I moved here from San Francisco, to simplify my life, and accomplish my dreams. The Tiny house was designed and built by architect, Jesse Plaster. It's a unique cozy loft style design, set back in the woods on our property. It's purposely placed next to a creek, with a nice stone fire ring to really enjoy the outdoors. In the cold months, it's heated by a wood burning stove. Also next to the house are logging roads that allow you to hike the Ripshin Mountains. The Yadkin River is near by, and so is Boone and Blowing Rock. If you like mountain biking, bring your bike to ride Kerr Scott, or Zacks Fork trails. Also, check out the workshops at Pattersonschoolfoundation.org They offer sustainable living classes such as cheese making, mushroom foraging, blacksmithing, soap making, kimchi making, etc...  Also ask about our private Yoga sessions. Last but not least, there is a wood burning private sauna that your able to reserve.Come enjoy our Happy Valley! Mi casa es su casa!

The name Paradise Ridge came from the area my family settled in during the late 1600's. That place is now called Joelton. I love the old name and I love that my family came through North Carolina to Tennessee, so I decided to bring the name back east with me. Creating Paradise Ridge as a permaculture paradise is my life's work. It is a slow and painful process in a world set on instant gratification but very rewarding to see it step by step each year. We hope to share our passion with you. Learn more about this land: Paradise Ridge is on a dead end road, with a gated community at the top of the mountain. It is a wonderful place in Fairview, NC. A small 5-acre lot completely off grid, we have no animals due to the storm that rocked the area. Most of the property has been untouched for the past 30 years. The small area kept under hand is managed with a permaculture approach to make as little disturbance as possible and to keep it protected for the wildlife around the area. The property has been chemical free for the past 20 years under Paradise Ridge; thus, it has plenty of wild edibles around for your pleasure. Mushrooms, weeds and added edibles for your experience. At the moment, we accept tents, hammocks, and the like for anyone to enjoy this little piece of paradise on Flat Top Mountain. We are located between Asheville and Chimney Rock. There is SO much the area has to offer; it is too much to list here. You can find great food, good beer, and lively music in either direction from Paradise Ridge. Or you can enjoy a simple quiet shared camp fire area. We are in the process of repairing fences, reseeding the pastures, and restructuring the hen house.

This immaculate small cabin near Asheville is ready to treat you to a luxurious retreat experience. We are located only 15 minutes from Asheville and a few miles from the parkway, surrounded by 14 acres of forest. There is a private hot tub that is all yours! Sauna available upon request. Professional massage therapist onsite as well. The house is hand crafted with unique creative touches for your delight. We look forward to having you! This home was built in 2019 by an expert craftsman with the vision of making it cozy and spacious with sweet artistic details and lots of care and love. The home is 300 sq feet but feels much more grand inside. You will be nestled on 14 pristine acres of forest, with two decks, your own personal private hot tub, and a spring fed creek not too far down the driveway. There is a gas fireplace outdoors on the porch, and an outdoor fire pit for your use as well. The house has a queen size bed in the upper loft, a large twin day bed on the first level, and an extra loft with camping mats if needed above the day bed. The house can comfortably sleep 3 and up to 4 or 5 especially if a couple of them are children or petite people. The house has a full kitchen and bathroom, living room area and two lofts. For now there is a composting toilet that is easy to maintain and we are happy to help you with it if you’re on the land for more than a few days. The main house is about 30 yards up the hill, and although somewhat close, you will have plenty of privacy. We are close if you need us, but we try to give all of our guests ultimate privacy. The house is under a huge magnolia tree, so it stays shaded in the summer and quite cool. There is an AC unit and heaters in the house as well. There is a personal hot tub, which is screened in, and located on the front deck of the house now. You will love it! There is a back deck that is only for meditation, yoga, and bird watching, and we ask that folks stay silent on the back deck if they use it. Pets are welcome at an extra charge of $40 a night. If anything is needed down at the house we are available. Much of the time there is a massage therapist on site, so if you are interested in getting Bodywork please just inquire about prices and availability. There is also a wood-fired sauna on the property, so if you would like to sauna please let us know. And an added bonus is that you are only 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and LOTS of great hiking, great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, art galleries and more. Asheville is 15 minutes from the tiny cabin and Weaverville is 10 minutes away. On any given day you might see a family a deer, turkeys or bears in the front yard. There is a spring fed creek on the edge of the property you are welcome to soak your feet in, and there is incredible hiking just a few miles away. You are welcome to explore the 13 acres of property as well that the home is located on. This is not a place for parties. Our neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill so we try to respect their privacy and keep it quiet. That is why we have made the back deck a retreat/silent deck. Maximum of 4 guests.

The Hillside site had more than I normally look for in a camp site, including an awesome cooking/prep area, a lovely platform for my tent, and so many included supplies that I was able to dramatically cut what I normally pack. The creekside area is gorgeous. I'm ready to come back with a group of friends!

Super friendly hosts and an excellent shaded campsite with table, chairs and a fire pit. It even had a hammock! What more could you ask for? But wait, there IS more! Access to a hot shower, indoor bathroom. Electric and fresh water just a few steps away as well. I even was able to get a taste of the excellent ciders and brews they make on site. The site itself had good runoff and wood flakes in the tent spot which I was thankful for since it rained hard overnight. I cannot say enough good things about this campsite and hosts. Highly recommended!

Great spot near Grayson Highlands Park, if you can't get a spot in the park. We didn't spend much day time hours there, as the park was our main attraction. It was a quiet place to sleep, and the brook provided an opportunity for freshening up. Didn't see anyone or hear any cars go by. Nice and tucked out of the way. The diner in Volney was a sweet place to get breakfast when we didn't feel like cooking.

Miss Martha was an extremely nice and very friendly hostess. Her property is very clean, well maintained and in my wife's opinion adorable. She has 2 helpers, orlowa and oreo that will happily take your trash out for you, just don't ask where because orlowa doesn't even know. Lol. But all jokes aside, very nice place to stay, miss Martha is very accommodating and has many things you may have forgotten for you trip. I highly recommend it if your a first time camper like myself and I will definitely be back!

Amy’s sites are in a beautiful grassy spot right on the river. Very comfortable place to set up a tent. We enjoyed building a fire right beside the river. Amy provided firewood for a small fee and was so thoughtful to provide fire starters, S’mores items, and some other fun snacks for the kids. Our boys loved fishing directly in front of our campsite and caught a few smallmouth bass. It’s close to Zaloo’s canoes who was our canoe/kayak outfitter. Handy portajohn and running water were great to have close by. We would definitely recommend Amy’s campsites. She was really friendly and flexible. When we had to switch weekends due to bad weather she allowed us to move to a different weekend. Thanks Amy!

Elizabeth and Mark were wonderful hosts. It was such a treat getting to tour their farm and meet the friendliest donkeys, goats, and dogs. They loved the attention, it was so cute. We were even gifted some fresh laid eggs that we had for breakfast the next morning. The treehouse is fully stocked, with a grill, camp stove, pots, pans, dishes, COFFEE, and everything! Elizabeth is also super attentive, quick to respond on the app, and, I can't help but tell this story... We had to call them on our first night to rescue us from a very intimidating spider! We were nervous to ask for help, thinking they might act like we were wimps for not being able to deal with it on our own, but Mark came down decked out in what looked like a beekeeper suit with poison spray, and Elizabeth had her pellet gun ready for battle! It was hilarious and incredible, and we are forever grateful for their bravery and how seriously they took the situation! We would definitely stay here again. Advice for future campers: Bring good lanterns and headlamps and leave your kitchen items at home!

We loved the peaceful escape of 3feather sanctuary. Amazing curvy mountain roads to get there, close enough to nearby towns, great spot to enjoy nature! Love the friendly-ness of the owners, welcoming vibe of the property and all of the nice amenities. The Fireside spot was a little hard to park our truck and camper in, on a steep hill and had to back out, I think I would prefer a different spot at 3feather with the camper next time. Would recommend!

Such a lovely experience! My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Happy Hillside. Elizabeth and Mark were warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Elizabeth was communicative from start to finish. The site was incredibly well-stocked. We loved the thoughtful touches like flowers, games, a creekside hangout area, and a rock painting set. The composting toilet was the best we’ve used, with daily cleanings and no odor. The optional farm experience was also fun! We loved meeting the animals and we got to cook our fresh eggs for breakfast the following day. Some heads-ups: the terrain includes stairs/levels, so consider that if you have knee issues. On two nights, we heard barking from a neighbor’s dog (they raise dogs), but it may not be a permanent situation. Light sleepers may want earplugs and/or a sound app. I had to use both but my friend went without either and slept great. Elizabeth’s three sweet dogs visited often, which we loved. The new sleeping hammocks were comfy and fun to try out. Peaceful yet close to town. We highly recommend!

Our home was built in 1904 and we have been lovingly restoring it since 2020. The camping field is a large space behind the main house that we do not use except as a garden space. It has a small labyrinth, fire pit, and picnic table. We do have neighbors nearby and the field is pretty open as landscaping is in progress. That being said, it is a quiet community! There is a lovely view of the surrounding hills and the night sky and summer fireflies are amazing! We are part of the Big Ivy Community and 13 miles north of Asheville. Hiking, biking, rafting, rafting, ziplining and more are all nearby. We are easily accessible to all things WNC including groceries, dining, gas and main roads. We do have 2 dogs that may roam from time to time though we will try to keep them away from the field during your stay. We are happy to answer any questions and will offer as much privacy as possible…but the garden may need to be tended to!

It was always a dream of ours to move here full time once our children were raised. We have recently moved here full time and Love sharing our beautiful space with hip campers. We enjoy meeting new people and helping guests create beautiful memories at this magical space we call "Lil Slice A Heaven " Learn more about this land: This is an amazing river front space with so much to offer. Included in your private space is an incredible outdoor covered grilling area that makes for fun while cooking on the river with the best waterfront view around. We also provide a very clean and well maintained Outhouse with hand washing station and a large fire pit with comfortable seating for six under the beautiful dark sky of Green mountain. You are sure to see shooting stars on a clear night! There is also a dish washing area with portable water that we provide for you. Lights are solar and can be controlled with a remote. We have yurt style canvas tents with queen memory foam beds, luxury linens provided as well as pillows. There is also a fantastic covered sitting area with comfortable wicker furniture and a lovely table for dinning or playing games. River tubes available for your use . Pets or children under 18 our welcome on an individual basis. There is a train across the river that may run several times a day or it may not run at all. This is not a passenger train. We find it very nostalgic. It's a must-see-for-yourself experience at On the Rocks geodesic dome at 4Creeks Cabin Co. River tubes available for your use . Pets or children under 18 our welcome on an individual basis. Vintage Appalachian Airstream

This Airstream has been to Alaska twice and all over the country.  We bought it in 2017 and have lovingly restored it.  It is mostly original.  The only big change we made was to remove the "gaucho" couch in front and replace it with a homemade four-person dinette that makes into a queen size bed.  Trail maps are embedded into the tabletop so you can plan your next hike.Learn more about this land:Come and stay in our vintage Airstream in the beautiful East Tennessee mountains.  Experience a wonderful slice of mid-century Americana located near historic Elizabethton, Watauga Lake, and literally across the street from the Cherokee National Forest.   Swimming, hiking, golf, NASCAR, boating, ziplines, paddle boarding, mountain biking/bike paths, fishing, kayaking, antiquing, classic cars, country music... you name it, we got it.We deliberately kept intact the wacky/vintage features of this 1967 Airstream  Trade Wind trailer.  It was in remarkable shape when we found it and we wanted to keep it as original as possible. The only major change we did was to remove the "gaucho" couch/bed in the front and built a four person dinette that makes into a queen size bed. The other two original bed spaces are only twin size.  There is a folding privacy screen between the twin bed area and the front where the queen bed/dinette is.  The dinette table has local trail maps embedded into it so you can see where you are and plan your next hike.  This is the last year that Airstream used real wood cabinetry(either cherry or mahogany) in their trailers and it is still in very good shape. Please do watch your head in the doorways if you are tall.  Historic Elizabethton: Must see the covered bridge! The cute old downtown has many shops and restaurants. On Saturday evenings you can get up close and personal with classic cars at the Cruise In (Carter County Car Club) from 5pm to 9pm.  At 7pm on the same evenings catch a free concert at the covered bridge.  Two gorgeous trout rivers run through Elizabethton.Area must see/do: This area offers a wealth of outdoor activities. Here is just a sample. The Tweetsie Trail bike/walk path (5 min drive).  Tannery Knobs mountain bike park (15 min drive). Sycamore Shoals state park (15 min drive). The Creeper Trail bike/walk (1 hr drive).  The wolf pack at Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium (1 hr drive).  Zipline, tower jump and giant swing at Off The Grid Mountain Adventures (15 min drive). Boat/kayak/paddle board rentals at Lakeshore Marina (15 min drive). Country music at the Down Home in Johnson City (30 min drive), and the Carter Fold (1 hr drive). AAA Baseball games at the Elizabethton Twins (10 min drive).  Vintage drive-in movie theatre Stateline Drive-In (5 min drive). Beds: Two twins with traditional mattresses, the dinette makes into a queen bed which is 6" memory foam.TV: A 22 inch TV is mounted on a swing arm so it is viewable from any of the beds and dining area inside.  Has a Roku streaming stick on it with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Acorn, PBS, BritBox and all the free channels.  There is good cell phone signal since we are up high. Fast reliable Wifi is included.Bathroom: The original mint green and turquoise bathroom is in the back behind a sliding door.  There is a small closet for hanging clothes and a short shower with crazy vintage folding shower curtain.  The "tub" is also tiny but kids would probably get a kick out of it. First aid items, towels, wash cloths, shampoo, shower gel, and hand soap is provided.  We added an outdoor shower for those who don't like to crouch while they get clean.  :)Clotheslines:  There is one inside (between the twin beds) and one outside.  Please don't hang towels on the fence because it will leave rust marks.  Please don't hang bath towels on the little rack meant for dish towels because it is not meant to support so much weight.  Thank you!Cooking: The original four burner stove and oven still work.  There is a microwave, small fridge, toaster, French Press coffee maker and percolator, cookware, utensils, plates, glasses, cups, bottle openers, etc... Outside is a cooler for more drinks, bottle opener mounted to an upright, charcoal bbq grill and grilling tools, fire pit where you can roast weenies and make s'mores. Firewood is provided ($10 fee) as well as basic supplies like oil, salt, pepper, spices, sugar and creamer.Lighting: Coming up the driveway we have several motion-activated solar lights.  Additionally, the patio area has electric lights on a timer, but you can control those.  Inside the vintage light fixtures still work and we have updated the bulbs to LED.  Each bed has its own light and charging station.Children: Please supervise your children.  Beyond the fence is a steep drop off (which is why we added the fence).  The firepit and charcoal grill are obvious hazards.  There are 3+ playgrounds in Elizabethton. We keep chickens and, in some seasons, we can provide you with fresh eggs.  Your kids can toss food to the chickens at our log cabin next door. For rainy days check out the Hands On Discovery Center and Fossil Site in Gray (40 min drive).Pets: You are welcome to bring one well-behaved dog.  Dogs are absolutely not permitted on the beds, cannot be left unattended, or outside alone at night.  We've provided a tie-out. Wildlife: We've got lots of wildlife so please don't leave any food or fish guts outside, especially overnight. A garbage bin is provided but if you've got anything particularly stinky in there just let us know and we will remove it.  You may see deer, turkeys, raccoons, rabbits, possums, skunks, snakes, eagles, vultures, herons, coyotes and even a rare bear.  Our cats might come to visit you but please don't feed them since we don't want to encourage them to hang out at the Airstream.  They have lots of food always available at our house next door.Appalachian Trail Shuttle: We can pick up and drop off two backpackers only, or three if small or don't mind being squished a bit. $5 per person, per trip from the trail in Hampton or to/from Elizabethton.Site: The Airstream is located next to a winding mountain road that is generally quiet.  However, there are neighbors who might have to mow their lawns or weed whack so its not always perfectly quiet or private here.  Sometimes the bull frogs and tree frogs make quite a racket.  There is a pond below, behind the trees, and they hang out there.  We've planted a row of fast-growing evergreens as a screen from the road but the trees are still small.Parking: There is plenty of room for two vehicles (or your boat).  The entrance to the driveway is at a sharp angle to the road so you are recommended to turn your vehicle around by the Airstream so that when you head out again you are not backing into the road. We have one security camera facing the driveway.

But if you want the ease and peace of a campsite RIGHT ON THE NEW RIVER with everything just steps from your tent, then come out and claim your site! Redemption: To repair or restore. To make good. This campground represents redemption and healing in so many ways. Our hope is that you will find much peace, joy, and adventure here and we promise to do our best to make it everything you expected and more! Numerous large manicured campsites in an open space DIRECTLY ON THE NEW RIVER where adventures abound! Up to 4 guests and 2 tents per site. Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

Welcome to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! At approximately 3,455 feet elevation we enjoy mountain breezes all summer long, especially in the evening! . The Raised bed style flat tent sites divert water during rain storms so there is no water or mud flowing into your tents. PLEASE DO NOT ‘photo book’! We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site and do not book by photos alone. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. PLEASE Do your research!!! Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’. The ‘wildlife’ sites require parking in guest parking lot and a 5 minute walk. As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult. During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer coffee and sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state. We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks. Again, PLEASE read through all the descriptions of each particular site to make certain you choose the right fit for your camping needs. Do not book by ‘photos’ alone! We cannot stress this enough and it has been problematic to many hipcamp hosts We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just around the corner from the famous Emerald Village Mines and only a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Many weekends we have live music from local musicians. Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is now open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers. Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit. The Latest check in permitted is 11:30 pm at night out of courtesy to our neighbors and other campers. Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding. Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). With farm animals and 140 acres of woods nearby and three deep ponds in those woods it can be a dangerous situation for young, unsupervised children. If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe. Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. A rabies tag or photo of certificate is fine. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property. It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Please do not blame the host! HipCamp now offers rainy day insurance. Watch for our special events like ghost story campfire tales/walk with local guest authors, mountain yoga, herbal remedies classes, trail treasure hunts with prizes, mushroom identification classes etc. Additional parking is available for added cars in the guest parking lot area if campers have no more room at their campsite for visitors or any extra cars. We have a hot/cold shower and modern style flush toilets available in large cargo container. We also now have free Starlink WiFi in the Cantina/clubhouse area and some of the closer tent sites. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas. Note: The One quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses. Note: The gray building and pond area is NOT our property. Please be respectful of our neighbors and the family that lives there. Do not wander around our neighbors pond /barn area. Thank you! All campers are expected to read and follow the HipCamp guidelines. This is not just a ‘business’, it is also a family home that we are graciously sharing with you for a small fee so we expect campers to respectful of our land, our neighbors and your fellow campers. Anyone who can’t show integrity, maturity and be responsible and respectful of this will be asked to leave and/or permanently banned from both the winery and our campgrounds. No fighting! This includes couples fighting. Settle it 'off property'. We are pretty mellow, yet take bad behavior and disrespect for others very seriously. Unsupervised children has been a huge problem lately and we simply won’t tolerate very young children wandering the woods, running across other folks campsites, deliberately damaging our property etc. It is up to the parents to fully supervise their children and keep them safe! Caught without a last minute hotel room and rather not park your family in Walmart lot? We offer car camping in our parking lot for $15.00 a night. You’ll have access to bathrooms and a hot shower! We also have tents, sleeping bags and camping mats for rent. Summer of 2025 will be our third year open and there have been many wonderful improvements! ❤️ We made it through Hurricane Helene with minimal damage and with the help of some kind volunteers we have some great updates!

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

I sleep a lot on the day bed in the living room so the Sawmill can be comfortably rented for up to 4 guests. The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

If you are looking for peace and tranquility in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this privately owned, primitive campground is a great place for your tent! Nestled in Medford Mountain at about 1200 ft., each creek-side slip has a magnificent view of the 1532 ft. mountaintop. Whether surrounded by spring blossoms or fall foliage, animal and leaf lovers often see turkeys at dawn and deer at dusk. Foxes and bobcats have also been spotted on occasion. It is important to note that bear and coyote roam freely on the adjacent mountaintop, although are rarely seen or heard. Proper wilderness precautions must always be taken while camping. Aside from the flora and fauna, one of the biggest attractions is the star-filled sky. On a clear night, it is imperative to take a break from your private campfire to appreciate the Milky Way. You may also enjoy the meteor showers in August and other celestial events. Not to be outdone, the day sky does not disappoint. If a pop-up shower passes through, a double rainbow is often left in its wake. In the surrounding area, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy during the day. In a half hour or less, you may go horseback riding, ziplining, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hiking, and climbing. Public access to Lake Lure is less than 15 mi. away, but access to a lakeside road with amazing views is only a couple of minutes away. In addition, there is a little-known waterfall about 8 minutes up the street. If spending the day on site, be sure to walk the trail on the opposite side of the creek and hike up the hill for a different view. In addition, badminton, volleyball, ladder ball, cornhole, Yardzee, croquet, bocce, frisbees, footballs, board games and books are available for free rental. Plus, children may enjoy gem mining in the creek (for an additional fee). Of course, everyone can play Slapsquatch on the grounds for free. *Last minute decision? No worries! Check out our equipment package for two. We also sell firewood and rent tents, hammocks and other equipment separately. Valle View Camp Spot! A flat and private spot. Praise Be! Quiet area of Valle Crucis. It is just 2 miles from the original Mast General Store. Larger units must back in carefully between the guard rail and the ditch. The lot had some damage from Helene. This is a parking lot of an old church and sits by two small creeks. Maximum stays are up to 6 nights. No water, no septic. No generators are allowed.  Large concrete pad/parking lot for RV and an extra car or two. This is a campsite only, an RV is not included. We have electricity but no water or septic.  In the spring, summer, and fall - We have a toilet and hand-washing sink inside the building that you may use if you select this as an "add-on". A code to enter the building will be sent if you add this feature. This site does not have potable water and does not have a shower. The closest public bathrooms are at Valle Crucis Community Park. Mountain Dog Coffee and Holloway Corner Kitchen are private, but good places to start your day with coffee and/or food. Please respect our neighbors by limiting noise. This lot is private, but you may see or hear the neighbors. Dogs must always be on a leash when outside your RV or car.  There are no garbage cans or trash pick-up; pack it out, please. The trash/convenience center is about 2 miles away on 194 for you to take your garbage.  We DO NOT advise taking Clarks Creek Rd. from 105 to get to this location. You must travel to Clarks Creek through Valle Crucis via 194. You must also detach any trailer or towed items a mile or so before the camp spot and before the switchbacks. Please view the map and be comfortable with travel to our campsite. There are sections of the road with no shoulder and pit holes due to current construction/road work. There is very limited cellular service in this area. WiFi & WiFi calling should work fine. --- We have a 50 AMP Hookup NO water NO septic. If you have 2 cars, trucks or RVs in the same group you may add them on as another unit. Grandfather Mountain Campground on 105 allows non-guests to use their dump station for a fee. The trash/convenience center is about 2 miles away on 194 for you to take your garbage. Take the trash there before hooking up and leaving as that section of 194 has a large truck warning.

Our home was built in 1904 and we have been lovingly restoring it since 2020. The camping field is a large space behind the main house that we do not use except as a garden space. It has a small labyrinth, fire pit, and picnic table. We do have neighbors nearby and the field is pretty open as landscaping is in progress. That being said, it is a quiet community! There is a lovely view of the surrounding hills and the night sky and summer fireflies are amazing! We are part of the Big Ivy Community and 13 miles north of Asheville. Hiking, biking, rafting, rafting, ziplining and more are all nearby. We are easily accessible to all things WNC including groceries, dining, gas and main roads. We do have 2 dogs that may roam from time to time though we will try to keep them away from the field during your stay. We are happy to answer any questions and will offer as much privacy as possible…but the garden may need to be tended to!

Learn more about this land:Onsite views of the Black Mountain Range, and a small creek with good water. Several trails to explore on the land with abundant spicebush and other forest medicinals. Steep terrain. We are raising bees, chickens (including a couple roosters), and geese on our farm. Two dogs are our pets, a great pyrenees and a black lab. The site is near the AT crossing at Sams Gap. A great whitewater spot is a short drive away on the Nolichucky river in Erwin TN. Other great nearby hiking options include Big Ivy, Pisgah Forest, and Mt Mitchell. 10 minutes to the cute college town of Mars Hill with a brewery, restaurants, Saturday morning farmers market, and coffee shop. Asheville is 25 minutes South.

Our farm is named for its site on the South Toe river and this pristine and mighty river indeed showed us their power during Hurricane Helene. At this time, we will be closed for an indeterminate amount of time. The farm was completely flooded by Hurricane Helene September 27th, 2024. All the greenhouses, barns, and fields were impacted and destroyed. We hope to rebuild and open again some day, but the river is completely different and the riparian camping area is now a 30 foot wall of trees at this time. We have had such fond memories of all the people who have camped with us and grown to love our place as well. We thank you for all your love and energy.
