this ahead of time. RVs need to be self sufficient but we have one site with electricity available.

Our inspiration for Back Forty RV Park comes from our Dad, JT Lindsey.
J.T. and wife Lucille bought these 40 acres of land in 1972, moved their family into the farm house desperately needing attention, and raised their three children here. JT worked his entire life in agriculture as a farmer and cattle rancher. He was smart, hard working, and very mechanically inclined-he could fix anything! He was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, Nascar, and a good cup of coffee, but he loved his family the most. Summer vacation was RVing in Colorado, New Mexico, Tennessee, Alabama, South Dakota and Florida but only after harvest was done and the fields were plowed!
Daddy was taken from us way too soon, but his love and affection for his family has remained with us through the years. His image appears in our signs and logos taken from our favorite photo. It’s our hope you feel like you are coming back home at Back Forty RV Park.
Back Forty RV Park is a local owned park located in Quanah, Tx. Conveniently on US Hwy 287 between Amarillo and Dallas/Fort Worth. Our rural Texas location has wide open skies, amazing sunsets and beautiful sunrises. We offer a quiet, clean and friendly park for an overnight visit or long term resident who is working in the area. Park sits on 40 acres and includes 40 gravel pads, 12 pull thru and 28 back-ins.

Very simple campsite right off I-40. Perfect overnight stay. Shower was wonderful. There are laundry facilities too. Also, a pretty nice play area for kids and adults.

Easy to find and pull into. Nice laundry facility. Beside historic Route 66. Also beside the interstate, so if that kind of noise disrupts your sleep, this may not be the best place for you. It didn't bother me. Cute decorations for the autumn season and a huge community fireplace with wood was a nice touch.

Burl met us promptly when we arrived and graciously offered us any site we wanted. We chose a site next to the bathhouse because it was a bit further from the road. All the sites have full hookups and are mostly level. Burl and his family live on this working farm with horses, goats, chickens, and probably a lot more that we didn’t see. The bathhouse has a laundry room and one shower/bathroom that were cool and clean. We enjoyed watching them work with the horses after dinner and sitting in the rocking chairs in the shade. I recommend Deepcreek Ranch and would certainly stay there again. We couldn’t resist buying a few dozen farm fresh eggs for our journey.

Burl was a great host. I was moto camping across the country, rent camping every night. When I got to Deep Creek Ranch the wind 25-30 miles an hour. It was nearly impossible to set up my tent, but when I did I was afraid it would be crushed and torn to shreds by the strong winds. Burl allowed me to set up anywhere on his 250 plus acres of property, wherever I could find out of the wind. He even offered to let me hang out in any of the empty buildings or his office until the wind died down. I ended up setting up in a dirt floor carport out of the wind. Once I was set up I was able to wash clothes and take a shower in the provided facilities. It was a good stay and I would recommend without hesitation.
Please note that if you are tent camping, you are only a couple hundred yards away from the interstate and trucks go by all night. It didn't bother me but you may want to bring earplugs.
