Nestled just a quarter mile from the entrance of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, our glamping village sits on a scenic hill behind our cafe, offering stunning views of Mt. Scott and direct access to nearby hiking trails.

We have just installed two standing outdoor grills for your cooking needs. Both on the gravel parking lot level, one by the covered patio, the other by the picnic area. Bring your own charcoal, or add it on to your order and we will have it ready for you. Please remember to leave no trace, use trash recepticles and do not leave any food out for the wildlife.
Bringing a pet? They are very welcome here, however, we now require a $30 pet fee due to additional cleaning and potential damages. Please add this on to your booking.
By June 1, 2025, we'll be adding two spacious yurts, each accommodating 6-8 sleeping bags or cots - perfect for families, kids, or groups looking for a unique outdoor stay.
For those seeking a more rustic experience, we also offer nine primitive walk-up campsites.

We have 161.64 acres which has 4 gravel access points at different parts of the property. The property has several oil sites and it does have cattle, however, it has largely been untouched since the 1970s, meaning we have old growth and new growth for trees and natural habitat for wildlife. This property has been in the family for almost 5 generations and we are working to rebuild after nearly 50 years of no activity.
From my covered front porch I can hear owls, coyotes, hawks and other birds while watching deer munching in the open meadow.
The property has three low water level ponds, meaning no fish - but the opportunity to hike, bike, horseback ride or UTV into and out of the creek(s). Up and down rolling hills. Watch a thunderstorm roll over the horizon while watching lightning from miles away. Enjoy stargazing and naming that constellation.
The ponds do not have fish, but we are going to be stocking them within the next year.
There are plenty of open spaces or covered (by trees) spaces to camp.
We are working to restore the property including rebuilding several structures that were destroyed in the May 3rd, 1999 tornado. So, there is always a project or two in progress around the early 1900s homestead.
We do not have any prepared sites so, you can set up camp near the house for easy access to potable water or out in the pasture. The choice is yours! Once you arrive we will work with you to help you decide.

Now that I have, I have a better sense of how to get around the neighborhood. So don’t let previous reviews scare you. This is some beautiful property surronded by the Ozark National Forrest. I came in after dark, found the directions were perfectly suitable, and was met outside by Mark to ahow where the spot was. The quick VW tour and chat was great too, wish I cpuld ha e spent more time talkin cars with him, but I was knackered after a 12hr roadtrip. Fell asleep to coyotes yip'n & yaw'n easily within 100yds. Great spot!

An authentic opportunity for a stand out adventure can be discovered in Southestern Oklahoma at The Healthy Hippie Cafe within the charming town of Medicine Park! Well said that it is a full sensory experience set in the parameters of the wildlife refuge where both primitive and canvas tent dwellers can enjoy the beauty of the surrounding hills and view of Mt. Scott upon sunrise. A lovely trail ascends to a panoramic perspective of the historical towns settings. We heard coyotes calling out after sundown, the lovely fall breezes passing through the tent windows, the brilliance of the stars, and even a hooting owl passing by!
We traveled here to celebrate our youngest son's 6th birthday. He enjoyed every minute of it! The hosts, Darrell and Kelli are super personable and make themselves readily available. This little piece of property is set off the main road adjacent to The Healthy Hippie Cafe. However, with the exception to the minimal passing vehicles in the earlier evening and some talented musicians that could be heard in the distance, all was brought solely to the sounds of nature alone soon after. We slept in the Shiloh tent. It was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Bathrooms are available and an outdoor shower if that suits you.
We started our morning with a short hike on the property and breakfast in the Cafe. Super! The bar provides many fantastic options. GREAT coffee! REAL food! Ambiance is legit. This place is crushworthy. Thank you, Darrell & Kelli!

They met us when we arrived, gave us a great tour of the VW Krankenhaus (which as former owners of several different VWs, we enjoyed!), showed us where to find the facilities, and left us to set up camp. They were friendly and their place was as described.

I found the location very easily and the owner even warned me of a dip in the road so I came in from a different direction (which they outlined to me) because I have a relatively low to the ground clearance trailer that I tow. Mark and Angela were very helpful reaching out to me before and during my trip. They are both VW enthusiasts and Angela gave me a tour of their VW collection in and around their pole barn garage. They were both very hospitable and I enjoyed my stay there.
They made their cabana bathroom available for my stay which was super nice. Would highly recommend if you're in the Oklahoma City area as a place to stay.

Mark and Angela were excellent hosts. They accommodated me so well that I felt all the things that a camper should feel, safe able to rest. I was too tired to take the VW tour, but believe me Mark has the bug, sorry for the play on words.
There were very kind with leading me in by the phone, and leading me out, and this was a 10 out of 10 stay.

1 night at Hippie Hill
Excellent glamping accommodations up there at Hippie Hill. You can watch the sun set over Mt. Scott right from your front steps, or from the viewing platform. Need a bite to eat or an espresso to get you moving? There's an affiliated restaurant with a scratch kitchen and amazing coffee.
Darrell was an incredibly attentive host, and clearly takes his role of host to heart. This attitude permeates all the staff of the adjacent Healthy Hippie Cafe. Everyone seemed like old friends newly met. I can't say enough positive things about the folks there.
The tent was great. Modern. Well appointed. It was a great experience all around. Darrell even went so far as to provide a battery operated ice air conditioner, a bluetooth speaker/flashlight, and a rechargeable fan.
If you're lucky, you can hear the elk calling in the hills in the mornings, or the coyotes yipping in the evening.
The entrance to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is just up the road. This might be the closest accommodations to the entrance, and all that this amazing place has to offer (Don't hold me to that though, maybe there's some place closer that I didn't see.). An easy hiking trail connects the facility to the Medicine Park Aquarium.
10/10 would stay (and eat, and explore, and relax, and hang out) again.

Weekend Trip to Hippie Hill
My daughter and I loved camping at Hippie Hill, it was such a peaceful and beautiful little spot. We stayed in the Shiloh tent - the bed was very comfy and it was so cool being able to see Mt Scott right from the camp site. And the cafe had delicious meals! I had the tacos and my daughter had some sweet potato fries, it was all amazing. :) The hosts were so welcoming and gave us helpful tips on where to paddleboard and play in the water to cool off. I would definitely go back again!

Everything went well except for the weather, which they had no control of. Enjoyed our stay, we were there for 4 days visiting family in the area. The Baumgartens are wonderful host, checking on us every night to be sure we okay.
We were in our self contained motorhome, so we weathered the storms just fine.
There camp site was was beautiful and well maintained. We really enjoyed the solitude and peaceful site.
We will definitely stay there again. We have recommend them out family and friends.

We were traveling back to Georgia from a trip out West with friends in our VW Vanagons and landed at Mark & Angela's. It was perfect. Safe place to stay overnight. Bathroom facilities were nice. They were gracious hosts and gave us a tour. We'd stay here again for sure!
