We're a non profit community garden in the Old Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, a 15 minute drive or ferry ride to the French Quarter. We use the money from these bookings to fund the community food access work that we do. While you're here you can enjoy our peaceful and spacious garden property, and we encourage you to get to know some of the fantastic neighbors who use our community fridge and herb garden. Take the scenic Mississippi River Levee Path 1 mile to get to the Algiers Ferry dock which departs every 30 minutes and drops you off at the foot of Canal Street in the heart of New Orleans. If you have a car you can cross the bridge and get to most of the city in 15 minutes. You can also explore Algiers Point with its many restaurants, bars, local art and historic buildings. The levee trail is a block away, where you can jog, bike, or just watch the boats go by. Property amenities include an open air bathroom and shower, communal screened porch with seating area, propane grill and various pots/pans, cooking gear and tableware, fridge, picnic tables and a small fire pit. There is an herb garden out front and there may be fruits and vegetables available for you, fresh from the garden, depending on the time of year.

This cozy fenced-in spot provides a place to plug in your RV and stay in the Big Easy in a safe, tucked away side yard just minutes from the Bywater, Marigny and French Quarter and a few blocks from the Mississippi River. You can drive, bike, or Uber to hundreds of bars and restaurants in less than 15 minutes. Enjoy your morning coffee on the brick patio and feel free to use the fire pit (fall/winter only) and hammock! Please don't mind Poka, my old and gentle English Shepherd, who may wander around. The description says an acre because it is impossible to put in a smaller number, but the actual parking space is about 25 x 50 ft, with additional hangout space nearby. I am right next door (on the other side of the fence) if you need anything and can help navigate entering and setting up and give you a key to lock the gate with.

We stayed in the RV spot and had a nice time here! We were only here for an evening and left early the next morning, but we felt safe with the gate during the night and the bathroom was convenient and clean! Garden was nice too. Thanks for a good place to stay!

The RV space was premo for my vehicle & gear; there was ample space to pitch a tent and beat the Nola heat. Mark communicated transparently about the space and made accessibility easy. The semi-outdoor bathroom/shower was a nice touch - plenty of hot water with the on demand water heater. Mark & co. were super friendly and gave a lot of insights into the little fabulous cultural tidbits that Nola is full of. Sunday brunch was so much fun! Pelican gardens are such a beautiful forest of food and tropical plants 🌿 this was exactly the greenspace and vibe that I was seeking for camping, all while being a 20 minute walk to the Algiers ferry and close to the French Quarter & downtown. Riding the ferry daily and using the RTA Jazzy pass was a total breeze 🏖

Mark's garden oasis in Algiers neighborhood was perfect for our 2 night stay in NOLA. Great spot for our 20' van, nice bathroom with shower! Super friendly folks, Mark and Antoine. Love the family feel, and close to ferry to get easily to tourist areas. Great value and our stay supports the non profit garden project! Love it!!

I really enjoyed the site, Algiers is a very quiet neighborhood compared to New Orleans. The ferry comes every 30 mins and is about a 10 min boat ride to downtown. I flew in and took an Uber to the tent site with my gear, the porch area is great to chill on and I met a really nice guy woofing on the property. It’s pretty great!

We had an amazing time in New Orleans and it started with Kat's cozy campsite! We were amazed at the beauty of her plants surrounding the seating area. Very peaceful and conveniently close to a lot of the attractions. Already looking forward to staying there again! Had 30 amp electricity and water for our camper. Our camper measures roughly 22ft long by 9ft tall on the edges by 7ft wide for reference.

Beautiful site ! Very quiet area, nice shower\restroom, flourishing garden. I highly recommend. It's near New Orlean's center : 20 min walk in a cute neighborhood, than take a quick ferry ride that brings you downtown for only 2 dollars !

Kat is a thoughtful host. The yard is nice, lush with elephant ear and fig trees. Location is great. Easy to bus to the French quarter and walk the dog along the Mississippi. Also the yard is fully fenced, so my dog could have outdoor time in total safety. We have a 3/4 ton truck and a 17' trailer. The street is narrow, so just getting lined up took some doing and backing in through the gate was tricky for us. It was a tight squeeze and we were unable to manoeuvre our door far from the fence because of this. If your set up is any bigger than ours, I'd recommend communicating with Kat first before booking. If your rig fits, you're good to go!

Loved this place! I stayed here for three nights while visiting the city. The location is quiet, and the garden adds to the peaceful atmosphere. I felt very safe with the gate locked at night, and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. I highly recommend it!

We absolutely loved our stay at Pelican Gardens! Mark could not have been a more amazing and generous host. The garden is so beautiful and all of the space was just magical! Bathroom was really nice and very clean. Kitchen area was awesome and the whole place was really warm and inviting. The neighborhood is quiet and felt very safe, especially with the gate. Overall just wonderful experience and hope to return!

I absolutely loved camping here! It was a secure area with a gorgeous community garden and sustainable setup. The bathroom/shower was clean and there was plenty of water, space for the tents, and even space to pull our motorcycles into the gated area. Mark was such a gracious host - greeted us, showed us around, and made sure we had everything we needed. I would stay here again and again!

Brit was awesome, greeted me and made me feel incredible welcome yet provided independence on the property. Mark visited once to say hi and seemed generous. There was a nice couple staying in the main shipping container unit who I shared a bathroom / showers with. Felt safe and plenty spacious. Biked to the ferry along the levy at sunset and wow beautiful spot!

Great fenced place in an outstanding jumping off point for exploring the city. The French Quarter is a bike ride away, and during the constant event parking prices, the camp itself is the least expensive place to park, as well as stay. It is great for smaller campers.

Kat's place is amazing. The bus stop isn't far and it's literally 10 minutes away from the French Quarter. She is very nice to speak with and she makes good recommandations. If we ever good back to New Orleans, we'll stay there again!
