Avinger Station RV Park The History of the Station Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998. It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021 after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again. Come enjoy beautiful Lake Bistineau! We are located in a cove with access to the main channel. We have a boat launch on the property for guests to use. The dock is off limits, but you are welcome to fish from the shoreline or bring your own boat/kayak/canoe to launch from our boat launch. From about end of July - February, they drain the lake and you will not be able to launch a boat with a vehicle. You can still get access to the water with a canoe or kayak by walking but the boat launch will not be usable. Lake Bistineau has a Salvania problem, so during March - June, the water is usually pretty clear, good for fishing, swimming and boating. Mid-June and July, there could be enough salvania to make fishing by the shore and swimming not good. During this time, we recommend you have some way to reach deeper water by boat/canoe/kayak/pirouge to enjoy better fishing and swimming. You will see examples of the salvania in the picutres posted.

Phildon was super communicative wven when not on site. Recommended a perfect available pitch and answered all questions quickly. My tip would be to aak for WiFi password before arrival as we had zero signal with Verizon and had to drive out to get supplies and a signal. We did not use the bathrooms or laundry facilities so cannot comment on those. Hook up was 50 amps. Phildon had an 50-30 adaptor if required but we had our own. Lovely little spot in the Bayou.

Nice quiet out of the way campsite with several spots to choose from. Sit and watch the lazy water drift by on the bayou as you listen to the frogs from the backwater creek. This was a peaceful stop for us and the host was accommodating, helpful, and informative. There is a shower house and laundry as well as WiFi, and full hook ups. We highly recommend this site. Easily fit a 35 foot rig. It was surprisingly easy to get to.

This is a gravel parking lot that is sizable, has power hookups, has water hookup, and sewer hookup, and a huge shade tree. This is in the city, so there is traffic constantly by the spot, but it is peaceful enough to get rest if you're traveling through, on the way to somewhere else. Richard was a wonderful host, and actually met me at the spot to make sure that I could get in and situated. It was very appreciated. Since I was parked under the shade tree for the proximity to the power hookup, my starlink barely worked because of the obstruction overhead. This is not the host's fault, it's just how it was, and I'm letting everyone know if you've got Starlink, this may be an impediment to your connection. I got very good directions, and since Richard was present, I was on the phone with him when I pulled in, so everything went smoothly.

This was my second stay at Avinger RV Park. I love the size of the park. I think there are only 14 sites on the property. There are plenty of pull through sites. It is very clean and the full time RVers keep their site clean. There is a weight room, bathroom with shower and FREE washers and dryers. They are renovating the station. I'm sure it will be beautiful once it's complete.
