The Galaxy is a small campground with 8 large spots. It's located outside of Washington, Louisiana where there are no city lights and lots of stars and things in the sky. There is 50-amp electricity with full hook-ups at each site. I have a laundry service and a small dog park. Short term and long term are welcomed. The sunrises and sunsets are exceptional here. WELCOME TO BUTTE LA ROSE, THE HEART OF THE ATCHAFALAYA BASIN AND THE HEART OF ACADIANA:
In the early 1930s when the Army Corps of Engineers carved two long levees right through the Atchafalaya River Basin, what had once been a widely sprawling river system prone to seasonal flooding became a fifteen-mile-wide "spillway" contained between those two earthen walls. The water level in the Basin rose by several feet, permanently flooding many areas, and people who had made their homes there eventually moved to communities on the dry, western side of the levee--Henderson, Catahoula, Bayou Benoit and beyond--leaving no trace of the old settlements behind. Only one community remained. Perched on a ridge along the banks of the Atchafalaya River, Butte La rose is the only community in St. Martin Parish that is still located between the Basin levees. No other place can claim to be the heart of Atchafalaya as credibly as Butte La Rose can. The community is nestled against one of the more winding meanderings of the Atchafalaya River, and residents remain closely tied to the river and other nearby waterways--fishing, crawfishing, frogging and hunting, enjoying bayou-side crawfish boils and pleasure boating. So many waterways surround Butte La Rose--Butte La Rose Canal, Henderson Lake, Lake Begneaux, Lake Pelba--it's as close to an island as you can get without actually being an island.
We are only 3 miles from interstate 10 but we are a small remote camping village.
Many hummingbirds visit here every year. They arrive in March and leave in Sept.

Wow this wonderful place is not only charming but has so much to do around it. Ginny & Scotty are the most wonderful hosts. Ginny has all information for you when you arrive about restaurants, local pubs, 100 yr old store that was a gem. They have a very level spot with a picnic table, Tiki torches and a very nice porch to sit and enjoy getting to know each other. We cant wait to come back.

Awesome site! Very nice and easy access right off the road. We arrived late at night and were able to drive right in and hookup since the host had provided extension connections for all services. Very quiet location and very well maintained. Hosts were very kind and provided us with printed local information for the area as well as a small gift. Would definitely visit again the next time we are in the area!

Absolutely the sweetest hosts we have ever encountered. We ended up with car trouble just before we hit the campsite and they were so kind and helpful. Upon arrival we recieved a brochure highlighting local history and attractions complete with good recommendations and sites to see, and even a welcome gift. We decided to stay an extra night. Hosts are friendly and kind, site it well kept and peaceful, and the setting couldn’t be more lovely.

Renee is a super host! Southern hospitality at its finest! Thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and staying at her property! She let me borrow an adapter and a tarp for my RV. Very quiet and bucolic few acres. I needed propane refill and Renee set me up with a local friend to get some after 2 tries at Uhaul where no one was available to pump. She invited me out for a beer and for a dip in her pool. Would definitely return! Would love to get to know her better!❤️

Everything went excellent. We were just a quick stop over for the night, but campsite and hosts were outstanding. Greeted by camp hosts upon arrival. I can't say enough good things about camp hosts Ginny and Scott. Thoughtfulness, friendliness is first 2 that come to mind. The Atchafalaya Basin area is beautiful and I would like to make a trip back to explore it, and definatley staying at Kickin it in the Butte again! Scotty is a wealth of information on area and gave first rate guidance in navigating New Orleans.
