The Brazos Electric Power Plant is located on the lake. The power plant helps to keep the water warmer during the winter months keeping the fishing better in that area where an 83-pound Flathead Catfish was known to be caught. Lake Palo Pinto RV Park is just 14 minutes to Palo Pinto, 25 minutes to Mineral Wells, and about an hour from Fort Worth. It is north of I-20 about 10 miles. Nearby points of interest include Clark Gardens Botanical Park, Holiday Hills Country Club, Mineral Well Fossil Park, The National Vietnam War Museum. Take The Baker Hotel ghost walk tour, where you can learn about the historical significance of the hotel, its ghostly inhabitants, and the history of the City of Mineral Wells. Downtown Mineral Wells is home to more than 20 murals featuring everything from flying pigs to human-sized butterflies and interactive murals to portrayals of local people from days gone past. Downtown Mineral Wells has over 100 historic buildings with boutiques, antique shops, and specialty stores, plus restaurants that offer patio dining and live music. Mineral Wells was named for and is still famous for its mineral waters. The town boomed as a health resort after 1885, when the Crazy Well was dug. Gordon Center for Industrial History preserves, documents, and researches the industrial history of Thurber, Texas, which was once a thriving coal mining company town of 10,000 people and now a ghost town. Thurber was located near the southern Palo Pinto County line. Visitors can see reconstructions of Thurber’s mercantile store, livery stable, the town bandstand, the 655-seat opera house, and the Snake Saloon, which once boasted one of the largest horseshoe-shaped bars in the United States. The Mineral Wells Fossil Park at the old City of Mineral Wells landfill’s borrow pit, which closed in the early 1990s but then revealed fossils documenting ancient sea species such as crinoids, echinoids, and other historic sea life from the Pennsylvania Period over 300 million years ago. Fossil collecting is allowed in designated areas only, and only surface collecting is allowed with small gardening tools at the park. Take a guided tour of Guest Ranch Exotic Game Hunting where you will see their different species of antelope, buffalo, deer, and sheep. The best times to go on this tour are early mornings and late afternoons, and the cost of the tours begin at $35.00. Check out the Palo Pinto Mountain State Park that comprises 4,871 acres of former ranch land about 23 miles west of Palo Pinto Creek Reservoir. When fully developed, this park will offer hiking, camping, fishing, stargazing, and other outdoor activities. Plateaus with beautiful vistas overlook sheltered canyons. Palo Pinto Creek winds through the northern border of the park. A dam on Russell Creek impounds the 90-acre Tucker Lake, the centerpiece of the park. Plans for the park include an extensive network of multi-use trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Trails will lead to remote areas of the park with expansive vistas.

It was wonderful. Very polite. Got to roam around the ranch saw a plethora of animals. Listening to the coyotes at sunrise and sunset. Watching the monarch butterflies fly through camp was magical. The ranch operator and his wife (I’m so sorry I forgot their names) were so polite and nice the doggo too!. They were able to help out with fire wood. Clean facilities, drinking water available. Just great.

This place was the perfect camping spot for our family. We got very lucky and had the entire campsite area to ourselves which was amazing. The property itself was beautiful. Tons of shade from all the trees, lots to do like volleyball, hiking trails etc. we didn’t kayak the river like we planned to do but we enjoyed Cisco lake only 20 minutes away. The only downside is it is right by ther highway and so it’s pretty loud especially at night but that won’t detour us from staying here again. We will definitely be back especially if nobody else is camping in that area during the time. It was a great experience for sure.

We had a great time as a group of two families staying at Lake Godstone- Top of the Dam camp spot. The kids LOVED fishing and catching baby frogs, us adults enjoyed the stargazing and hiking trails that are graveled and shaded which made trekking with littles easier. The Camp managers were very kind checking on us often helping with any items we needed- we absolutely loved how gracious and accommodating they were to our needs. (firewood, worms for fishing, even helped with an ant issue we were facing). The campsite was very rocky so if you book Top of the Dam make sure to bring a tarp for your tent protection and padding to sleep on. The only thing I would mention that we would have liked done better was the condition of the port-a-potty at our assigned campsite. To say the least it was not fit for human use. It was filled with maggots and when the wind caught it just right the stench swept over our camping site- so if you stay at the Top of the Dam be prepared to take a walk on the trails to reach the comfort station. we luckily packed a travel toilet for our littles, and it saved us for this trip. Also, a note, if you explore or book the treehouse location the stairs are very steep and narrow. we did not do our due diligence before letting our kiddos run up the stairs and on one's way down, she missed a narrow step and fell down the staircase. so please be careful if you choose that spot. Overall, we had a blast and will be back!

If you’re looking for a relaxing and peaceful getaway then this is the perfect place. It seemed like we were the only ones there as the properties are far from each other. The dock is great for fishing! Our boys loved to jump off the diving board to cool off. This house is great as it’s fully equipped that you can pack just the necessities. We got to see donkeys, long horn and deer. It was a fun little getaway. Definitely a repeat trip.

Little off Lake House was a sweet spot to get away for a couple of days with our sons. We were tucked away and had just about one of the best views a person could want and need to rest their minds for a bit. The fishing was fun, they're plentiful, and Kellie providing the option adding on the barge topped it off. We played ping pong, watched movies and enjoyed the deck. The house was clean, mowed around and the AC works great. I would definitely recommend this place to unwind Thank y'all to Kellie and family for sharing with us :).

It's a nice place, some areas are still being built up, so when I went was the 4th of July, so it was very warm, thankfully they have a pool! It was a very nice way to cool off from the summer sun, and the shaved ice was there that day which was also very nice, everyone there was very nice and helpful, it's a shame I was affected by the heat and couldn't stay overnight, would definitely recommend for families who like to swim and fish, if there was a hiking trail I didn't go down it since things were very muddy from the summer rain, all in all, it's all about when you go and what you want to do.
