We are located just a two-minute drive off I-90, but in those two minutes, the sounds of cars are replaced by the rustling of ponderosas and the water of Rock Creek that is just a minute's walk from your campsite and home to world-renowned fly fishing. Ekstrom’s Stage Station is a collection of historic log buildings reassembled along Rock Creek that functions as a campground today. The sites are situated in a large grassy meadow surrounded by tall pine trees and are quaint and quiet, comfortably accommodating RVs up to 55′ in length. In addition to the happy campground, we have two lovely tiny houses, a pair of rustic cabins, and a hundred-year-old schoolhouse available for your stay. I want you to have the privacy and the experience as if it was only you and you’re family staying. This 53 acres use to be owned by a guy named John Helberg which is who the road is named after. It’s the original homestead land dated over 100 years ago where they farmed for there dairy cows and other livestock. This is right off a dead end road. You will have a view of a Montana farm field with the Rocky Mountains in the background. Dark nights out of the town means the stars will be out and about! This is a quiet secluded area there is a house near by, he is an older gentlemen you won’t even know he’s there. Depending on time of year there will be a field full of crop or the farm getting farmed. There very well could be some horses near by to pet!! Located 10 minutes from the lakes. 5 minutes from a reservoir. 10 minutes from town. 15 min to closest hiking areas. Helena really is the heart of fun very centralized for all directions of fun! Very easy pull in and pull out area. Please not there may be other campers enjoying as well Black Sandy State Park and Helena National Park are both under 15 miles away. Enjoy hiking and If you’re the boating type, head down the Missouri river in search of a rumored rope swing or jump off the boat for a dip in the crystal waters of Hauser Lake. Looking to avoid all the crowds or enjoy a solitary weekend under the endless Montana sky? Just head to Black Sandy during the winter months! You’ll find the same great stunning views and an ice skating experience that will put your grandparents’ childhood tales to shame. I do have power 50 amp, fresh water, grey water hook up, no black water. This option may not be available all of the time. Nearby is a brown shop this is area is rented out and off limits to camp stayers. The patio area on shop is not for the hipcampers thank you

This 6 acre property is perfectly situated to accommodate lake fun, river boating and just 10 minutes to all the conveniences of Helena. The RV site has plenty of space to bring you boat for a perfect summer camp out with the family and tons of access to multiple bodies of water within minutes of the property, and the Causeway Chalet Bar n’ Grill is within walking distance. There is a tiny house on site which can also be rented, otherwise you will have the place to yourself.

Appreciated the power hookup. Was close to the road to the lake and there was a fair amount of traffic heading that way. Down by the lake was a dump station ($5). Also only 15 minutes to Helena. There is no water and the RV spot is not level but workable. besides a tiny rental home you get it to yourself. Oh but there is a trail cam on the tree by the RV spot so no peeing on his trees. What a great hipcamp spot. Stayed there twice on a cross country trip. Larry is a friendly, warm and welcoming host. Great quiet spot surrounded by foothills and pretty views. On the return trip, his young daughter walked over, introduced herself and we had a great chat. When she left, she handed us a wonderful gift, a bag of Huckleberry taffy! Will definitely visit again!

The site was a simple water and electric site, just as pictured. The site is really close to the dam and state park, and it has a nice partial view into the valley. It is also quiet and private, though there is a tiny cabin on the property that may be occupied during your stay.

Private, close to great fly fishing and Missoula. The meadow was super peaceful and the spot was nice. Our dogs loved being able to roam free around the area. Larry was very nice and gave good recommendations on things to do in the area and where to fish. We would definitely come back and stay here again.

Larry is a fantastic host. He personally welcomed us and assisted us in getting situated. He went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of and even gave me a call in the evening to let me know of an approaching storm (in case we were inside and would miss out on the lightning show). It was a great stay!

This spot was ideal for taking a break from our drive. It was very convenient to get there from I-90. The camping spot was easy to access towing our 27 ft. Airstream as were the hook ups. The location is on a big plot of land partway up a hill the view was of a meadow and hills in the distance. Larry was helpful and available for questions. And to cap it off, we were greeted by a friendly young girl with huckleberry taffy.

Amazing site and host! We stayed two days/nights and Larry was the most wonderful host - he went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable with so many suggestions for sites to see that weren’t in any brochures. Tons and tons of room for dogs to roam off-leash - just absolutely beautiful!! Would (and definitely will) stay again!!

This is a great quiet spot to stay. It's just off a dirt road with very little traffic. There are beautiful pines and none of the sounds of the city. Greg was very accommodating. We would stay again without question!

Larry's land is open and quiet. One is alone without being lonely and with the charm of a railroad horn far in the distance. Nicer folks cannot be found with lots to do nearby.
