Tent Camping Our tent camping spots are located under Mother Oak, a 100-year-old oak tree in the middle of our farm. With ample shade, a fire pit, and nearby portapotty, you can relax under the stars into the night. Hiking trails weave through the back of the property and you are welcome to explore those as well. Because we are a working homestead and farm, a few things are true: -Sometimes there’s mud. We suggest boots for walking around the property and in the woods. -Our farm animals are great - and may also bite. Please do not pet or chase them. We are happy to arrange opportunities to interact with the animals. Just ask! -Not always, but at times, our neighbors will start farming early in the morning and you can hear their machinery. All of our sites have privacy but are not truly remote. We want you to enjoy yourselves but please be mindful that our house is on the property as well as our neighbors. Music needs to be turned down to a low level by 11 PM. We can accommodate pop-up campers, camper vans, etc near Mother Oak as well. Please message with any questions before reserving. The homestead is located near 58 so you can hear cars during the day and night. The cabins are about a ½ mile from the road so the noise is greatly reduced. We have lived here since 2004, the blueberries have lived here for over 60 years. This site has more topography than most of the surrounding county. Learn more about this land: Several sites available on an organic blueberry farm near Oberlin College and Lake Erie. Blueberries are ripe in July. Site #2 is down by the Chance Creek, about 1/2 mile from the driveway. Very peaceful down there - a walk-in site.  Site #1  is about 100 yards from the driveway, Site #1 also has access to a small shed.  Both sites are woodsy and away from neighbors, roads and houses, however the interstate is not far. When the wind blows from the north you can barely hear it, but when a south wind blows and/or there is rain on the interstate, it can be pretty loud. We don't have a latrine. We have two "luggable-loo's" if you need them, have liners, too.

I absolutely loved the area. Bo was very nice. The scenery and the camp sites were really cool. My only thing (which was kinda on me) was I was unable to get a fire started because I came in the wet season. But spring and summer would be a whole different experience! Would definitely come back!

We had a wonderful stay here! The facilities were nice and the grounds beautiful - I definitely recommend a walk around the fishing pond. The autumnal foliage was gorgeous mid-October. Staff was responsive and even brought us extra firewood on a chilly evening when the camp store was out.

Nice area right by the water. I booked very last minute and Bryan was great about it. Beautiful area. Very close to the small downtown area. I will definitely be back next summer!!

We tent camped for four nights at Site 3 which was perfect for our needs. The river was bone dry but fishing in the pond was good! We also enjoyed exploring the trails Jay has cut out. Thanks for a nice stay : )

Trains , but they dont bother me . There does seem to be more trains during the week than on our weekend stay . I was raised in the inner city so again they dont bother me. Great views , good people run it and I love the sound of the water. Nomadic Camping with Endless Weekends

Weekend Trip to Rusty's Retreat with pond and river

Jay is a very good host and was very flexible with us. The drive into the sites is interesting since you have to drive through his grass. If it is rainy I would recommend 4/all wheel drive. The area was great! Sites were secluded in a tree dense area and around 25 minuets away is the large town of Findlay. Plenty of hikes and parks around as well! Ultimately it was a great stay, and I would definitely come back!

I really enjoyed the privacy of the spot and the fact that a portapotty was onsite was an added bonus. Andrew is a really cool host. He was very responsive to my messages, as I booked last minute. Gave me my choice of spots on the farm. Spent a couple nights enjoying the big night sky by the pond. Another hipcamp winner!

Really pretty, well taken care of place. Level site worth a wood deck. Host was helpful and friendly. Lots of permanent residents had really fun Halloween decorations. We thought we were getting away from the Interstate to a quieter spot but didn't realize that it was right of of a busy highway and there was a lot of truck noise. I used earplugs and it didn't bother me.

Great night at Site #2, just a walk down into the forest and across the hill. Be ready to carry your gear from where you parked. Got to see some wildlife and sleep down by the stream. Would recommend, and check out the trails in the area.
