We use this as a ski house in the winter (usually only on weekends). It’s just 45 minutes from the ski valley. Enjoy gorgeous wood ceilings, great views, quiet surroundings, and wonderful natural light. The house is securely tucked away at the end of a long shared driveway, and an acequia runs along one side of the property. The home is fully furnished and totally livable: sheets, towels, dishes, a king bed in the master, tables and chairs, couches, dressers, washer/dryer, BBQ grill, and more. The second bedroom features queen bunk beds.

We loved staying at The Rainbow Connection on Jayme & Doug’s land. The instructions were clear and helpful. Being so close to the Rio Grande was such a treat, and being at essentially the start of the Enchanted Circle Drive was also amazing. It was such a cozy spot to land each night and we enjoyed making breakfast with the windows open and the cool early morning breeze. Would definitely stay again! And will definitely recommend to friends!

This is a wonderful space, there are great views to be had, definitely stroll around the property for different vantage points. The space feels very private and it was amazingly quiet, especially in the evenings The homes themselves are laid how really well and do not "feel" tiny at all, the kitchen was stocked with what you need and totally functional making meal prep a breeze. In the evenings, with the windows open there was a wonderful breeze. During the hot day, the AC was more than sufficient to keep the home cool. Hot tub is an amazing place to watch the sun set and then to gaze at the stars that follow. Host was wonderful and provided us with a hike recommendation that ended up being our favorite of the trip. Should also mention the proximity to hiking, the Rio Grand and Taos made this a great location! Highly recommend!

We are a bicycling group of 5 and enjoyed a wonderful evening (plus dinner and breakfast) at the Chili Line. Deborah (and her staff) runs a very sweet 3-room lodge in conjunction with her restaurant. Deborah took the time to meet us after we arrived and sat down with us during our dinner. We enjoyed a most relaxing and pleasant overnight stay . . . it was a great (and convenient) stay-over between Chama and Taos.

I really enjoyed my stay at Deborah’s. Her whole crew was very welcoming and warm, the place was cute and spacious. I rolled in during a storm so I didn’t get to explore the area like I wanted to, but the views I saw were gorgeous. It’s very high altitude so I recommend preparing yourself for that- drink water in excess and bring some pain pills for the pressure at night. Would stay again!

Where to go

Carson National Forest

Carson National Forest covers more than 2,000 square miles of pristine wilderness areas and mountains like Wheeler Peak—the highest elevation in the state at 13,161 feet. Hikers can traverse the Continental Divide Trail to glimpse Chimney Rock, one of the most unique geological features of the forest. Other attractions include Williams Lake, the Georgia O’Keefe cabin, and Echo Amphitheatre. Then stay in campsites in and near the forest that offer basic amenities like full restrooms and water and electrical hookups.

Middle Fork Lake

Though Red River is home to more than 20 lakes, Middle Fork Lake is often regarded as one of the most beautiful. The lake’s beauty makes it a popular destination in all four seasons, particularly with its golden autumn foliage and blankets of snow during winter.
