Located in one of the last truly campesino mountain valleys, this once small family coffee farm ( Finca Monte Esplendor ) has been lovingly transformed into an eco-farm of terraces, poly cultural fruit/cacao forest and retreat center. Sana and Papo arrived some 40 years ago inspired by the terrain, PR culture and local campesino community. They are professional musicians, impassioned land stewards, experienced Buddhist and yoga teachers. Enjoy the kilometer of river cascades and pools surrounded by 500+ acres of the Barreal Watershed officially designated as an ecologically sensitive /nondevelopment zone bordering the Guilarte Forest Reserve. Walk the extensive well maintained trail system and enjoy the totally private swimming hole on the Finca. Warm days (75-80 degrees daytime/62-70 degrees nighttime) And no mosquitos! There is no environ on the island quite like this- the perfect place to retreat from the hustle-bustle of modern life and commune with the serenity and beauty of the forest. The sights and sounds will astound! 25 minutes from Peñuelas Plaza and 45 minutes to the beaches of the Guanica Forest ReserveEl Bohio is a rustic hut reminiscent of past Jibaro abodes located in view of Rio Lucia ( one of the few still clean streams on the island ) with private swimming hole and water falls. Nestled within the Poly-cultural Cacao forest of the Finca Monte Esplendor, it provides all necessary amenities -- cook stove, cookware and utensils, spring water, shower (spring fed), queen bed (no linens), mini fridge. There is a nearby state-of-the-art composting toilet. Totally solar powered. Cell service is excellent. Firewood available for purchase. Special activities available (please confirm availability) There is a wood fired sauna available for $25/person / $50 minimum. Also, yoga/meditation classes at the Finca Peace Pavilion $10/person.

Amazing location!
El Bohio
We spent 3 nights here and it was so good. Literally sleeping in the rainforest. The space is well equipped and we did plenty of cooking while there. Surrounded by banana trees and waking up to the sounds of birds and the river were our favorite parts. We took 2 of Papos yoga/meditation classes and they were a great way to start the day. After we explored the expansive property trails and swimming holes. We are already looking at our calendar to come back! A couple tips, make sure to stock up with supplies in town to limit the trips up and down the mountain. Also we found headlamps to be helpful in the evening.
