The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. There is plenty of wildlife but NO hunting is allowed. Some of our designated tent sites do have firepits and/or picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. We had an incredible time at the yurt! David was an amazing host: he greeted us and shared all kinds of local information and tips on hikes and activities and brought us coffee in the mornings. He has built a magical place and put so much passion, care and attention into everything there. The nature and activities on the property can fill days. We loved the yurt Viking decor, propane fire in the middle and the incredible layers of soft bedding! We will be coming back for sure.

The whole Viking Longhall property is like stepping into a cute, quirky woodsy fantasy. The unique building design and landscape layout are all charming. The Creekside Cottage was simple, cozy, and well provisioned. David is an excellent host, available and very considerate. I would stay again.

He brought a pot of coffee each morning and a new propane tank to help heat the yurt, told us about the history of the area and places to check out nearby, and was fun and engaging to talk with. I have wanted to stay at the Longhall since my visit to the Yurt several years ago and finally got my wish! My friends and I stayed at the Longhall for my 30th birthday and it was one of the most memorable birthdays I have ever had. Not only is the space remarkable, David was such a kind and generous host and made sure we had everything we needed. I hope to be back again soon— it is one of my favorite places to go for a getaway from the day to day. If you need a place to find some peace and quiet and enjoy the beauty of nature, please consider this hidden gem.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our Tribe, Tyr’s Pride Raven Banner, recently held our Winter Nights gathering at the Longhouse in Peebles, Ohio, and it was absolutely incredible. The Longhouse itself is beautiful—you can feel the craftsmanship, care, and spirit that went into creating such a special place. The setting is peaceful and inspiring, surrounded by nature and perfect for both reflection and community. David, the owner, was an outstanding host. His hospitality was unmatched—welcoming, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure our stay was memorable. He went above and beyond for us in every way. We stayed for four days and every moment was meaningful. We shared good food, laughter, stories, and ceremony in a space that felt like it was made for such gatherings. I love the bowman cabin it was extremely cozy and felt like home. The property is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Definitely recommend going to the water falls total worth the hike. I would love to come back again soon!

Host was so kind, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed in the evening and again in the morning. Met us when we got there to make sure we knew where everything was. The site was so beautiful and peaceful and so many cute little cats. The cabin had everything that we needed. Was a perfect trip!

Weekend Trip to Possum Ridge Ranch

As a solo female camper I felt 100% safe here. The hosts are way cool! Gorgeous property, very spacious, accommodates a variety of tastes from quiet solo to fun groups. The "fun barn" has games, a kitchen, music and even a claw machine (don't try for the stuffed turtle). Great trails and the friendliest ducks ever. I'm going back! Oh yeah - as mentioned in the listing it's best to get there before sundown, the roads are ridge/hollow twisty without lights. Signage at the ranch is great. Truly a special place.

We had such a a great time. The camping area was amazing. Plenty of space for tents and all the cottages and cabins where each different themes and a few to choose from. Most camp sites are a few steps from the creek which is a bonus. David was such a great host, he was cutting firewood for us when we arrived. He made sure there was no want for anything. they best part for us was the beautiful night sky. We spent so much time just staring at all the stars and enjoying the night that our necks hurt. We are looking forward to going back and bringing our friends with us.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a magical place to reconnect with nature but still sleep in a bed. The creekside cabin was very clean and cozy! David and Ivea were incredibly kind and accommodating. The place is clean, artistically beautiful, and honestly just felt magical.

Fantastic asthetics. Beautifully done and maintained. Hosts were very hospitable and knowledgable of the area. The yurt was very comfy and inviting. First time in a yurt and it was a blast. Hosts went above and beyond by providing a battery unit for my CPAP machine.
