My Little Shack is a wooden structure property with kitchen and living room open spaces, it has 1 private room with 1 full bunk bed and another full size bed, one bathroom. No a/c, tv, microwave, hot water. Capacity for 4 adults.
By kayak you may visit, preferably at new moon night, one of the 20ths world's unique Bioluminiscent Bay. PR has 3 and one of those is just minutes away to experience!
You'll get to the shack house by a dirty and bumpy road, 32 steps up stairs, must be in shape!
Also you can anchor your boat almost in front of the property (there is no dock for boats there, but you may dock your dingy while visiting Parguera Village, advanced notification has to be made for arrangement.)
Birds, lizzards, manatees, starfishes, stingrays, dolphins, brilliant stars night and breathtaking blue skies, don't say about our sunsets and sunrises! Amazing cays are another natural atractions, ask for Mata La Gata sea pool area. Water in front of the house isn't suitable for swimming if you are not related to waters surrounded by mangroves but you may visit Parguera sea sighting by your boat, by in site boat rental at Parguera, parasailing, diving and many other tours... By car there are plenty of different kind of beaches at nearby towns. There are safe trails to explore.

This is a rural and country property, surrounded by nature and creeks, with direct access to Cidra Lake. Drive carefully, but all vehicles can get access without problems. Vehicles like a Toyota Camry, an SUV, or a 4x4.
Other things to note
Use only Google Maps to drive to the property; you can get lost if you use other apps like Apple Maps. Remember this is a rural area with just a few traffic lights; we highly recommend arriving early the 1st time to get familiarized with the area.Wi-Fi: There is no Wi-Fi signal in Grandpa's house, but if you need to use it, you can access the Wi-Fi service close to the main house.You will be in the middle of 5 acres of land, in total contact with nature and in an emblematic property from the 50's. In simple words: there are no screens on the windows, and you sleep with a mosquito net. Insects are a vital part of the flora and fauna, and you can see a wide variety of them in the surroundings, from lizards to fireflies. In the same way, and despite the fact that we have an exterminator visit every 2 weeks, sometimes they can be inside the grandfather's house. A real, genuine, and magical experience.For those not familiar with the local driving conditions, it's advisable to approach the journey with a sense of adventure and patience. The roads, while providing an authentic experience of the country's topography, may require a bit of adaptability from drivers more accustomed to city driving.Compact vehicles are more than capable of reaching our hidden oasis. To get to the rock shelter you need to do a short hike in a rocky trail, mostly steep, sometimes muddy and climb an inclined (drilled into the rock and ground) 10ft ladder with no hand rails.

Group trip
This was our second time in six months and still rate this a five! The location is simply "marvelous" and this time around we changed our strategy: we were not going to get a better view to watch the sunset and so, instead of going out to dinner every night, where service is less than ideal, prices above average and the views not as spectacular, we brought everything we needed to cook for ourselves for three nights. It was spectacular! We mitigated the lack of warm water by bringing solar camping bags that warm up the water along with lots of citronella candles.
We are sure we will be returning at least twice per year. What a gem this place is! BTW, we even did some fishing!

2 nights at My Little Shack by the Sea
This property was everything we expected it to be and more! Here is who, in my humble opinion, would likely love this place: anyone looking for a tropical breeze, quiet evenings and spectacular sunsets! Our only regret is not bringing food supplies so that we could fix our own dinners instead of having to go out each evening. The loud noises “La Parguera” generates, something we are all too familiar with in Puerto Rico, is conveniently blocked by “Punta Papayo”. You will, however, not be immune to the noise or “voseteo” generated by boaters passing by during the day or the flotilla of boats parked at “Cayo Caracoles” a mile away in the water. However, they will go home as soon as the sun sets and you will be treated to the small waves crashing upon the shore the entire night. It will be so quite at night that you will in fact hear fish splashing on the water. Some of the reviews I read beforehand complained about bugs, somehow forgetting they are on a tropical island. If unsure about the bugs, first re-read the description of the place then play it safe and get a mosquito net on Amazon ($9).
We in fact CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN and next time we will be staying longer!

We had a nice time at Refugio Caney and loved that it was so close to climbing and that the tent and mattress were provided. A couple of things to note: if you're 6ft tall, you can only fully lay out in the tent if you do so diagonally. You can hear the freeway from the tent, but it didn't bother us. Also, the climbing day pass is paid for separately. Refugio Caney is cool and we loved climbing the ladder to get to the tent and seeing all the trees in the morning when we woke up. The owners are super nice and we enjoyed chatting with them!

The Site is huge! It is beside the lake in which you can fish from the comfort of your tent if you wish. The facilities were clean and with enough space to play baseball no worries. Super kind service from the owner and manager. It became my favorite site for camping.

2 nights at My Little Shack by the Sea
This place is amazing. Honestly, it's one of the best places we've ever stayed. It is right over the ocean, has everything you need to cook, and is just so incredibly relaxing. Sitting in the breeze and looking out over the water is heaven. We also rented the house kayak and went over to a nearby cay and snorkeled. It's also possible to kayak around the corner to the La Parguera bio bay. So cool! We would stay here again without hesitation and recommend it wholeheartedly.
