Weekend Trip to Take a Hike on a Wild side! Camping

The stay was amazing! The cabin was the perfect size for us and the dogs! The weather was absolutely beautiful which allows us to go hiking at some nearby trails. The cabin was equipped with anything we could have needed and more. We loved the hot tub and fire pit and were able to see the stars from each spot. Definitely will be booking a stay in the Fall. Kevin the host was super nice and accommodating, got to chat with him on our last day before we left. Looking forward to our next stay!!

Weekend Trip to Parker Farms

My husband and I just stayed here. This spot was great! Very well thought out. From providing coffee, basic toiletries, even a collagen face mask! We had all the basics we needed to cook food. Breakfast was on their electric griddle, dinner was cooked over the fire on their campfire grill. They also have a counter top toaster oven with lots of features but we didn't use it. Lots of plants to identify, forage. Cleared path to walk to the top of the mountain. The hot tub was awesome, the deck was where we hungout the most, and the firepit was great (comfy chairs too!) The privacy, ease of check in and check out and all the great touches made this a great spot for us. Cell reception is good. Internet good. We will be back!

10/10 would recommend this place everyone was so nice it’s so peaceful can’t wait to go back!!

Great environment! I really enjoyed the homey feel to the camp ground. We got away for a weekend and it was an awesome Experience. If you love dogs, her dogs stayed with us for most the night! They are so sweet and not aggressive! Lots of things to do! I would highly recommend!

Slice of heaven! Quiet and beautiful views. Owners were caring and friendly. The sites were so well thought out. I appreciated all the detail that went into making this property a unique and beautiful place to stay. Just look around and you can see how much time and money was spent. The site itself is level, trash can available, firewood available, clean beautiful rock to park on, beautiful wood chairs on red stone, open property for the dog to run, enchanting pine tree forest and full hookup. Be prepared for a decent amount of wind because you are on a mountain.

Weekend Trip to Babbling Brook Campground

We had a lovely experience at the Babbling Brook Treehouse! We went with our two children, who loved playing hide-and-seek and walking across the slackline. We even met the animals and got a chance to milk a goat! Elizabeth is a GEM—such a kind and welcoming host. I expect that we will return again, and I would recommend it!

My husband and I use Hip Camp for a majority of our stays. We especially liked this site for our RV because of easy access, flat gravel and close to the beautiful Creeper Trail.. although we did not get a chance to use it as it was unseasonably cold :( We were greeted by the host ..a large white Great Pyrenee, a family of kitties and brood of chickens ..all very friendly. You may hear coyotes at night pass through the property. We weren't sure how we were going to back out the next morning as the gravel turns to dirt and up a small incline, but thankfully the next day a gentleman came out and told us we could just pull thru on the grass. This was very helpful and appreciated. When we can return to bike the trail, we will would stay here again

Definitely enjoyed our stay. Nice large shaded spot. The dogs enjoyed all the trails on the property. The host are wonderful will definitely stop back when in the area.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay until the weather tried to evict me on my last day! 😅 Be careful on the driveway if it's wet and make sure you screenshot your directions about 20 minutes before arriving because you will most likely lose service but thankfully there's service at the site itself. I will definitely be back to this gorgeous site and Edward was super responsive and helpful!

Weekend Trip to Loafers Joy Meadow

The cabin was perfect: all you could imagine needing for a solo retreat in a blissfully quiet and serene location. Hot tub (pre-warmed!), fire pit (stocked and ready to be made and lit!), cosy weatherproof cabin (it RAINED and was windy for a bit overnight).

Site 1 and 2 are very close, if both were booked you may have a privacy issue. However the view is great and the sites are reasonably priced, it would be very easy to book both and bring the whole family. The walk to the sites is uphill so be ready to get some exercise.

Blue Ridge Horse Adventures

HELENE UPDATE: ACCESS IS LIMITED TO 4WD TRUCKS ONLY AND ADULTS ONLY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Get away from the crowds. On 300 beautiful acres once operated as a children's summer adventure camp, this property has a house with a dormitory style bathroom for camper use. There are 3 primitive campsites, 2 cottages, and a horse sanctuary. The campsites are spaced out around the property for privacy. A short walk gets you to the bathroom reserved for campers only which has 2 toilets, 2 showers, and 2 sinks. 4WD or AWD is recommended for all sites due to 1/2 mile gravel road and then completely off road for a short distance. Or, if you are bringing 2WD, there is plenty of parking and then walk to your campsite. We don't recommend trying to bring large RV's due to the access. Winter camping is encouraged with free firewood. However, you will probably need to park near the bathroom and walk to your campsite to limit soil erosion of the off-road trail. Pets are welcome only at some sites, but please please let us know you are bringing them and they will need to be leashed due to other animals. A large part of the property is forest with hiking trails, creeks, and wildlife. You can see wildflowers and lightning bugs in season along with deer, turkey, and horses. And all of our spots have a great view of the sky! We're not far from the Bare Dark Sky Observatory. The grass horse arena and the pond were originally built for the summer camp. The pond is stocked with bass and bluegill and has a chorus of bullfrogs in summer. The arena is flat and has a long range mountain view all the way to Mt. Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi). There are also a meadow spot encircled by trees.

BelleBrook Acres is a 17 acre working farm in the heart of Bristol, TN. Prior to us purchasing this farm it was one of the first dairy farms in Tennessee dating back to 1901 and was an active dairy farm up until about a decade ago. We're located 8 miles from the Bristol Motor Speedway; 7 miles from Osceola Island and the South Holston Dam with hiking & bicycle trails as well as some of the best fishing around; 8 miles from The Pinnacle which is packed full of restaurants and outlet shopping; and 3 1/2 miles from the downtown and State Street where you can literally walk in both Tennessee and Virginia at the same time which is lined with restaurants, escape rooms, a pool hall, comedy club, bars and more! We're centrally located within the city limits and just minutes from anything in Bristol. During your stay at our farm, you'll get to meet our resident welcoming committee comprised of Jasper the donkey, several very friendly cows, goats, chickens, and horses. IRON Peak Ranch

We have traced this farm's history back to the 1750's when a mill was built on Reed Creek. There is a log home that we know that was built in 1840 still on the premises. The white farm house across from the camp sites was built in 1877. The fish hatchery that is still in operation today was built by the Federal Government in 1923. Learn more about this land: Camp site situated along 3 separate creeks connected by one large private 11 acre field. Tate Run/ Reed Creek/ Venrick Run. The farm house is across the road and the whole property comprises of 88 acres of woods and pasature. The farm house was built in 1877 and the Ranch currently operates with 30 head of cattle and a working trout hatchery. We have traced this farm lineage back to the 1750's when a mill was constructed at the meeting of Tate Run and Reed Creek by Swiss Immigrant Henry Grubb. Camping here along Reed Creek is peaceful and quiet. Located just a few short miles from town it is easy to get to ...but a long way from the world at large. In Short, it is lovely and we hope you enjoy it.

Dark Ridge Hide Out (Adults Only)

"Adults only" doesn't mean anything other than just "no children", so as to preserve the natural peace and quiet, and assurance that there won't be loud and unruly children on the property. Inquiries and booking requests received after 9: pm may not be answered until the next morning. Dark Ridge Hide Out, is a 20 acre parcel in the Blue Ridge Mountain's on the back side of the Beech Mt Ski Resort in a secluded quiet and safe community with less than a dozen homes in a one mile radius. Away from light and sound pollution. Except for an occasional passing vehicle "and often none at all from 10pm to 6am" all you will hear is the sound of the creek which runs through the lower section by the RV sites, cricket's and frogs at the nearby fish pond and only the light from the moon and star's in the clear mountain sky and fire flies. It is my home place with a tobacco barn and a big combination cattle/tobacco barn built almost entirely just by my Mom and Dad in early 1940"s. My parents and grand parents lived off of the land here and raised cash crops like cabbage, corn and tobacco, we also raised sugar cane and made molasses, we had free range chickens, as many as 50 honey bee hives and over 50 head of cattle, two or three hog's and of course a horse. There was four main fields; two for cow pasture, one meadow to grow hay "now Christmas trees" and the main one on my part where all crops were grown is where the camp sites are. I grew up helping with the crops and other farm chores, one was to go to the pasture and bring the milk cows in and do the milking every day before and after school, feed the hogs and chickens, gather the egg's, let the chickens out in the morning and close the chicken house in the evening to protect them from critters like opossums, raccoons and wildcats. This is where I grew up, my dad grew up and, near where my mother and both of my grandparents grew up. My house was built in 1905 the same year my dad was born. The campsites are on my 20 acre section section of the original 82 acres with the house and barns, the remainder went to my brother but now is out of the family. The section of Elk River with the Compression Falls "45 ft high" and Twisting Falls which is part of Pisgah National Forest is less than two miles from here, and an old logging road going around the mountain above the river for about three miles to another Falls "Elk River Falls, 65 ft high" is a great place to hike or mountain bike. You will be free to explore and hike any part of my property except the house and out building's. The pond's are full of Trout and Blue Gill fish that are like pet's they love little pieces of bread. You can feed the fish but no fishing.

10/9/2024 NOTICE: We had some damage to our road due to Hurricane Helene that made it impassable. It has since been repaired and is opened to traffic. There are still some remaining rough areas, but the road is easily passable by passenger vehicles and RV's up to 28ft. Our site was once part of a much larger farm growing tobacco and raising cattle and other farm animals. The existing tobacco barn was built in the early 1960's. The concrete pad used for RV camping was used to store silage for the cows. The non-potable water source is a mountain spring that has been used on the farm since the 1930's. While many tobacco barns in the area have been torn down for their rusted tin roofing and rustic siding, we have worked to restore the barn and preserve its history.

Tri Mountain View Campground is located in the Northeast corner of Tennessee in the town of Shady Valley. With an elevation of 2,800 feet, Shady Valley is the second highest town in Tennessee. It is just 26 miles from the Bristol Raceway and the Bristol Caverns. It is just a 15 minute drive to Backbone rock and a short drive to the Appalachian Trail. The property was a Dairy Farm and went out of business in the late 90’s and since then there has been over 3,000 trees planted. Some of these trees include the rare Butternut and Hazelnut, but mostly White Pine, Walnut and Oaks. The property has approximately 1,000 feet of fishing on Beaver dam creek, so we recommend bringing waders. Babbling Brook Campground

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and limited exposure to the oldest registered breed of bovine in the world. Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend) If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close. Looking Forward: July update. We are currently working on provided an all downhill mountain bike trail from 3600 to 3150ft. This path will be double wide for the most part and wide open at first to soak in the se view. Access to the Appalachian Trail is only 20 minutes away in Damascus. We became caretakers of this lovely property in June of 2021, moving from our existing farm, 45 minutes away. When we got it, it was a blank slate of a hayfield, and we have spent the summer laying infrastructure so that we may grow our cut-flower, honey, and vegetable business.

Parker Farms

This property is part of a working family farm established in 1900. The farm is currently a beef cattle operation giving campers the opportunity to see a working farm. There are 2 ponds on the property available for fishing and paddling. Given the area the farm covers campers will have peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle. For NASCAR fans, the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway is within walking distance. If you can't occupy your time here we're within 10 minutes of many local attractions. Wilkes also hosts festivals like; MerleFest, Apple Festival, and Peach Festival. This area is home to many Peach and Apple Orchards one personal favorite is Tevepaugh Orchards. Blue Ridge Ranch

Blue Ridge Ranch, established in December of 2020, is located on 440 acres nestled between two mountain ridges in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The property features an established pasture, mountain ridges, barns, and a homestead. In addition, the ranch is home to five ponds (some stocked and one trophy), more than a mile of trout streams, waterfalls, and hiking trails. Together, they provide the perfect foundation for the establishment of farming, livestock, camping, and community events. All profits of Blue Ridge Ranch go to Hope for His Children, Inc., a 501(c)(3) that conducts youth camps at the ranch. Tours of the ranch are available for $10/person (to offset fuel expense) and includes interaction with some farm animals. We pride ourselves in doing everything possible to help our guests have a great experience. We offer coffee during morning hours in our farm store! We are sorry, but we are not able to allow guests to bring ATV's and motorcycles to operate on the property. There are many acres of hay that we must protect and our agritourism insurer does not allow guests to operate ATV's and motorcycles on property.

Take a Hike on a Wild side! Camping

This property is 180 acres of woods and mountains with streams and ponds. Beautiful settings. If you like hiking in the mountains this will definitely hit the spot. YO can fish in the ponds it has blue gills and catfish. I also added grass carp there as part of weed management. This used to be an abandoned farm which I want to bring back to life. The site offers three luxury large Safari Style Tents and 4 Pioneer wagons. All tents are far away from each other to provide privacy and freedom of going Wild (still remaining civilized in your manners and careful attitude to Nature around you). Tent 1 is in the Forrest itself and it is pretty cook and serene. Tent 2 is on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the forest. Tent 3 is the most remote and closest to the ponds. It has most of the open space around it, and can be a great place for parties. We are working on making the sites and the area more comfortable, but I do not want to make it a manicured park. I want it to remain wild and still offer comfortable stay. The farm is work in progress. Eventually it will be an Ostrich farm. and have other animals too. The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away. Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive. Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc. Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing. Nice swimming beach access on Lake Hickory 13 miles ( 20 Minutes) from here: Lake Hickory Wittenburg access area (Wittenburg Access Area, 175 Wildlife Access Rd, Hickory, NC 28601) Asheville is 1:25 hrs to the West, Charlotte is 1:25 hr to the East. There are couple of Ski resorts 45 minutes to an hr away.

Yadkin Mountain Farm

The 27-acre site is centrally located in beautiful Happy Valley, NC and accessed via Indian Grave Roady from the NC 268 Scenic Byway, which is frequented by motorcyclists, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts in general. You and your party will be the ONLY campers here. We offer 3 options for sites based on your camping style, but once the property is booked, we close off the additional two sites. The site features uncommon privacy along with exclusive access to a beautiful section of the Yadkin River featuring a wadable and swimmable series of mostly rock filled pools and riffles. Approximately 1 acre of shaded lawn-like grass with an established fire ring is suitable for tents, camper vans, and large RV’s. Your dogs are welcome to roam off leash! The site is accessed through an almost entirely flat hayfield via a mowed trail that is easily accessible throughout the year via a 23-foot-wide entrance, except for during extreme wet weather. Nearby tourist attractions include: The Chapel of Rest, The Patterson School, Fort Defiance, the Happy Valley Filling Station, and much more with Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway being on 15 minutes away.
