This piece of land was developed by my mother, and named after my grandmother: The Awakening Garden is a translation of her name in Chinese.
It is tucked in between the Hudson River (8 miles to the East) and the Catskill Mountains (10 miles to the west). It is just 6 miles from the Village of Saugerties and 14 miles to Woodstock, NY.
The piece available for camping is 10 acres, but the entire Garden is comprised of 98 acres of rolling land (most of it in a forestry protection plan) bordered on the west by acres of marshland. Many trails criss-cross the Garden and lead one to pretty or interesting vistas including a large mountain laurel patch, ancient graveyard, and different stands of mixed wood forests.
There’s lots of wildlife both on land and in the marshes.

Our campsite is approximately 2 hours from George Washington Bridge. This property is 45 acres of beautiful forest with 2000 feet of streamfront on the Mombaccus Creek where you can hang out and cool off on those hot summer days.
Minutes from hiking, fishing and horse-riding and everything great about the Catskills. The outdoor kitchen helps you to connect to nature as you brew your morning coffee! K-cup coffee maker, mini-fridge(In-season), cooler and propane grill are just some of the amenities you will enjoy during your stay. You can comfortably enjoy your morning coffee and farm fresh egg breakfast on the covered outdoor kitchen deck on the table for two. Or head over by the fire pit with comfy adirondack chairs. The outdoor shower is sure to waken your senses with refreshing lukewarm water and get you ready for a day of exploring in the Hudson Valley or simply staying put at the Cabin with your favorite book.
You will have your own free off-street parking spot. There is a camera facing the parking spot. It is the only one on the property. On the way to the cabin, you will see the porta-potty that is cleaned out weekly and sanitized between each guest. It is stocked with plenty of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, body wipes and sanitizing wipes! Our guests always rave that our porta-potty's are the cleanest they've ever seen.
This getaway is perfect for those who are not convinced about camping in a tent just yet but are willing to test the waters in an actual cabin with windows, shades and a door! Nature is calling you but you'd rather sleep with the comfort of solid surroundings and air conditioning or heating. We get it! THIS is for you! So book your stay today....you will not regret it!
When the temperatures drop, usually in November, we must turn off the water hose in order to preserve the hose and keep it from freezing. We provide water in 5 Gallon jugs for cleaning dishes and for personal hygiene. Please note, sometimes it gets so cold that the water freezes! During those times, we suggest bringing in water that you will use on a daily basis. You must bring in your own drinking water! We will provide you with a supply of paper plates, cups and plastic utensils! Water is typically turned back on in April.
Winter camping adventure awaits! Staying at The Wasburn Cabin in winter months has proven to be an absolutely magical experience for hundreds of our guests. However, it does require a little extra planning and an understanding of winter in the Hudson Valley. Between November and April, the weather can have its extremes and does not allow for running water as the pipes will freeze and crack. Unfortunately, even leaving bottled water often just ends up being blocks of ice and not useable for our guests. We simply ask guests to bring in water during their stay to ensure a safe useable water source. We also ask guests to bring proper clothes. The insulated cabin does reach comfortable temperatures, however, extreme cold snaps can make it necessary to bundle up and cuddle with your main squeeze. If you are open to a little adventure and a little planning, come and enjoy our little oasis! If you are looking for high end amenities with hot showers and instant heat on demand, this is probably not for you and we suggest trying our outdoor experiences in warmer months.
While we are located in a neighborhood, cell phone service can be spotty. We personally have not had any issues. We hope that once you arrive at the cabin, you’ll settle in and realize that disconnecting will help you reconnect to yourself! We offer limited wifi. Meaning, the signal may not be super strong but can help in getting you online to search the internet but may not be strong enough to stream. Disconnect....nature is calling.

My family & I stayed here with our reactive dog & also added the glamping tent during early April. The weather was chilly & wet, but that didn’t spoil our fun! The cabin warms up quickly with the wood burning stove, & the tent heats up fast (and cools off fast) with a provided propane heater. There’s a proper bed & rugs in the tent & I packed accordingly for the weather, so we didn’t sleep cold. The cabin is tiny (as stated), but don’t let that deter you. It’s well appointed & thought out. The owners put so much love into every detail in this property. We didn’t take advantage of the provided StarLink WiFi, the TV, or the projector because we wanted to be as analog as possible. We DID play an epic game of Monopoly & we cooked every meal in the outdoor kitchen. The compostable toilet was surprisingly inoffensive. The cedar chips do a great job of warding off the offending #2 odors… there were some minor adjustments to having to pee beforehand. Did not use the outdoor shower simply because the thought of being wet outside when it was so cold out didn’t sound appealing to us. Stuck to using travel body wipes when necessary. I DID do a cold plunge in the swimming hole on the only mildly temperate day when the sun came out for a visit! It was refreshing & fun. Kids fished (no catches). Last morning there, I swear my boyfriend & I (sleeping in the tent) heard Bigfoot walking by!!!! You feel like you’re in a world forgotten, even though you’re still so close to everything.

2 nights at The Awakening Garden
This was such a cozy and wintery cabin experience. My partner and I stayed over New Years Eve and enjoyed the snow falling, the wood stove firing away, a full moon, and blissfully almost no cell service at all (relief!). It was magical to drop into quiet woods and appreciate an absolutely tranquil experience all around. We decided we want to come back for another round once it warms up this spring/summer!
Tips for future guests: in the cold season, acquire PLENTY of firewood as it takes a lot to stay warm! But once the little cabin heats up, its plenty hot, especially up in the loft. We loved going to Ambrosia Diner down the road too, and bearing witness to the waterfalls of the Catskills.

Really peaceful and clarifying time here. I stayed at the Twin Oaks Cabin with the wood stove, which was cozy on the cold winter nights. Lots of trails nearby in the catskills. Friendly host. Would recommend!

I had a fantastic time at Peter’s Awakening Cabin. It was incredibly peaceful - I enjoyed using the fire pit out front and the wood burning stove inside. Perfect place to read audiobooks, think, and enjoy time in nature.

The container cabin was incredibly cool! Michael was happy to answer questions about the space, construction, and area. He provided all the amenities, and was kind enough to give a tour of the microgreen grow space and some greens to take home. Very cozy, beautiful woods, and a kind host. We had a great time!

Weekend Trip to The Awakening Garden
My partner and I were able to spend a really lovely weekend at the Twin Oaks cabin on Peter's campgrounds. We spent most of our time riding around on motorcycle and got in after dark on both nights. The view of the stars just overhead of the cabin was gorgeous. It felt gratifying to build the fire in the woodstove each night, which heat up the little cabin in no time. We got to see more of the thoughtful details in the cabin and even in the outhouse and outdoor shower as we were packing up on our last morning there. We'll be back in the area this time next year and would love to make it a new tradition to come back to theTwin Oaks cabin! Thank you for offering this space!

I LOVED the privacy, quiet and amazing A Frame. It was well put together with adorable and practical touches. All directions were clear and informative. The hosts kindly offered vegetables, as their garden was brimming. Wonder-filled experience!!

We had an incredible time at Washburn! It felt very secluded and while it felt like we were "glamping," it had all the amenities that we needed. I also must note that theirs is the nicest and cleanliest port-o-potty that I have ever experienced! That means a lot. Fire pit nice, cabin cozy and comfortable,, chairs relaxing, umbrella to keep out the sun, grill full of gas, and the refrigerator cold.
Spent day one hiking Huckleberry Point- the view is worth it. Day two spent on the Hudson with a Captain exploring, tubing and knee boarding.
We'd definitely stay there again!

We loved staying at Tree Day Weekend! The cabin is cozy and the loft bed was super comfy. The outdoor kitchen was great and made cooking super easy, both on the gas stove and on the fire. Add in a hot shower and refreshing swimming hole, and it's a perfect glamping situation.

Weekend Trip to Burr Oaks Forest secluded campsites
Michael and Laura maintain a beautiful property nestled in the Catskills mountains. Camp was full the night we stayed but the sites are indeed secluded and we rarely saw anyone else. Michael was on hand when we arrived to make sure we had all of the information we needed. We arrived later in the day (around 3:30) got settled quickly into the simple a-frame, and had time to make a 3 hour hike up neighboring slide mountain and make dinner on the campfire after returning. We couldn’t believe how few bugs were out for the beginning of July (my boyfriend and I are both native western New Yorkers so this was a nice surprise.) We were able to combine the 2 cot mattresses along with our double camp mattress on top and fold up the single cots for the night with room to stow them in the corner and sleep comfortably amongst the ferns while listening to the hoots of the owls. Thanks so much Michael for the great stay in the woods!

We had such a peaceful and restorative stay here. The campsite, the cabin, all of the amenities, the trails, etc. are beautifully designed with a lot of thoughtful touches. It feels very special and welcoming! The kitchen setup, the outdoor shower, and the fire pit with Adirondack chairs definitely elevated the camping experience. Our dogs had a great time exploring the woods, and we felt very comfortable letting them roam around with us. Last thing I'll gush about: the ever-present sound of the creek is unbelievably soothing. Highly recommend this site if you want a place to disconnect and unwind in nature...with a convenience store a short drive away :-)

2 nights at On-Farm Container Building/Glamping
We loved our container stay! Hosts were very hospitable and generous. The place was so clean and the kitchen was well equipped! The grounds are beautiful and in a perfect location in the woods and grassy farmland. Lots of hikes, swimming holes, and towns nearby, definitely want to come back!
