We’re a pet-friendly property because we know adventures are better with your furry friends. Campfires are welcome, and we even provide firewood to make your evenings extra cozy. You’ll also find portable toilets and two centrally located showers (naturally warmed by the sun!) for your convenience.
IMPORTANT: We do not accept late-night bookings or late arrivals. All guests must arrive by 6 PM local time.

Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

There was a Chili Cook-Off and Halloween party going on while we were there and it was so much fun. I would highly recommend this location to anyone. The river itself is beautiful to look at but shallow and very silty so not great for kids wanting to swim or play in the water.

The host was beyond amazing ~ and her place was nothing short of that. Sycamore Cove is a beautiful retreat on the Cumberland River, but still very easily accessible without 4-wheel drive long as you have a lick of sense. I highly recommend staying here, and I highly recommend the experiences that are offered, as well as those farm fresh eggs...she has a genuine love for her animals and takes such good care of them ~ I will definitely be back, and in the meantime, I will be singing her praises 🏕 5 out of 5 stars 🌟

Sycamore Cove is a spectacular site; right on the river, private, peaceful, it’s a little a slice of paradise. Although primitive there are facilities close by, and they deliver your firewood right to your campsite. Highly recommend staying here !

Amber's property was a breath of fresh air! Taking a break with my cat Sparkie at her campsite was just what we needed along our travels. My own personal camp site was delightful and fully equipped with picnic tables, a relaxing swing chair, and a perfect little hideout between the trees. It was such a nice surprise that she offers a fully equipped bathroom and hot shower. Also she recommended I take a walk by the river even though my campsite was not by the river which made for a lovely evening stroll. Amber is warm and welcoming and her property is peaceful and beautiful. Thank you for your Hospitality Amber!

Weekend Trip to Barren River Magic
The peace pipe is a campers refuge! I loved the lower level sitting area, brought along flowers and a tablecloth and it made for a beautiful meditation/yoga sanctuary. The upstairs sleeping loft was a reprieve from the heat and had the best views of the land! Mostly, we spent our free time star gazing and strolling the river. It was an amazing getaway and we can't wait to come back!
