Our 400 acre family cow and pine tree farm most of which was purchased 60 years ago by my father and mother. My two siblings and me were raised here and later bought joining land that now makes up the 400 acres. We all still live on the farm with our families 1.4 mile down a dirt and gravel road. We all enjoy the peace and quiet that you will find here. Sounds of our cows, wildlife and the occasional rumble of a distant train is all you will hear on our farm. Our Hidden Creek is a short fun hike to cool your tired feet. Wide hiking paths all the way around our property if you would like a long hike. Learn more about this land: Enjoy your privacy on our 400 acres of farm and forest trails. 10 minutes from groceries and gas, 15 minutes from a small town. We are surrounded by farmland and forest. There are a few different attractions 5 - 10 minutes away (lake Robinson) it has a boat landing and plenty of fish, (Carolina Sandhills national wildlife refuge)it has plenty of hiking trails and roads perfect for bicycling, small mountain called (Sugarloaf Mountain)perfect for hiking. Local peach/strawberry farm (McLeod farm) with produce/gift shop/free museum/restaurant called (Big's), they have pick your own strawberries in the spring and early summer. In nearby Hartsville and Cheraw there are several golf courses and places for Kayak rentals. Neptune Island waterpark in Hartsville.   We have a hidden Creek that is fun to hike to by way of a trail. Small pond for fishing, plenty of room for hiking and bike riding ( grassy, sandy, rolling hills). Beautiful hills to camp on and watch an unobstructed view of the Carolina sunset and sunrise that peak through wooded acreage. Choose a tent camp location or pull/drive your RV/camper right near our cow pasture and watch the cows graze. Fresh drinking water at campsites. Bathroom and heated shower. Pick wild blackberries in early summer and wild grapes in late summer early fall, and we may share some of our home made jellies with you. We welcome family groups year round. At night enjoy the sounds of wildlife while watching the highly visible twinkling stars and tracing the many constellations and if lucky see a shooting star or two.

The McKenzie Home Place has been in the same family since the late 1700ś with craftsmanship of the home dating it to 1820. The McKenzies played a big role in the building of Pinehurst with the Grist Mill Parties and even the famous little cabin aptly named The Womens Exchange in Pinehurst, NC being purchased from Author McKenzie who himself was raised in in this beautiful home. It it property that was once inhabited by our Native American Indian as many Indian Points have been pulled from the fields on the property. In its last days as a working farm it was a tobacco farm. There are remnants of the past life scattered around. Including The Green Barn; a 2 story tobacco barn where the tobacco was strung on tobacco sticks, hung on rafters to be cured and taken to market. Memories of times past linger all around, after 200 years it is still standing and ready for many more memories to carry on for generations to come....I am only its keeper for now, until I pass and it is then up to the future McKenzie generations to keep the light burning.... Lovely campsite with everything needed to make life a little easier. The bathroom and shower houses were cute and clean. The surroundings felt like you were in the country, but you were only 20 minutes from town amenities. Fantastic hosts who made sure everything was perfect and very responsive to questions. So many little extras made for a great stay.

It was very quiet and private, yet close enough to town with great restaurants and the Darlington Raceway (we came for the NASCAR race) that it wasn’t inconvenient. The host was there to help ensure our Airstream got hooked up properly and was so kind. We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay and great memories!

Melissa & Dennis are top notch hosts who care about their guests and even provide a small plot of Rosemary and Basil for those who love to cook! Excellent touch. This was our first Hip Camp venture and we were more than pleased with Dennis & Melissa's Hidden Creek site. We really appreciated their gentle conversation and their openness with their property. Being able to move about freely added to the overall sense of relaxation of the space. The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful. We also very much appreciated the playground equipment, outdoor lights, and really all of the amenities that were available. The home-made feel of the campsite was an added joy. You can tell they care and they want to be Hip Camp hosts.

Melissa and Dennis’ spot was a sweet, quiet spot. We only spent one night on our way through South Carolina but would definitely go back. Melissa and Dennis were there to greet us when we arrived and were super accommodating, even turning the water on for us even though it was turned off due to the cold weather. Would definitely recommend their place to anyone looking for a scenic, peaceful place to stay.
