The property is in the agricultural village of El Guique just north of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, where indigenous settlements have existed for many centuries due to rich soil, proximity to the Rio Grande and Chama rivers. While we are in a rural area, you will be 10 min north of the town of Espanola and 5 min from the Ohkay Owingeh rest stop (with a great El Parasol Norte takeaway restaurant- don't miss their tacos!). It's easy to run to Espanola's Wal-Mart, Lowes or other stores if you forgot anything or need to purchase supplies. In terms of the campsite, our 5 acre property is a narrow agricultural strip that extends from the irrigation acequia (ditch) at the top of the dirt road down into a dense bosque (forest), ending in a path to the Rio Grande. The campsite is in the bosque (forest) a little distance from our house in the privacy of the cottonwoods and elms. At this time we do not have other campsites sharing the space so you will be camping by yourself and have the bathroom to yourself. It is a short walk from the camp to the Rio Grande where you'll find stairs to the river. The river is wade-able in the late summer but in winter/spring the currents are strong and not advisable for young children or non-swimmers. You and your family are welcome to walk back to our farm to interact with goats, chickens, and our friendly dogs, use the playground, or swing on the large swing by the pond. This property is at its best Summer through mid Fall when all is green, the pond is full and river is calmer. Winter camping is still doable but may include snow, a frozen pond, and leafless trees, as well as visiting sandhill cranes. The site is spacious, has a firepit with a cover. We can supply wood if you need it (just text us). In summer we have mosquitos being so close to river so come prepared with some serious sprays or creams- citronella candles and herbal stuff won't be effective here. You will have a lot of privacy in the bosque, and it is relatively quiet from urban noise. But you will be in agricultural country, so you will hear sounds of roosters, horses, goats, peacocks as well as our neighbors doing their thing in the farm land all around you. There can be dogs barking so if any of this noise bothers you at night you will want to bring earplugs.

The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet. For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source. The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch. We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion. We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others. I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You have access to miles of walkable dirt roads right from the door, and there are trails to BLM land nearby. 10 minute drive from access to the Rio Grande Gorge, and an easy 25 minute drive into Taos Ski Valley for snow fun and hiking. 15 min north of downtown Taos. The cabin is divided into two sides. One side is a bedroom/bathroom suite with a comfortable queen size bed and a bathroom (with an awesome standing shower). On the other side, separated by an exterior door, you'll find a cozy space for dining and relaxing, a couch (with a small fold-out mattress), and a kitchenette. This means you move from the living room/kitchenette to the bedroom/bathroom by walking outside under the covered patio. While it's a bit unusual, we really enjoy it, and so do 99% of our guests. If you like being outdoors, and enjoy having separate areas for sleeping vs hanging out and cooking, you'll enjoy it too. The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, a large double sink, an electric cooktop, varied coffee supplies, and all the essential cooking amenities. No need to run to the store just for basics like salt, pepper, or oil. Plus some less basic items, like a variety of Trader Joes spices + emergency snacks. The Blackstone outdoor griddle is a versatile cooking amenity, where you can make a full breakfast spread, delicious fajitas, and really anything in between. This is a somewhat remote high desert area, with all that entails. There are birds, bugs, and lots of other wildlife around. You may hear coyotes singing late at night or early in the morning. The last 1.5 miles of the drive are on a maintained dirt road. You don't need 4WD or a lifted vehicle to get here, although you may need it for other areas of Taos. The guest cabin shares the 10 acres with the main house, where we live. If we're out of town, other guests may be staying in the main house. The cabin and house are well separated by both a large garage and latilla privacy fences. The cabin is dog friendly, as we have two of our own and know the challenges of traveling with dogs.

Learn more about this land: This unique cultural experience in a spectacular setting is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation off the high road to Taos. Grass pasture/orchard farm with private river - in Cundiyo, NM - 24 miles North of Santa Fe, NM on highway 84/285 and highway 503. Cundiyo is a unique, secluded Northern New Mexico farming community. 18-acre farm -classic western freestone stream runs through the property, and we own both sides of river for approx. 1/2 mile. A series of grass pastures/meadows are flood irrigated from the river via traditional Acequias. There are sturdy footbridges over the creek. Fruit trees and grass, glades of oak trees and stands of cottonwood. The banks of the creek are shaded by Alder and Willow trees. There is a simple treehouse and a zipline near one young orchard. By the river is a simple, old A-frame, log cabin that has a porch for shade/cot sleeping. Composting toilets (2) on property. Farm enjoys quiet and privacy, occupying its own stretch of the river valley from ridge to ridge. The river runs year-round and has excellent trout fishing. There are horses on the property, and frequent sightings of turkeys, riperian birds, coyotes, snakes, deer and bears. Incredible mountain and river views. Nearby hiking, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking. All roads to and through property are rough, 4WD roads. Property is boundary fenced. Canyon walls are very steep and impressive, having bouldering and rock climbing features. The canyon is so private you cannot see another light at night. No highway noise. Spectacular in all seasons. Welcome to the little guest cabin on the mesa. Simple. Cozy. Quiet. Clean. Everything you need and little that you don't. Everyone's most loved feature is the expansive covered patio, with wide-open westward views over the Rio Grande Gorge. Perfect for outdoor lovers who need a comfy adventure base. Close to skiing, hiking, rafting, mountain biking, hot air balloons, and more. Solid wifi for remote work. Coyote Cabin sits on 10 acres just north of Taos, on a property shared with the main house. You have access to miles of walkable dirt roads right from the door, and there are trails to BLM land nearby. 10 minute drive from access to the Rio Grande Gorge, and an easy 25 minute drive into Taos Ski Valley for snow fun and hiking. 15 min north of downtown Taos. The cabin is divided into two sides. One side is a bedroom/bathroom suite with a comfortable queen size bed and a bathroom (with an awesome standing shower). On the other side, separated by an exterior door, you'll find a cozy space for dining and relaxing, a couch (with a small fold-out mattress), and a kitchenette. This means you move from the living room/kitchenette to the bedroom/bathroom by walking outside under the covered patio. While it's a bit unusual, we really enjoy it, and so do 99% of our guests. If you like being outdoors, and enjoy having separate areas for sleeping vs hanging out and cooking, you'll enjoy it too. The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, a large double sink, an electric cooktop, varied coffee supplies, and all the essential cooking amenities. No need to run to the store just for basics like salt, pepper, or oil. Plus some less basic items, like a variety of Trader Joes spices + emergency snacks. The Blackstone outdoor griddle is a versatile cooking amenity, where you can make a full breakfast spread, delicious fajitas, and really anything in between. This is a somewhat remote high desert area, with all that entails. There are birds, bugs, and lots of other wildlife around. You may hear coyotes singing late at night or early in the morning. The last 1.5 miles of the drive are on a maintained dirt road. You don't need 4WD or a lifted vehicle to get here, although you may need it for other areas of Taos. The guest cabin shares the 10 acres with the main house, where we live. If we're out of town, other guests may be staying in the main house. The cabin and house are well separated by both a large garage and latilla privacy fences. The cabin is dog friendly, as we have two of our own and know the challenges of traveling with dogs.

Come stay a while at Casas de Indigo Graneria! We have two neighboring sheltered spaces 20' wide by 24' deep where you can shelter your rig from direct sun and weather. We are located close to all the offerings of the area: to the south is the infamous Rio Grande river where you can have either a mellow float or brave a ride down class III/IV rapids. To the north is Taos Ski Valley, home of world class terrain. In between are epic hikes, numerous galleries and unique shops, delicious food, and culture--Taos truly is a little slice of heaven. Our half-acre space overlooking the Rio Grande del Ranchos offers a more private, scenic and peaceful environment than the typical recreational vehicle parks. Please reach out if you are interested in a long-term stay. We would be glad to find some folks with the right vibe to stay for the winter!

The Mountain view from our site was gorgeous at sunset and sunrise. Also, guests are given access to a beautiful and well-maintained bath house. This is definitely a place of peace. I will always be back. All the campsites are very far from each other which is something that I like. It's just a nice piece of property. They have done well

Pat was responsive to all our questions before and during our stay, and we appreciated her flexibility. Our concern about a gas smell turned out to be an unlit pilot light on the stove, and that was easily remedied. We also wondered if a silo would be drafty--but it wasn't. We were there in early October, and the view of the surrounding Chama River Valley was beautiful. We loved the Silo and would stay there again!

Beautiful and very accommodating campground! The peaceful setting, breathtaking night sky views, and well-maintained campsites made for a perfect weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. We loved the complimentary amenities: including water, charcoal grill, grilling utensils, and an over-the-fire grill. Each site even had its own individual well-maintained portable restroom instead of shared facilities. The amazing firepit added the perfect camping ambiance. The location, views, and thoughtful details made this stay truly memorable.

This is our idea of a perfect campsite! Beautiful setting and very quiet. It is quite secluded and yet town is only a short distance away if needed. Landon and Kendra were available to answer any questions that we had. The property has so much to see and do and great places to hike. We enjoyed ourselves so much and will definitely be back!
