The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! 1 night at Backwoods Hideaway

Our second stay! Once during Fall and this time Winter. We hope to visit again in all the seasons because each season has something unique to offer in these beautiful hills. Even in 30 degree weather of December, we arrived to a toasty warm cabin all lit up for us. Once we got settled for bed, we turned off the generator and stayed warm all night. (We did add our sleeping bag on top of the mattress just in case.) There's always firewood to enjoy an outdoor fire, coffee, and games/coloring for kids, lots of woods and creek to explore, and it's so peaceful and private! Cabin and outhouse are super clean! I highly recommend even in the Winter. Tip: if you stay when it's freezing, the shower may not be on- just ask, and I would bring the outdoor hand washing water inside the cabin at night so it's not freezing cold the next morning. We take a portable power bank with us to charge phones so that we don't have to turn on the generator for that. We don't have phone service there, but you don't need it. Unplug! There's wifi you may be able to connect to closer to his driveway or he's the type of host you could knock if you're having a real emergency. There's a restaurant gas station very close by with food and Wifi. The hosts are incredibly kind, fun, friendly people, generous also because with their price, really don't make money on this to justify the work involved. They just like sharing their slice of heaven as a gift! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do and take good care of it!

The whole Viking Longhall property is like stepping into a cute, quirky woodsy fantasy. The unique building design and landscape layout are all charming. The Creekside Cottage was simple, cozy, and well provisioned. David is an excellent host, available and very considerate. I would stay again.

I have wanted to stay at the Longhall since my visit to the Yurt several years ago and finally got my wish! My friends and I stayed at the Longhall for my 30th birthday and it was one of the most memorable birthdays I have ever had. Not only is the space remarkable, David was such a kind and generous host and made sure we had everything we needed. I hope to be back again soon— it is one of my favorite places to go for a getaway from the day to day. If you need a place to find some peace and quiet and enjoy the beauty of nature, please consider this hidden gem.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our Tribe, Tyr’s Pride Raven Banner, recently held our Winter Nights gathering at the Longhouse in Peebles, Ohio, and it was absolutely incredible. The Longhouse itself is beautiful—you can feel the craftsmanship, care, and spirit that went into creating such a special place. The setting is peaceful and inspiring, surrounded by nature and perfect for both reflection and community. David, the owner, was an outstanding host. His hospitality was unmatched—welcoming, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure our stay was memorable. He went above and beyond for us in every way. We stayed for four days and every moment was meaningful. We shared good food, laughter, stories, and ceremony in a space that felt like it was made for such gatherings. If you’re looking for a place with heart, history, and true hospitality, the Longhouse is it. The cabin is a little small, but it comfortably housed my wife and I. Everything was very clean with all of the amenities that we needed for the weekend. A very nice spot for a weekend retreat for two people. There's also a huge stack of western and war DVDs if you want to check those out!

Full nature experience, beautiful area, hospitable host, close to great hiking trails and Serpent Mound. The Longhall is very cool with lots of awesome bunks for large groups.

The property was secluded and delightful! We loved our time in the cabin and exploring the woods. Bed was comfy and the kids loved loft. Definitely worth the stop on out road trip to Washington DC.

I loved staying here as the cabin was well stocked with cleaning, eating/cooking, first aid, fire starting, coffee/tea, and more types of materials. The complimentary tank of gas for the generator was very helpful for lighting and cooling/heating the cabin. There is a nice front porch with 2 rocking chairs, a table, there’s 2 fire pits, a grill, a patio table with more chairs, complimentary kindling and chopped logs, plenty of trees to hang a hammock from, a bath house, an outdoor shower, and a personal creek. The whole experience was well worth it and enjoyable. Aaron was a very welcoming host as well.

We really loved the porch and deck:) perfect to sit outside, watch the sunrise and listen to the nature. What an amazing 4 day trip. We wished we could have stayed even longer! Only complaint was the grill was a little ify with no drip barrier between the flames and the propane tank from a safety stand point.. perfect get away!

As a person who lives in the city you often times forget what a get away in the woods will do to you and your mental health. I am so happy I booked with Aaron not only was he an amazing host that provided so many amenities, his little cabin in the woods definitely gave us the recharge we needed. It was so quiet and surrounded by the trees we absolutely adored it!

We had a fantastic visit to Williams cabin and land! My dog had plenty of woods to explore and my fiancé and I had the peace and serenity we were looking for. I will absolutely recommend this stay to anyone looking for a getaway from the city or just to get out in Mother Nature ! Thank you SO MUCH William, for giving us such an unforgettable memory!

Weekend Trip to Cozy mountain log cabin

The cabin was new and had most of what we needed. It was really pretty and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I took a bath in the big soak tub and that was probably the highlight of my long weekend. It was amazing. If I were giving stars, I would give 4.5/5. I can't give it a full 5 stars because it wasn't as advertised in a few ways. I believe that some pictures got mixed together for all of the cabins. I was expecting a hot tub and a picnic table on the deck. It was still beautiful and the stars were amazing in such a dark area. William was very kind and I felt comfortable being around him. He brought me wood in a frontloadet and only charged $10 for more than enough for the weekend. to He seems to be building 4 or 5 different things at once. It was a little dusty because of the gravel road, but I was expecting that. I had wished there was more access to walking trails. There may have been some, but they were not immediately obvious. So I guess my recommendation to the host would be to adding more information about the property. There was also no wifi. I personally didn't need it. My kid was with us. They suggested starlink would probably work there, so I suggest either not saying there is wifi or getting wifi that will actually work. Great trip, mostly.

Host was so kind, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed in the evening and again in the morning. Met us when we got there to make sure we knew where everything was. The site was so beautiful and peaceful and so many cute little cats. The cabin had everything that we needed. Was a perfect trip!
