Over 26 acres of woods for you to choose where and how you would like to set up camp. There is only one reservation allowed at a time, so the entire property is yours to enjoy. There is an established campsite at the back of the property that is a 0.18 mile walk from the end of the driveway. Or you can set up camp anywhere you’d like! This property sits off of a very quiet back round with limited traffic. This property connects to over four thousand acres of State Land that can be explored as you please. Fourteen miles of hiking trails offer magnificent views of the mountains and scenic Mountain Lake. The UACNJ Observatory at Jenny Jump is a short drive, or a nice hike, from the property where free lectures and observing are open to the public every Saturday evening from April through October. The famous Shades of Death Road and Ghost Lake are also a short drive from the campsite.

This campsite provides a great location to use as a base for day hikes. The tent site is situated beneath a canopy of two large Red Oak trees. This property was formerly a farm and has since grown back to a pioneer Hardwood Forest. There are stone rows throughout the farm and some areas that have been cleared of invasive vegetation and planted with native grasses to enhance the deer population.
We suggest day hikes such as Catfish Fire Tower, Van Campen's Glen, and Buttermilk Falls. Here's a list of our recommendations for hiking, fishing, and just plain old exploring:
The Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area (DWG) and nearby Walpack Fish and Wildlife Management Area in Layton have many hiking trails (See the National Park Service's website). Great areas for sightseeing, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting.
Buttermilk Falls, (trailhead on) Mountain Road in Layton. Hike to the top of the beautiful waterfalls near Walpack and take a 6.8 mile loop trail to Crater Lake.
Walpack Inn, National Park Service Rd 615, Layton. A beautiful restaurant with an entire back wall of windows with a view of the Kittatinny Valley. The Walpack is open on weekends for dinner only.
Appalachian Trail (AT). Check out the AMC Mohican Outdoor Center located along the trail in Blairstown. The AT runs through the DWG. \
Long Pine Pond amp; Crater Lake in Walpack. Both are spring fed and great for swimming and boating (clear water).
Van Campen's Glen, Old Mine Road, Hardwick. The 2.1 mile loop trail features several cascades and waterfalls, a narrow stone valley, and a lush hemlock ravine.
Catfish Fire Tower, Millbrook Road, Hardwick. A rocky 2.0 or longer 4.4 mile hike to the top of the ridge. Great views on NJ and PA.

Delaware River- Great for swimming, boating, tubing, canoeing, fishing. Keep your eye out for Bald Eagles!

Would definitely come again! The site was beautiful. The fire pit, benches, and lights in the tree were so cozy and peaceful. We saw the second site and was amazed! We loved walking around, Shawn was always available if we needed to call or anything. It was so quiet and far away from people and still had service. We really enjoyed our time.

The upper site is beautiful. Plenty of secluded space with good hammock trees around a good, established fire pit. There's a little loop trail a little uphill from the site for an easy ~ 1/2 mile hike. We were pretty careful with food and trash cleanup, and had no critter visitors. Pleasant!
That upper site is fairly easy access with enough clearance. Most SUVs could drive up just fine, right up to the site, but probably not most cars. It's only about a 5 minute walk up from easy parking though, if needed. I'll say the drive was a little overgrown and could use a trim so as not to scratch the paint, so if I came back I'd want to bring a hedge trimmer. There is a lower site too but we didn't spend time there, and it didn't look nearly as inviting.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Twin Oaks. Stephen and Carol are amazing and gracious hosts. Their property offers great amenities and is a fantastic launching point for great hiking, eateries and wineries. Best Hipcamp we have visited!! 5⭐️➕You are close to the Delaware Water Gap. A must hike is Van Campens Glen.

We loved camping here (even in the rain)! Our kids had a blast climbing the big rocks around the firepit, and the trees on the land were beautiful. The campsite provided the perfect amount of privacy while containing everything we needed (flat spot for our tent, a picnic table, and a pit toilet a short walk away). Thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back soon!

I love this site. This was our second year coming back to Sean's place. And there were some small upgrades from last year that were lovely. They built a bench around the fire which was helpful for extra seating and for putting out some cooking gear. They also added some little lights to the trees to make it feel cozy. There are plenty of flat spots for your tent and it is super quiet so it gives the feeling of true wilderness camping without being out of cell range. Hard to find a spot that quiet anywhere else in the area. Its a 10 minute drive to Jenny Jump State park and we attended their Saturday night astrology lectures that they do from April to October. Great place to camp out for a few nights.

We had an amazing weekend under the shade tree at Brendan’s. He was incredibly accommodating, and the land was beautiful from sunrise to sunset. It felt perfectly secluded yet still only 10 minutes from town. My only regret was not bringing my fishing pole!

My brothers and I hiked the Delaware water gap and stayed here. It was a great experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful outdoor experience

Beautiful, quiet and secluded site. Lovely, respectful, warm hosts who make you feel welcome and then leave you alone 😊. Plenty of wood, water, and a nice outdoor toilet. Lots of hiking in the immediate area - and a hammock for a blissful afternoon nap.

I loved tent camping on Steven's property! There was a perfect space cleared out to set up tents. The fire pit was already partially lit and the site had plenty of chopped wood for us to use. Water for cleaning hands/dishes was provided. The outhouse was clean and provided just enough privacy. There was a large cozy hammock and trees for us to hang our own hammocks. The property was large enough to walk around and explore. Although the owners had a house on the property, it was far enough away to not feel like you're in someone's backyard. Would camp here again.

It was exactly what we needed. It was peaceful. It was beautiful and it was everything that was promised. It seems like we had a fire going the whole time that we were there. Stephen couldn’t have been nicer. He came by one day mid morning to check on us and to restock the area. Had a very nice conversation. He was genuinely interested in our trip and wanted to make sure that we had a great time. At the same time while we had a full and complete conversation with him, he didn’t stay too long nor did we feel that his visit was ever unwelcome. We’ll definitely be back.
