Previously a 100 acre century farm, this fertile land was tended to by generations of old time farmers. Their dairy cows pastured in areas which we now graze sheep.  The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects.The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. They keep busy planting/tending trees, making hay, moving fence for grazing animals, operating a farm business called Twin Folk Farms (pastured meat, camps, etc), and raising their families.Learn more about this land:- This site is at the edge of a restored quarry, sheep pasture, and wooded hillside.- The site is tucked down a flat mowed path, so it feels very private and protected. - You can hike up a path to the sheep pasture. Sometimes sheep are there, sometimes elsewhere on the farm. You can hike the other direction and check out the restored quarry. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore.- You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles.- There's a Mississippi river boat launch a few miles down the road, so feel free to park your boat at the bottom of the quarry driveway.- The Hay Creek riding trails are 25 minutes away, so contact us if you want to set up a place in the quarry to park your horses and trailer for the night. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. You can also set up a time to come up to the farm and purchase meat. - The beautiful, historic town of Red Wing is 10 minutes from our farm. We have a lovely piece of property to come enjoy a getaway at. We enjoy all of the peace and quiet around here. The night sky is unbeatable in my eyes. We have a small hobby farm with lots of very tame animals. We have 42 acres to roams with lots of trails within the woods that are filled with aged oak trees and many young maple trees. Our property is filled with lots of wild flowers and wildlife. We are locate 3 miles from the root river if you enjoy fishing or going for a float down the river. There are two caves in our area that are a must see while you are visiting. I you like to hike there is a state park 14 minutes from us that have many miles of hiking trails and horse trails. If you are more the small town strolling type of person we have lots of small towns around us that are filled with shops and lots of great food! There is a large system of bike trails in our area that make a very fun way to check out some of the small towns. If you have a family with kids we have a lot of fun activities you can do with your kids, like spending time with the goats and chickens, playing on our playground, or taking a nice walk through the woods looking for fossils! He is very curious and will undoubtedly come to visit. If you bring a pet, we ask that it remain leashed, as we have chickens on the property. We’re a short drive from Class 1 trout streams, including the Kinnickinnic and Rush River. If you prefer to stay on the farm, the shack features a writing desk and an outdoor porch table—perfect for when inspiration strikes. There is no Wi-Fi, but there is an AT&T tower nearby for data connection. Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint users may have limited service. A small fridge, French press, hot plate, fresh water, and basic utensils are available. Peony Power Farm is my new business, where I am in the process of planting and cultivating peonies for the cut flower market. For sleeping accommodations we have the main "owners" bedroom with a queen bed, the secondary bedroom has 2 twin beds. In the living room, the sofa has a pull-out queen mattress made of quality memory foam and bedding. In addition to or if preferred, we also have a Queen size double high air mattress with built in pump and also a twin double high mattress with built in pump and all bedding. The Loft at Strawberry Hill provides its guests fresh towels, linens, and many other necessities such as dish soap, dishwasher/laundry tabs, shampoo etc. Other things to note Balconies on both ends to enjoy beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Many trails for walking. Afton Alps resort and Afton State Park close by. Private fire pit and Adirondack chairs on premises for our guests outdoor use. Great restaurants in quaint downtown Hudson 8 min. away and historic Stillwater 15 min. away. For bed setup. We can sleep 6 comfortably or more depending on if the queen beds are shared. There is one queen bed in bedroom #1. Bedroom #2 has 2 twin beds. Then we have 2 nice tall inflatable mattresses with built in pumps and all needed bedding that set up in the living room. We brought our two kids (21 months and 2 months) and had a blast with the goats! They were right next to the camp. We had snores for the first time here. The cabin was perfect, and Cathy ran up a couple of battery powered portable fans for the heat of the day. Easily our favorite Hipcamp we’ve ever been to! Location was great too at 10-15 min away from Lanesboro for lunch.

The cabin is lovely, secluded and we were lucky to have a clear night for stargazing. The toilet inside is fantastic, especially for those of us a little older. Kitchen is stocked with basics, great coffee and there is a cooler to keep your perishables. My only con was the hike up to the cabin, but again, I’m old. Darla did send someone to help haul stuff up when I called.

The green cabin was the perfect retreat for our family (2 kids + 2 dogs). The creek crossing plus the hike up the hill was a little bit of work to get all the gear across, but well worth it for the spacious and private site. Water was a little high early in the season so water shoes or wet boots were a must. All round very memorable trip.

Overall amazing site. River is clear, secluded and beautiful. Only downside I would say is that the main front door doesn’t lock. Although the screen door does it was definitely a worry through the night. Great service. Great price. Love this place so much and we had a blast!

The amenities were in perfect condition and the host was extremely responsive and kind. My only qualm it was so close to roads and didn’t feel fully immersed in nature. Beautiful space! Many times pictures make a place look pretty, but you get there and everything is flimsy. Not here! The couches and bed were very comfortable, the kitchen was very well stocked etc. We stayed in winter, so didn't explore the grounds too much, but could see there was a lot to do.

These cabins are perfect for a winter get away! Watching the first snow of the year come down while comfy on the porch was incredible! It is close to the road, but the traffic generally sounds far off and ambient in the background. The cabins are warm, the bunk beds are fun even if you’re grown ups, and the windows on the ceiling are incredible for watching snowfall. The hiking around this area is incredible! We really appreciated the quick response and availability of a cabin short notice. Another place had double booked and cancelled our booking a few days before our intended night away and Chelsi really came through and saved our Thanksgiving week!

Sonder Schoolhouse was such a beautiful place to stay for the weekend! Super quaint and had everything we needed & we loved how secluded it was while also being close to the Twin Cities. The host was also reliable and available for any questions. The only downside - there were a lot of flies inside that could be annoying at times.

Weekend Trip to Belle Creek Bluff

Such a beautiful location, we felt so secluded! We saw deer, an eagle and a little downy woodpecker gave us a show on a tree just outside the screened in porch which was a favorite spot for our morning coffee and to listen to the rain. So peaceful . The water crossing was indeed a challenge with glacier cold water I decided to take a wrong step on a slippery rock and do a face plant in the cold water! With pretty much only my pride hurt (and a video my hubby happened to be taking of me at the time) it definitely made a memorable trip! We would definitely come back! And I were not to step now! ;)
