Very private tenting site directly on the St John rivers shore. Lots of wildlife, serenity and privacy. Great fishing spot especially for bass and muskie. Start your day walking on riverside trail, then maybe a kayak journey on the water, and take off for the day on the hundreds of ATV trails! Come enjoy the wilderness, beauty and solace of the most northern part of Maine at our camp "Ursa Minor" Minutes from the Canadian border in Grand Isle, this remote and secluded off-grid comfortable cabin on just under 200 private acres of northern Maine wilderness has beautiful scenic mountain views. It is located along the extensive ATV road system and is completely ATV accessible. It is at the end of a 4 mile gravel road ( which can be rough at times). There is a brook on the property and maintained walking trails. During berry season there are unlimited amounts of berries to pick. This is a sanctuary for wildlife so while pets are allowed, prior permission is needed for the protection of the wildlife that lives here. Off leash pets are at your own risk and please pick up after pets when able. We share the property with moose, bear, deer, fisher cats, coyote, lynx and bobcats. We take the welfare of the wildlife on our property seriously and there is absolutely no hunting or baiting allowed. The cabin is outfitted with solar electricity which is limited but can provide lights, outlets and charging for devices There is propane heat in the camp and a portable outdoor stove camping stove top. Absolutely no candles or smoking in the cabin and all outdoor fires should be limited to the fire pit and fully extinguished after use. There is no wifi at the cabin but most people have good cell signal. There are trail cameras on the property.

Camper Sites were level and open, easy to get the camper in and landed. 30 Amp Power was excellent, water is provided but based on outside cold temps and low pressure, I would fill your on board freshwater tank for better results. Free firewood but bring dry kindling to start your fires with. Great Dump Station to empty your camper prior to departing. Outstanding experience if you are looking to hunt in the North Maine Woods, and you want the finer amenities with your camper rather than boondocking, please give them a look, it is worth it.

We had an amazing stay here. We were met by the owner as we pulled up and he gave us a tour and let us set up wherever it suited us. He was generous with his time and helped us as we were motorcycle camping and needed to repair a bent rim. He also owns the general store next store which is very well stocked.

I really enjoyed staying here exploring the area and learning about the area and hunting season . Troy was an amazing host always checking in to make sure we were situates and happy. The ladies at the trading post were so friendly, welcoming , and helpful. We felt like very welcomed guests!!

Weekend Trip to St John River Front Tenting

This spot was perfect. Private, on the river, peaceful, beautiful. Very dog and people friendly. We have a campervan and were able to fit right in. Even though we were on the river there were few mosquitoes. We were well directed to town to a great brewery with wood fired pizza. Yum! Neat area, but we were just passing through. Will stop by again if we’re in the area.
