Our house is located in Wood River Village. It is the beginning of where the Deschutes River bends as it comes into the town of Bend. One can quickly and easily walk to the river trail from our house. By going up river, one gets the sense of being remote and in the forest along a well maintained trail that makes a 3 miles loop with many rapids visible from the trail. By walking down river, one can quickly access Hayden Homes Amphitheater, Old Mill shopping and Downtown on a paved walking path. My dog, Panzer, and I had a great stay here! We had originally booked site 4, but due to a no-show Cheryl said we could set-up in site 5, which gave us a ton of room to spread out that I didn't expect. It can be dusty, but I'm used to that in Central Oregon - having the gravel road cuts down on the dust quite a bit too (personally, I packed up my tent in the gravel). I was surprised by the complete lack of bugs, which was a great highlight. And I loved how close the restroom was - even being in the furthest camping spot, it's maybe a 2-minute walk. Once we got the lay of the land, the best part was being able to let Panzer run off-leash - he had a grand ol' time traversing the terrain. It was nice that Cheryl kept checking in on us as well - very personable and a great conversationalist.

Most comfortable bed from an online reservation ever! Very clean and cozy teepee with nice details like lamps with usb plug ins and nightlight setting, heavy blankets and a couple chairs. Portapotty down the hill was clean. Nice landscaping and a cute pond. There were lots of deer to greet us. Note—the gravel path up is indeed steep, we made it in good weather in a Prius, 4 wheel drive in anything less than dry conditions would be great. We’d definitely stay here again.

Cheryl is a very friendly host and so easy to work with! We happened to be the only campers there when we stayed (I think a recent fire scared people away), and it was fantastic to have a real bathroom all to ourselves! In fact, since we were the only campers, Cheryl suggested we switch to site 5 which is bigger and has more shade. We really appreciated that! Our biggest complaint is no fault of Cheryl's; the land is just really dusty, and all of us and all of our stuff was very dirty. Otherwise, we had a great stay. Thank you, Cheryl!

She called us to warn us and since we were originally going to tent camp, she offered us the gathering room to sleep in to stay out of the smoke. Her property is absolutely stunning. Wish we had more time on her property and with her and her sweet dog.

We had a last minute trip to Bend come up. Hotels were booked and I thought, why not roll the RV and try HipCamp. We ended up in a centrally located spot in a quiet part of town that is walking distance to Old Mill and the Amphitheater. The spot was lovely with power so we could run the AC. It was very hot that weekend. This will be a go to spot in the future. Thanks Joel!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Cheryl's Hipcamp. Cheryl greeted us shortly after our arrival. The sites were as described, with a close walk to the facilities. It was a lovely spot to rest our heads after a day on the trail at Smith Rock and watching our son play disc golf in Sisters. Such a convenient location, close to Sisters, Redmond, Bend, and Smith Rock, makes this location attractive for those that love to play on the east side of the Cascades in Central Oregon. 8 campsites and 2 original Mongolian Gers. The season for the camp sites is from June 1st to end of Sept and the Gers for 2025/2026 winter are blocked out from Nov 15/25 to May 15/26. Pets allowed, toilets on site, campfires permitted when burn ban is not in place. Now up until this year I have provided Free Firewood. I have quit doing that for a variety of reasons, the least being the cost and the work for me. I am encouraging everyone to purchase a Propane Fire Pit if you don't have one by now. I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. I don't like them running thru other campers sites, so just be respectful. Take them for walks along the lake.. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no pain in the butts. Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice? No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM. If you need to listen to the chaos/stressful music I suggest you start a band or become a DJ. What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”. Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen. I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven. Then there is the silence. The best part of “Heaven”.

Hi and welcome to Picknik Place LLC! This is a 20 acre farm, so there is plenty of land to roam free and explore, as well as having your privacy from the primary residents. Our unique location is close to Bend city limits and right next to Horse Ridge Mountain Biking Trails. BLM land surrounds the area, and is even accessible from the upper part of our property. Our house is located in Wood River Village. It is the beginning of where the Deschutes River bends as it comes into the town of Bend. One can quickly and easily walk to the river trail from our house. By going up river, one gets the sense of being remote and in the forest along a well maintained trail that makes a 3 miles loop with many rapids visible from the trail. By walking down river, one can quickly access Hayden Homes Amphitheater, Old Mill shopping and Downtown on a paved walking path. We have cows, chickens, geese and ducks that live on the ranch and you will most likely see them roaming around the fields. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials. Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well. These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times. Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired. My deepest thanks to all who have stood alongside through this journey and continue to do so.
