Heritage Hills isn't called Heritage Hills for nothing! It's situated on 21 acres of what was the original Wawonowin Country Club, a 9-hole golf course that was built in the early 1800s and then closed in the mid 1960s. And now we have a beautiful mix of hardwoods and pines, forests and fields with multiplied non-motorized trails accessible right off the property. The very popular RAMBA bike trails are literally an ‘stones throw’ away! Our biggest site, Fairway Field is big enough for group camping that horse campers love, and one site, the Homestead, with an electric hookup. We don’t have a dump station or trash cans so please pack in and pack out.
Phone signal is good throughout the area and we are close to civilization for necessities and only 20 minutes from Marquette. So much stuff to do in this area!

Northern Oasis Camping

Our property is located between Marquette and Negaunee, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We are 7 miles from downtown Marquette, 8 miles from the shores of beautiful Lake Superior and 53 miles from Pictured Rocks National Park. We are about 4 miles off of US 41 nestled in a quiet forest like setting. 

We built our home here in 2019 and are continually making improvements to the land.   We tap our trees for maple syrup in the spring-you will drive by our "sugar shack" and raise chickens in our very nice coop -no roosters to awaken you!  

Come and enjoy some peace and quiet at our Northern Oasis!

There is guest internet but its patchy in camping area-better closer to the house and large firepit area

There is a charcoal grill near communal firepit area.  

We are near 2 river basins(McClure Basin and Dead River Basin) for fishing, swimming and boating ( kayaks and canoe for rent on this  site-see extras! ) We are on the route of the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike epic and not far from the North Country Trail. 

We have options of open sites and a couple more private wooded sites. There are at least two areas  for small campers and several choices for tents and/or hammocks.. 

There is a communal/central fire pit, picnic table area as well as a larger fire pit with picnic table closer to house. We have nice  fire wood available on site -see "extras" or for purchase when you get here! 

There are yard games,  extra chairs and a small table in the red shed. This can also be used as a storm shelter if needed!

There is  a "port-a-john" on site- extra TP is kept in red shed hanging on nail in a bag. Please let us know if this needs attention. 

Short two track for stretching legs or walking dogs- please clean up any dog “messes”!

Welcome to our hidden oasis in the woods! This campsite is in a beautiful meadow surrounded by maple forest in the heart of the UP. It is very rustic with no power or water but does have an outhouse. Site also has a weather shelter if needed.

Enjoy the quiet and peaceful noises of nature. The area is abundant in wildlife and birds, dark starry skies, and beautiful trees that will be vibrant in the fall. If you like it quiet, dark at night and no city lights this is for you! VERY secluded. This site is under an hour to Marquette, Munising's Picture Rocks National Lakeshore and Escanaba.

Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground!

We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.” 

In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.

Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! 

Thank you for choosing us and allowing us to be part of the memories that you create here. We know that you work hard for your own money, as we do. These RV sites are located in a wooded area on the West Side of AuTrain Lake! Each RV site has full electric hookup, sewer, water, wifi, picnic table, firepit and chairs! The RV sites are drive through making this a relaxing stay! Just 2.5 miles from Lake Superior and 15 miles from Munising and the start of the Pictured Rocks Shoreline! You will be able to kick back and relax! The adventures are all around in this centrally located area!

Christmas Campsites 1 & 2

Located in Christmas, which is less than 5 miles west of Munising, the beginning of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We have one campsite with an RV on it that we rent out and then we have a campsite right next to our camper than you can bring your own RV to. We have a hose for water and offer a 30A or 50A electric hook up for your camper at our campsite. Our camper can sleep up to 3 people and we are dog friendly for one dog up to 50lbs. Our camper is a one bedroom with a queen bed and then a twin futon in the living area for an additional guest.

Northern Lights & Firefly Nights

This is a fun, solar-lit RV "Glamping" site for up to a 30 ft self-contained w/toilet camper; site is located in Rock, MI. Max 4 campers. The RV site makes a great homebase if you are adventure seeking in the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Rock is 34 miles from Escanaba and 46 miles from Marquette.  Both cities offer great restaurants, unique breweries, art galleries, hiking, biking, and kayaking rivers and lakes. 

The site is approx. 5 mi away from access to the Escanaba River for kayaking/tubing/trout fishing (you need your own equipment). Ride your utv right from the site taking the county roads/2 rut roads out to the river for a nice ride or have fun playing in the mud right after the rain:) Play at your own risk!

There is a convenience store for gas, beer, wine, food and the necessities located 4 miles away along with a local restaurant/bar.

The RV site offers a unique experience with all of its solar lighting to glamp up your camping experience in the woods. Take the time to connect with nature, enjoy the outdoor firefly dining, take a nature walk, a nap in a hammock, do outdoor yoga, listen to the birds, and/or maybe you'll get a glimpse of the "Northern Lights". Rest, relax and rejuvenate. Wifi is sketchy. A pet is allowed on a leash; other dog is on property. Pickup dog waste.

An outdoor kitchen fully stocked w/cooking gear:  tri-pod grilling, utensils, pots and pans.

Trash receptacle can be found  the site. Fire ring is cleaned after each visitor; a $20 fee will be charged for glass, cans or nails found in the fire ring.

Bear Lake Meets da Yellow Dog

Your host property is 13 acres between the Yellow Dog River, and Bear Lake, with frontage on both.  The Yellow Dog River is a legendary trout stream, and many artists have found that the river satisfies their need for the wild.  There are two cabin sites available, One overlooking Bear Lake with sunset views, and the other a cabin that was moved to the property in 1999 to preserve it.

Both sites share amenities such as the outhouse, communal fire pit and water, but the cabins are not in close proximity so everyone has their privacy.  They are both rustic cabins having no running water, or electricity.  A futon with mattress cover is provided in each cabin along with a table and chairs.  See the individual site descriptions for more details.

We are 20 miles (app) north of Marquette, which is my home town.&nbsp; It is a destination for bikers, skiiers, and outdoor rec folk!&nbsp; There are so many things to see and do in Marquette, so make sure to plan enough time to check out the town!&nbsp; Also, just six miles to our north is historic Big Bay.&nbsp; A lumber town back in the day, it is full of history.&nbsp; Check out the Thunder Bay Inn, where parts of Anatomy of a Murder, starring Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick were filmed.&nbsp; Don't miss going to the Lumberjack to see where the actual murder took place, either!&nbsp; You will find good eats and perhaps even some live music at either establishment.&nbsp;You'll also find everything you need in the way of groceries, and gas at Cram's General Store, where there's also a laundromat.&nbsp; Burns landing just north of the marina has the historic Burns family home renovated in a park setting, and a public beach access to mighty Lake Superior.&nbsp; This park has picnic tables and grills, and even a handicap accessible outhouse and trail to the lake. 

Yellow Dog falls is a short drive on Co. Road 510, and on the way be sure to climb Thomas Rock overlook.&nbsp; There are new bike trails if you're into that as well!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Stay awhile.&nbsp; You'll be glad you did!

We strive to offer peace and serenity to our guests, and love to share these woods with those needing tranquility and respite from a busy world.  In this sensitive environmental area, we have only two sites to keep traffic down, enhance our visitors experience, and to protect the wildlife here.

Bear Tree Homestead

 Bear Tree Homestead is nestled among the cliffs and ravines which drains the south face of Hogback Mountain located in Marquette Township Michigan.
 Hogback Mountain is one of the larger rock formations in the Huron Range, a surprisingly rugged, and diverse region of low mountains carved by glaciers.
Each cabin is hand-built of log and stone using traditional Scandinavian building tools and techniques. The cabins have access to the pond, use of the canoe, a private fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill and privy.  Inside the cabins is a functional kitchen with dishes,  flatware,  pots and pans, so you can prepare meals onsite.  Cabins also have table and chairs  as well soft chairs/sofa sitting area, bookshelves with a variety of books, board games and puzzles, and covered porch in case of rain.   
Our buildings, gardens, and pastures are integrated into the forested landscape and are not your typical homestead.  Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, collect fresh eggs (when they are laying), lay in the hammock, listen to the sounds of nature and the barnyard or take an adventure hike, bike ride, snowshoe, or ski right out the door.&nbsp;
One of the most wonderful things we have to offer is the accessibility to thousands of protected acres surrounding us and the trails that bisect them. The property is on the North Country Trail, just over a Noquemanon Trail Network Forestville trailhead where access to year round recreation awaits.  Hogback Mountain is just up the trail from the cabin with spectacular views of forest, mountains and lake superior.
We are located 8 miles from downtown Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where there are many great restaurants, shops, and brewpubs.
However, once you drive into Bear Tree Homestead and settle in you will not want to leave.

Hemlock Ridge Homestead

Welcome to the Hemlock Ridge Homestead! This custom log home built in the early 2000's was a dream of mine since I was 8 years old. Our family lives here year round and absolutely love it. These sites are on a seasonal road so travel in and out can be impeded at times due to weather or external forces, such as tree falls, wash outs, etc. This is a self sufficient homestead in the making. Our garden has progressed greatly, and our fruit tree orchards are starting to produce. The free range chickens are fun and quirky, offering farm fresh eggs. We just opened our second site, the Prairieview Chalet 2024 summer. Both sites offer great amenities. The Acorn Retreat cabin includes a hot tub, gas weber grill and other amenities. The boujee outhouse is shared by both sites and is cleaned regularly.

The new Prairieview Chalet is an exceptional adventurers haven! It has all the things you want after a day(s) out in the wilderness, with amenities like a hot shower, fully stocked kitchen, linens and more.

Our property reflects our love of the land and space.  We are always making improvements, such as the timber framed chicken coop. We now have a ping pong table for our guests, and still offer farm fresh eggs.

Our motto is to make every place better than we found it and hope our guests will do the same.
