The last week of May is hay cutting time, which is a great time to visit our farm! Roaring Shoals Farm is a Black Angus cattle and hay farm. It is a family farm set in the beautiful hills of eastern Kentucky. We have 600 acres of mountains that have amazing views, hiking trails, wildlife and tranquil creeks. Our family would love to welcome you to our farm! The site is close to the road; however there is much woodland to explore located on the property. We have small waterfall and a natural rock formation that can be hiked to.  There is a shoal a very short walk from the campsite that is a wonderful place to enjoy the creek! There is great cellular service if your device uses Verizon towers, as there is a tower on the property.  This is the perfect place to come and relax if you are visiting the area.  It is approximately 12 miles from a small town with local restaurants and convenience stores.   Our farm raised , dry aged black angus beef can be purchased if available; please check availability by calling a few days prior to your stay.  You may also purchase firewood that was harvested from our property which is a certified tree farm.  Our cattle are raised on another of our properties located a few miles up the road.  We would be happy to schedule a time to take you there to see where they are born and raised.

Weekend Trip to The Back Acres by Red River

This was a beautiful little farm to camp for the night. It would also be perfect for someone to make it their base camp to get away from everything then go explore during the day. We spoke with the sweet couple who own the farm when we arrived. They are amazing 💗. We camped next to the barns which housed horses. They were quiet and friendly. It’s a perfect spot if you want privacy away from a campground. It’s considered a single sight so you have all the privacy. Keep in mind, you are on someone’s farm and pretty much in their back yard, and will hear roosters crowing in the morning. However, it is still a private space for you/your group. We still had a fire, stayed up late, and played music 😊

We had a spectacular time!! The land and surrounding area is beautiful. The camp although a little close to the road was flat and the access was easy. The host Amy and her husband we incredibly helpful with out being intrusive at all. The beef was an added bonus! Would recomend leaving with a cooler full!

Gorgeous and so peaceful! The site was fairly level and we had an easy time parking and leaving. The bridge to get there is pretty narrow but we managed just fine. Hosts were friendly and responsive. Definitely recommend!!

Weekend Trip to Roaring Shoals Farm

Amy's farm is in a beautifully setting with very friendly hosts and neighbors. Our children got a kick out of waving at every car that drove past. We did a little hiking up some steep gravel roads and got our feet wet in the clear running spring water. In the evening we found a dark spot along the road to star gaze and watched a pair of bats enjoying a feast of bugs. Our only struggle was with the deer ticks, which we developed a sharp eye for. We would definitely stay again should we find ourselves in the area.
