Jen and Joe moved to the South Carolina Upstate in 2023 and discovered they were within minutes of the Foothills Trail. The trail is 76.2 miles of waterfalls, rivers, and mountains stretching from Oconee State Park to Table Rock State Park. As soon as the oldest child moved out of his room above the garage, we started hosting thru-hikers hostel-style. Fair warning: it’s an “open concept” bathroom, true studio style. Great for one person but could be awkward for two. **Please note: all reviews pre-May 2023 are for Flamingo Pad, our now-closed RV site in Tampa** We love meeting new people and helping them enjoy all the beauty and adventure in the upstate. This property is situated on 50 acres, surrounded by private property with views of the nearby Pisgah National Forest and a 10 minute drive to DuPont State Forest. Campsites are adjacent to the French Broad River. Excellent fishing and boating. It is heavily populated by deer and other wildlife. For this reason, dogs must be kept on a leash. Please note that due to the campground being in low-lying land, the drive in is subject to being slick and muddy, 4WD is required. Message us with any questions. Due to the property proximity to the river and situated in floodway, the sites are subject to flooding during heavy rain events. Voluntary and/or mandatory evacuation may be necessary during any reservation due to high waters or forecast for high water events. If evacuation is necessary, unused portions of reservation will be refunded. Campers are advised to be self-sufficient with water and shower facilities. We do provide a port a potty and firewood is for sale on site (Venmo, PayPal or cash). IF YOU ARE CAMPING WITH A RV OR TRAILER, PLEASE CONTACT US TO DISCUSS A SITE. All sites can accommodate smaller RV camper units. However, larger RV's have limited site availability. Campsites are situated along the river edge. Embankments are steep and near deep water. Although not prohibited, constant supervision for children is a must to avoid serious injury due to natural hazards. A nice spot for the night not far from I-85. Multiple sites in the woods or in the field. Road and site surfaces are grass. Not suited for anything over 30ft. No trailers. Enjoy a tranquil night in the country. Look for the 2480-B Highway 417 address sign. BMW, Michelin, Greenville, Woodruff and Spartanburg are all a short drive from our campsites. Enjoy all that the upstate of South Carolina offers with our sites as your basecamp.

We are less than 5 minutes from the entrance to Paris Mountain State Park which boasts amazing hiking, fishing, and mountain biking. Our property is situated along a popular cyclist route and only five miles to downtown Greenville. Be sure to bring your bike! Excellent location if you are trying to camp close to the city, but also want to be close to an amazing state park.

It is impossible to state how lovely this location and hosts are! Every accommodation and possible need was sumptiuously met. The room had a plush sense of comfort and a thoughtful design for utility. It is a perfect location for endless hiking and historical adventures, and the town of Pickens is adorable yet also full of every necessary type of shop or eatery. The property is impeccable and peaceful. The hosts clearly love their home, town and nature. They were deeply kind and were a wealth of information about area hikes and destinations!

Lovely view of the river, and the drive through the cornfield was fun! It rained and I saw why 4wd was necessary. Campsites are a little close together but still relatively private.

The sites are nice a shaded. Host is great. One thing I will say is there is no way you can paddle in to these sites. Im guessing the hurricane wasted the bank away. It is a straight drop.

I absolutely adored staying in this tiny home! The property and space was very peaceful and cozy to stay on. I stayed with my boyfriend and dog and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Just be mindful that it’s in fact a tiny home and has just enough space for what you need. Honestly there’s no need to stay inside for long anyways because there’s so much nearby to explore so we were rarely inside the space. Would highly recommend for a quick getaway!

Good communication with Patrick, much appreciated. The road in does have several muddy spots. To pass them you’ll need to stay to the right or left (don’t put your tires into the ruts) and accelerate to maintain forward momentum is important. The sites themselves are tidy and have a nice view of the river. The picnic tables are made of composite material and well-put together. There is also a sturdy metal fire pit which is nice.

In town for some mtn biking. Pisgah stable road was closed where we normally camp. Davidson river campsite was full but we got on the wait list. That didn’t come thru. Hipcamp gave us our best option - and accommodating last minute. Cars be warned - the road to the sites was muddy with some deep ruts. I made it to the site with my 2 wheel drive truck but had to move fast thru the sections. Was part of the fun. Great location. We were sure 23. 2 cars backed in no prob. 3 tents fit easily. Close to portopotty and firewood. Getting into the river required skill and we used a tow rope to rappel down. All good. Hope to do it again some time.

Patrick is a wondeful and accomdating host. Site 2 was beautifully shaded just as the picture shows. There was a good amount of rain before and during my stay. The recommendation for 4WD is a fair one. It set and met my expectation, and met that expectation. It's of course relative to your comfort level. I had my minivan and was ok. Thank you for sharing your space with us.
