This 17-acre site has diverse habitats, from an upland pine and hardwood forest to wild native meadows full of blueberries, asters and milkweed. The most special feature is a large tributary and creek waterway system with areas of wetland. Once choked with invasive plants, it is now a largely restored native plant and wildlife habitat that supports migrating herons, trout, amphibians and clouds of Monarch and other butterflies. In the fall I've seen Monarchs circle up in vortexes from the meadows and take off on their migration. There are several large swimming holes where the creek turns or joins with its tributary. Bridges have been installed over the tributary and over brooklets feeding into it.
A lot of care and love is going into this land. Over 500 native trees planted along the creek banks are growing into a forest - you'll see many still in protective tubes and cages. Thousands of native pollinator ground-plants have been planted or sprung up on their own, some like tiny flowering gems on the shady forest floors.
The old stone walls running through the property and around its boundaries speak to its history as a farm and an apple orchard. Swimming, hiking, fishing and bird-and-wildlife watching will fascinate you in this dynamic landscape that is constantly coming closer to what used to exist hundreds of years ago and is now reestablishing itself.
In the vicinity, there's Tetta's, a deli/cafe/gas station and small emporium with made-to-order pizza, local raw honey, mushroom, crafts, and all kinds of food, pretty much everything you need; it's been in the family for generations. Find it Northeast on Samsonville Road (County Rt. 3) at the junctions of Rts. 2 & 3. There's a hike to a waterfall if you drive a few miles down Upper Cherrytown Road from the end of Sundown Road: you'll see a parking lot with signs for the falls; the DEC-maintained trail is across the road (https://www.catskillmountaineer.com/SD-vernooy-falls-east.html). There's venues nearby along Rt. 209 with local musicians on Saturday nights: places like The Outpost Barbeque, 6611 Rt. 209 in Kerhonkson, Lydia's Cafe at 7 Old US Hwy 209, Stone Ridge. Near Lydia's is a favorite afternoon hang-out, Cherries Roadside and General, which not only has literally hundreds of ice cream flavors, but an excellent, informal restaurant. I can talk to you about many other fun places.

It is tucked in between the Hudson River (8 miles to the East) and the Catskill Mountains (10 miles to the west). It is just 6 miles from the Village of Saugerties and 14 miles to Woodstock, NY.
The piece available for camping is 10 acres, but the entire Garden is comprised of 98 acres of rolling land (most of it in a forestry protection plan) bordered on the west by acres of marshland. Many trails criss-cross the Garden and lead one to pretty or interesting vistas including a large mountain laurel patch, ancient graveyard, and different stands of mixed wood forests.

Cook a meal on a propane grill. You are welcomed to bring aluminum trays! Charge your phones or laptops should you need to do a little work under the canopy of the trees! (Yes! If something a little bit further from nature tickles your fancy, jump in your car for a quick ride to Uptown Kingston or Saugerties where you’ll find plenty of great restaurants and shops to visit during your stay. Either way, you're sure to enjoy!
End your day with a nice fire under the stars! You have two comfy Adirondack chairs and an enclosed fire pit for your use!! Be sure to bring enough wood as you’ll want to linger around the fire just a little while longer!!
During the cooler months, enjoy a small heater that will warm up the tent to a toasty temperature perfect for sleeping! Sweet dreams are sure to follow!
**If staying with us during the months of November through April, please note that the water is turned off to protect the pipes. We do offer a small electric heater and plenty of warm blankets and comforters. The outdoor shower is sure to waken your senses with refreshing lukewarm water and get you ready for a day of exploring in the Hudson Valley or simply staying put at the Cabin with your favorite book.
You will have your own free off-street parking spot. There is a camera facing the parking spot. It is the only one on the property. On the way to the cabin, you will see the porta-potty that is cleaned out weekly and sanitized between each guest. It is stocked with plenty of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, body wipes and sanitizing wipes! Our guests always rave that our porta-potty's are the cleanest they've ever seen.
This getaway is perfect for those who are not convinced about camping in a tent just yet but are willing to test the waters in an actual cabin with windows, shades and a door! Nature is calling you but you'd rather sleep with the comfort of solid surroundings and air conditioning or heating. We get it! THIS is for you! So book your stay today....you will not regret it!
When the temperatures drop, usually in November, we must turn off the water hose in order to preserve the hose and keep it from freezing. We provide water in 5 Gallon jugs for cleaning dishes and for personal hygiene. Please note, sometimes it gets so cold that the water freezes! During those times, we suggest bringing in water that you will use on a daily basis. You must bring in your own drinking water! We will provide you with a supply of paper plates, cups and plastic utensils! Water is typically turned back on in April.
Winter camping adventure awaits! Staying at The Wasburn Cabin in winter months has proven to be an absolutely magical experience for hundreds of our guests. However, it does require a little extra planning and an understanding of winter in the Hudson Valley. Between November and April, the weather can have its extremes and does not allow for running water as the pipes will freeze and crack. Unfortunately, even leaving bottled water often just ends up being blocks of ice and not useable for our guests. We simply ask guests to bring in water during their stay to ensure a safe useable water source. We also ask guests to bring proper clothes. The insulated cabin does reach comfortable temperatures, however, extreme cold snaps can make it necessary to bundle up and cuddle with your main squeeze. If you are open to a little adventure and a little planning, come and enjoy our little oasis! If you are looking for high end amenities with hot showers and instant heat on demand, this is probably not for you and we suggest trying our outdoor experiences in warmer months.
While we are located in a neighborhood, cell phone service can be spotty. We personally have not had any issues. We hope that once you arrive at the cabin, you’ll settle in and realize that disconnecting will help you reconnect to yourself! We offer limited wifi. Meaning, the signal may not be super strong but can help in getting you online to search the internet but may not be strong enough to stream. Disconnect....nature is calling.

Nestled in native blueberry bushes, high above a beautiful ravine and surrounded by pine trees. This Geo-Dome overlooks the Palmaghatt Kill Stream from its wide windows and beautiful deck. Equipped with a log queen bed, skylight above, super soft linens, cozy blankets, and a down comforter in the colder months. Included are towels, a mini fridge, bluetooth speaker, Keurig machine, coffee, charcoal grill, lantern, umbrellas, a mini library of books and 1 gallon drinking water. If you are coming as a family, one additional children's mattress on the floor may be added.
Outside of your Geo-Dome you will find an amazing private fire pit, charcoal grill and hammock. Firewood bundles are available for purchase for $10 or you may bring your own. In addition, each site has an outhouse, which is thoroughly cleaned after each guest. A bit rustic, but there is no odor!
Geo-Domes are a short 1 - 3 minute walk from parking. Please dress accordingly in colder months. You will be greeted by our Host at the gate for check-in and guided to your site. Guest waivers to be completed at check-in. Our Geo-Domes are dog friendly and require a $75 pet fee. One dog maximum. No cats allowed. You will have cellular service!

**History of The Awosting Club**
In the mid 1950's John Atwater Bradley, then a graduate student, attended a conference in Cragsmoor, the site of a celebrated art colony not far from what is now the Awosting Reserve and The Awosting Club. The next morning at dawn, he went out for an exploratory hike and did not return until long after dark. Bradley hiked through evergreen and hardwood forests, along bubbling streams, roaring waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, racoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge.
The Bradley family still maintain the property, and after 50 years of sharing the property with educational organizations, schools, artists, writers, explorers, camps, family and friends, are excited to invite others to fall in love with the Shawangunk Ridge as John Bradley had over 70 years ago. We had a great time at Leah's Creekside Cottage. A perfect location and wonderful space for our group. The cottage had all the amenities we needed, was spotless and very quiet (all you could hear was the sound of the creek). The area around Leah's place is absolutely beautiful. Plenty of places to hike and enjoy the outdoors. We'll be back!

Great shower, plentiful drinking water, and the A frame was purposefully suited to travelling with a cat. He was contained in there when needed. Secluded enough to change clothes and wash up at your site. Friendly and responsive hosts. We were so happy and comfortable there, and we will come back!

My 3 friends, my dog, and I loved camping at this site. It was so serene and Judith prepped us with everything we could need. I could tell she truly cares about the people who stay at her beautiful site! We walked around and swam in the swimming holes which she drew out for us on a map. She left us linens and a lighter and bug spray, as well as prepped the beds in the tent. The tent itself was so awesome!! We actually got really heavy rain for about an hour and were able to relax inside the tent. We thought, how much better is this than if we were in little pop up tents! Lol. It was really an amazing time. There was nobody around us and so we had so much space to ourselves. I definitely will want to come back to this magical spot.

John and A.C.'s place is a beautiful, peaceful respite in Big Indian. My husband, our daughter, our dog and I had such a restful and fun time in their well appointed and cared for site. The beds were comfy, the tent clean and spacious and Escopus creek was great for taking a dip and using the clay to paint my daughter's face. John was on site to show us around our first day and was a great host. It's also well located-- we can't wait to return because we didn't make it to pedal cars on the railway or the gondola ride! Phoencia was totally worth a visit, though. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Tiny Cabin on 45 Acres With Stream
What stood out to me about Jeremy’s land was how safe I felt. This is the closest I’ve come of camping from childhood and I loved it!
The cabin felt secure as well as the beautiful tent a few feet away. The fire pit and seating was what I was looking forward to hanging with family as I celebrated my nearing birthday.
The running river alongside the sight was also a win and the walking trail to the swimming hole! It felt very private away from it all, which is what this city woman needed.
My only caveat was needing to provide my own wood for the fire pit due to the pricing of the stay I felt things such as that should already be included.
Aside from that I would definitely stay again!

First time staying in an RV/Camper, so our expectations were not that high. BUT, this camper was full stocked with almost everything you would need for your stay! It doesn’t feel too small for 2 people and a dog. It exceeded our expectations. The campsite space is quiet and private. The trail behind the area was great to walk our dog! The stream at the end was very cool. The firepit was well stocked and we used it every night. It was a perfect little getaway. The host was very attentive to anything we needed.

The Hilltop Cabin was a fantastic summer getaway. It was the perfect size for our group, and having both a swimming pool and a private tennis court made the stay extra special. We spent hours in the pool escaping the heat and had a blast playing pickleball on the court. It struck a great balance between feeling secluded and still having plenty to do. If you’re looking for a relaxing retreat just outside the city, this is a wonderful spot to unwind and recharge.

This was a phenomenal property for the kids to explore. We had a great time and appreciate the hospitality of our hosts, who made sure everything was set up and good to go for our arrival. Lots of quick trips to shop and eat in the area helped to break up the few days. This was our second time at the site and it was just as beautiful as we had remembered (6 years later)!
