Primitive campsites range from soft and scenic rolling fields with mountainous backdrops to completely wooded areas with the wild Rockastle River within 1 mile from the property. Discover a rare campsite available between two cliffs that the Native Americans originally called home. It remains just as they found it. There is an easily accessible large flat cliff area perfect for multiple tents and campfires! When you want to get away to nature, what do you envision? We're a family that loves to camp; and while we love a stop at a KOA or community campground, we sometimes crave quiet time in nature without the noise and distraction of other campers. That's what makes The LAAAAND so special. The property is comprised of 50 pristine acres, with a mix of fields and woods, that bump up against another 250 acres owned by our family friends. The southern perimeter of the property is all cliff line, so you feel truly remote. The possibilities of sound pollution are limited to a far-off dog barking, horses being ridden down a nearby trail, or the possible hum of a distant lumber yard. Other than that, you'll mostly hear the wind rustling trees, deer and critters making their way through the woods, and possibly a waterfall at certain times of the year. Oh, and you will absolutely hear whipoorwhills, most likely at a time you'd rather not (we've decided they're charming). Over the nearly 2 decades we've owned this property we have spent countless weekends enjoying the simplest of pleasures; watching butterflies dance in the tree canopy, having dance parties at sunset on the deck, forging new trails and hiking into the unkown, sitting in the truck bed late at night gazing at a star-covered sky counting shooting stars. We had an absolutely amazing time at The LAAAAND. The views were stunning in every direction, and the trails were a blast to hike beautiful, and full of variety. We only had two days to explore and easily could’ve spent a full week out there and still not seen everything. The campsite was peaceful, well stocked with firewood, spacious, and perfect for unplugging. We’ll definitely be back again!

I didn't get to camp bc the weekend i reserved was 20 degrees and i didn't want to do it. I still want to leave a good review because they kept good contact and emails of everything i needed to know on how to get there and a even a video of the road leading up to the camp. Everything about the location, setup, and scenery are absolutely perfect! The little touches of extras was unexpected and definitely welcomed! The grill rack, extra chairs, table were awesome, and the canopy came in clutch when we arrived while it was raining. We brought a couple bundles of wood just in case, and was surprised to see plenty of precut wood to use as well! The short hikes to the cliff and waterfalls are amazing, and the sights were incredible! Just be extra careful if it rains while you are there. Parts of the hike/climbing can be extremely slippery, especially on the more sloped areas. Absolutely would stay here again and again!

Super cool cave off the beaten path. Quiet area, expansive wooded area. Water flows near the entrance to the cave - pretty cool. Nice platform to set tents up on. Functions well as a camp shelter during rain, but can become smoky with a fire going. Cool Hipcamp, would stay again!

No wonder you have 100% on your reviews. The property is beautiful and the view overlooking the Daniel Boone National Forest is amazing. The camping spot was easy to get to with my Pickup truck and 16’ Sunray Sport Camper. The areas to hike and explore are well marked and there’s plenty of rock features to check out. Also not far from the Red River Gorge area to check out the Rock bridge and the Nada tunnel. Thank you for sharing your amazing property!

Very pretty and secluded. Beautiful fall colors, be aware of falling acorns in the fall. The first time one hits you camper its loud 🤣 had some wild turkeys hanging around that were cool. I wish they had a trash can by the gate for when you leave, that would be helpful. We enjoyed our stay and the quite solitude of nature.

1 night at Rockcastle Riverside

This was my first experience with Hipcamp. It was super easy. I followed a winding road with pretty views, pulled in, parked and was good to go. There was a friendly cat and dog by the office to greet me! The bathroom with shower was quite near. I enjoyed seeing the stars so clearly, too. I was even offered hot coffee in the morning! I think that was because it got down to 32 degree that night. Overall it was an easy and pleasant experience.

We loved tent camping on this land not too far from Red River Gorge hiking. The deck offered a great place to sit and watch the sunset. There was a great short path to an overlook, too. Directions were helpful and easy to follow. A very quiet nights rest.

We didn't get to visit the store or go down to the river because we had some much to do in Richmond. We absolutely loved the peace and quiet at the campground. It was the perfect spot, clean, ever just as advertised!!!! Nice hot shower and clean bathroom!!! We definitely want to go back!!!!!!

We arrived after dark after Google maps to us the wrong way down a logging road that doesn't access the campground at all. Putting in the address instead of launching directions from the app will get you there easily, though. The sites were all nice and easy to find, even in the dark.

Weekend Trip to The Harrican

My parents and my family of 5 camped for 2 nights in our small RVs at Harrican. Upon arrival, Bridgett led us to the sunset lookout spot to setup. It was so pretty and private. We had plenty of flat space to hang and play. We walked to the mile long river hike other reviewers have noted. It was a perfect total length (3.2 miles) and a water feature is always a hit on hikes with the kids. I would definitely recommend this special secluded spot to friends!

Weekend Trip to The Harrican

This property is absolutely beautiful — full of rolling hills, wide-open views, and big, mature trees that make it feel tucked away and peaceful. The layout gives everyone plenty of space; even with other campers on site, it felt private and quiet. We camped at the top of the hill with a few tents and one small camper. The drive up has a little terrain to navigate, but it wasn’t difficult at all — we even made it in the dark without trouble. You’ll be greeted by a couple of friendly, playful dogs when you arrive, so be sure to drive slowly through the entrance. The hosts were fantastic — very friendly and quick to respond to every message. It really made the experience feel welcoming and easy. There’s also a nice trail within walking distance that leads down to the river. It’s a moderately rugged path but totally worth it, with a great spot to relax once you reach the bottom. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic spot with kind hosts and plenty of space to unwind, this Hipcamp is a gem. We’d definitely come back!

This is a very quiet and peaceful place. The only thing near the campsite is a small house being built away in the trees. I’m going back this weekend with my sister and partner, the sunrise campsite is beautiful and we want to stay at the cave campsite when it’s warmer out. They have been very nice as my first visit I booked the wrong campsite and they corrected it with no fuss. 10/10 recommended.
