Enjoy a peaceful and affordable escape just minutes from Lake Huron with this one-acre private campsite in Au Gres, Michigan. When you book, you get the entire property to yourself—no other campers. The space is clearly marked with pink boundary flags and includes three roomy areas perfect for pitching tents, parking an SUV, or setting up a small campervan. Pop-up campers can fit, but space is tight and better for simple setups.
The front of the property is grassy and open, while the rear features a wooded section with a short walking path. Behind the site is a larger wooded parcel that isn’t part of the Hipcamp, but it adds to the secluded, natural feel.
Just a 4–5 minute walk brings you to a quiet public access point to Lake Huron. The road dead-ends at private homes, and between them is a public footpath to the beach. Before the shoreline, you'll find a small 20-yard-wide wooded area where our guests can set up chairs and enjoy the view—feel free to walk beyond to the sandy beach as well. While the campsite isn’t totally secluded—there are a few nearby homes and occasional daytime traffic—you’ll still enjoy full privacy on your acre with room to unwind, make a fire, and relax under the stars.
This spot is best for couples or small groups looking for a low-key beach getaway close to nature and just 10 minutes from the shops and restaurants of Au Gres and Tawas City.

The Magic Forest is a beautiful 25 acre property that is a holistic healing center centered around personal and spiritual growth. We tend to our land with respect and care and ask that you do too. We trust you will feel right at home in the peace of our woods.
The Magic Forest is located right across the street from the 4400 acre Rifle River State Recreation area. You can access the park across the street through the canoe port right on the Rifle River, with easy access to fishing, canoeing/kayaking, and trails. Kayak and canoe rental companies are nearby, as well as many lakes in the area with excellent fishing.
We have tent sites available, pull-in RV or camper sites, and very soon will have several tiny homes ready for lodging. Special accommodations can be made for those wanting to kayak or canoe, utilize the wood-fired cedar barrel sauna, or have a campfire. Please contact directly for details.
You can expect to hear the bird song throughout the day, and many other woodland critters as we are surrounded by state land, and are located on a federally protected watershed. It's about as clean as it gets! The area is traversed enough where we do not experience a population of bears or other predators one may be wary of in the woods. Whether you are a hiker, birder, forager, hunter, fisherman, dirt biking, or seeking a serene place to rejuvenate yourself-you have found a location that offers activities for every season.
We do host events on the land such as yoga, sound meditations, retreats, and more. If you happen to stay while an event is occurring, there is a possibility you may be able to join during your stay. Contact directly for details.
Rose City is 10 minutes down the road with access to all general food amenities you may need, as well as restaurants. West Branch is about 25 minutes away with the big box stores as well. Just down the road is Kenyon's Lakeside Resort, a historic Michigan Landmark and excellent restaurant with good food, music, and more. Another excellent must-visit just down the road is Lovewell's corner store, one of the best camp stores (and more) around!!

This peaceful, quiet homestead sits at the end of a dead-end road, bordered on both sides by the Black River and located close to the Atlanta State Forest and other recreational, hunting, and sporting areas in the region.
At the campsite, you’ll find an appreciation for nature and the abundant wildlife that traverses the farm, along with dark skies, starry nights, and even the northern lights. It may remind you of your own family farm or your grandparents’ place up north.
By becoming a guest on the property, you’re helping me accomplish my lifelong dream of restoring the old family homestead and preserving its history.

The Magic Forest is a beautiful 25 acre property that is a holistic healing center centered around personal and spiritual growth. We tend to our land with respect and care and ask that you do too. We trust you will feel right at home in the peace of our woods.
The Magic Forest is located right across the street from the 4400 acre Rifle River State Recreation area. You can access the park across the street through the canoe port right on the Rifle River, with easy access to fishing, canoeing/kayaking, and trails. Kayak and canoe rental companies are nearby, as well as many lakes in the area with excellent fishing.
We have tent sites available, pull-in RV or camper sites, and very soon will have several tiny homes ready for lodging. Special accommodations can be made for those wanting to kayak or canoe, utilize the wood-fired cedar barrel sauna, or have a campfire. Please contact directly for details.
You can expect to hear the bird song throughout the day, and many other woodland critters as we are surrounded by state land, and are located on a federally protected watershed. It's about as clean as it gets! The area is traversed enough where we do not experience a population of bears or other predators one may be wary of in the woods. Whether you are a hiker, birder, forager, hunter, fisherman, dirt biking, or seeking a serene place to rejuvenate yourself-you have found a location that offers activities for every season.
We do host events on the land such as yoga, sound meditations, retreats, and more. If you happen to stay while an event is occurring, there is a possibility you may be able to join during your stay. Contact directly for details.
Rose City is 10 minutes down the road with access to all general food amenities you may need, as well as restaurants. West Branch is about 25 minutes away with the big box stores as well. Just down the road is Kenyon's Lakeside Resort, a historic Michigan Landmark and excellent restaurant with good food, music, and more. Another excellent must-visit just down the road is Lovewell's corner store, one of the best camp stores (and more) around!!

Peterman Farm is a beautiful spot! It's a very peaceful location on a dead-end road with no neighbors near the farmhouse. The views are lovely: rolling hills, beautiful sunsets and visiting deer. This was the perfect place to camp. Don't miss out on this spot!

Exactly what we were looking for! The campsite was secluded, and the area is very well maintained. Cabins are available to rent on Airbnb which worked out great for my FIL who doesn’t have a camper. Bathrooms were clean and cute.. Showers were hot. Yard games were available to use. This has to be one of the best hipcamps we’ve been to! A lot of thought has been put into this, and we are grateful to have experienced it. Thanks Jean!

This is a wonderful spot to camp! The back yard is spacious, with a hammock, wind chimes, fire pit, and table. Behind the back yard are some trails that go deep into the north woods. The host was very gracious, taking time to check in with me while she was travelling out of state.
Also, the beach at Tawas Point just became one of my favorite beaches in Michigan, up there with Oval Beach in Saugatuck and the "secret spot" off Old Freesoil Road in the Manistee National Forest, between Ludington and Manistee, north of Big Sable Point. It is a fascinating little piece of land that sticks down into Tawas Bay.

Enjoyed camping on Jason's land. Lots of elbow room and easy pull in and set up. Nice little bathroom with shower available. Took our bikes into Alpena to ride some of the bike trails there and took a drive in the evenings in the Atlanta area in case we could see some Elk. Also nearby lakes to fish or kayak.

We enjoyed camping with our 32ft toy hauler. Lots of room fairly flat spot and a 50 Amp plug. Beautiful scenery and well groomed trails to walk the dogs. We enjoyed a campfire both nights we stayed. Would use again. A mile from state park so easy to dump there after.

Wendy was good at communicating and provided a suggestion of a local place to stop at. I will likely stop at Wendy's again the next time I'm in the area. I definitely recommend her property!

Located off the paved road, via a gravel lane, is a tranquil and engaging campsite. There are two semi-level, gravel sites available, both of which offer full hookup facilities. It should be noted that the water source is shared between the two sites, with Site B being closer, although a hose of at least 30+ feet in length will be required. Site A is situated further away, approximately 75 feet across the driving path of both sites, making it likely that the hose will be run over. The sewer connection location is ideal, while the electric connection provides 15 or 50 amp options, with a requirement to dog-bone down to 30 amp. 50 ft electric cord was utilized in its entirety.
The sites are gravel and relatively level. A picturesque tree is situated in the middle of the U-shaped driveway, with branches hanging down, requiring caution when maneuvering the trailer. It is possible to enjoy a campfire beneath the tree.
Wendy was a great help. We had a question and she immediately answered it, via phone call. She took the time to call us and explain the water pump operation. Thank you!!!

The hosts were extremely accommodating, allowing us to switch campsites to better fit our needs as well as lending us a heater on a colder-than-expected night.

Jason’s site was exactly as described super clean, clean bathroom and shower right next door also washer and dryer. He left the light on so we could see where we were going. We were able to level the class a Motorhome easily and hook up to the 30 amp power there is also 50% power. It is a lovely quiet spot and we were able to cycle into the town where we had a lovely meal at the diner. Portions are massive and we all left full. This is a great spot and we would love to stay again. Thank you to Jason.

This place was absolutely beautiful. Extremely quiet, very nicely groomed smooth trails. Endless stars. No bugs at all. Spent a few days kayaking, riding my quads a bit (slowly to not hurt anything) and just enjoying nature. Host was nice and responded quickly with any of my questions. I recommend showing up in the day as it is very hard to find at night. (We went in the wrong field the first time because it was pitch black) 😂 definitely recommend this spot for a getaway.

Staying at Linda's was like hanging out with a long-lost friend. She is such a kind, caring and fun soul. Her property is beautiful -- the view of the creek from the top of the hill is amazing. The three camping spots are on the other side of the outbuildings, so there is privacy and plenty of space. There is a nice walking path which winds down the hill and by the creek. I would definitely recommend Linda's place!

This is really a review of the host, because I had a little car trouble and had to turn around, so I haven't been to the site...yet. This spot was so peaceful! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. A bit muddy upon arrival after pouring rain, so parking our 42’ fifth wheel was a bit challenging but doable. With dry packed dirt it would have been easy.
We loved the nearby Ocqueoc Falls and the hosts recommendation to go to the Party Store in Tower for pizza and ice cream was spot on.
