This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn, which has been converted to a rec area. Make our home and green space yours for a few days. Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to six guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed! The Camp Cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay. Pet and feed goats and other farm animals. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and in the barn.

While this is a working ranch with farm animals, our aim is to create a peaceful relaxing environment in order to unwind and enjoy the creation around us. Going in the pastures with horses while unaccompanied by the owners is prohibited; however, it can be arranged for you to meet and interact with the mustangs if interested. There are other farm animals including a sheep, a goat, pigs, donkeys, peacocks, turkeys, chickens, ducks and barn cats on the premises. With ample shade, a fire pit, and nearby portapotty, you can relax under the stars into the night. Hiking trails weave through the back of the property and you are welcome to explore those as well. Because we are a working homestead and farm, a few things are true: -Sometimes there’s mud. We suggest boots for walking around the property and in the woods. -Our farm animals are great - and may also bite. Please do not pet or chase them. We are happy to arrange opportunities to interact with the animals. Just ask! -Not always, but at times, our neighbors will start farming early in the morning and you can hear their machinery. All of our sites have privacy but are not truly remote. We want you to enjoy yourselves but please be mindful that our house is on the property as well as our neighbors. Music needs to be turned down to a low level by 11 PM. We can accommodate pop-up campers, camper vans, etc near Mother Oak as well. Please message with any questions before reserving. Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976. They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated. We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976. They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated. We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

The cabin was so cozy,we did have our air mattress with us just incase I was unable to sleep on the futon but was surprisingly comfortable. We had a great time at Shady Maple cabin! It was a beautiful place to unwind, de-stress, and be in an amazing setting! The cabin had everything you would need for a relaxing time. We love a good log cabin and this did not disappoint! It was clean, had snacks, jacuzzi tub inside, a hot tub outside, board games, was private enough and everything worked as it should. I don't know where to begin. This has been an incredible experience from the moment I got here. Dale and Renee are 2 of the nicest people you could ever meet. Renee goes above and beyond to make you feel like family. I fell in love with Buddy, the donkey. All of the animals from the handsome Fred the turkey to Pumpkin the cat are soo soo sweet. The horses are beautiful. I sat on the porch of the cabin and watched them across the pond. I even got a visit from 2 horses asking for treats. It was amazing!!! I can NOT recommend this place enough. It is peaceful, quaint, and feels like home away from home. I will definitely be back! Thank you for everything!!!!

My husband and I were looking for a quiet couples getaway. We found the property and site to be beautiful. The cabin was cozy. The hosts were awesome! They thought of everything!! What stood out as unique is the access to the barn where we found an endless amount of activities. We fed the goats, hiked a beautiful trail and watched a spectacular sunset. We even made time to practice our canoeing skills on the small pond that was adjacent to our cabin. The bathroom in the back basement of the host house was clean and well stocked only about 75 feet away from our cabin. They kept this area well lit just in case you had to go in the middle of the night. What a fun experience for families with small children!!

I got to spend my holiday weekend at the cabin on Renee's beautiful land and ending up wishing I had booked a longer stay ...it was just the space I needed. Solo female traveler approved and amazing value for a cabin that includes so much to make your stay a comfortable one. Parking so close I had no trouble lugging my gear in. Cell phone reception was excellent (I have T-Mobile and never had an issue, though wifi is available if preferred). Super easy to find ...I Google Mapped it from the address provided and found it with absolutely no issues. It truly is a peaceful, healing space managed by the most kind, generous hosts. I spent so much time just sitting on the porch looking across the pond (which currently has a small fountain running beautiful water sounds 24/7) and taking in the view of these beautiful horses grazing back and forth, some even coming right up to the railing for treats stored just for them on the porch. It's surprisingly quiet considering it's a working farm. The hosts leave you at peace when you need your space, and there's not a lot of traffic on the small country road that runs past the place. I'm so glad I found this place and can't wait to come back and spend more time here.

This was exactly the getaway my husband and I were looking for. Being surrounded by beautiful mustangs and the quiet of the ranch was just what we needed! Renee and Dale were so inviting and very helpful. Both my husband and I learned a ton about Mustangs both at the Ranch and in the wild. We loved Ranger greeting us every morning and multiple times a day. I especially loved the time I was able to spend with Bella the partially blind paint. She was absolutely the sweetest. Donna’s land is absolutely magical. If you are quiet enough and paying attention, there is so much nature thriving around you. This trip came at a time when I did not know I would need it most and it was perfect and healing. The cabin is so clean and charming. This was my partner’s daughter’s first camping trip so I wanted it to be close to home and still have some comforts. It was perfect! The only downside to our experience was the day we checked in, it had been 92 degrees all day, so the cabin was pretty miserable to sleep in the first night. Also, since this is in the backyard of the homeowner, it might not be your cup of tea if you want a more off the grid feel but again, for us it was perfect! Donna was so sweet, gave us our privacy, and graciously shared her land and all of its offerings to us. I will definitely be wanting to come back on maybe a girls trip in the fall or even winter when other camping is more challenging!
