The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by.
The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees.
Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people.
There is also a composting toilet on site.
Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffee perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower!
We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store, bar and grill and liquor store. Also, located just 15 miles from Little Swedon, Lindsborg, KS. Great shopping and museums, art galleries for you enjoyment!

My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how. For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture. In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt. Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store. Come and spend some time at a direct-to-consumer dairy farm. Our cows are called Dutch Belted. They are often referred to as Oreo cows. Stay on the farm where the milk is produced, processed, and sold. The farm store is a short distance away and sells a large variety of farm foods.
The farm consists of about 200 acres of pasture and creek bottom. The owner, Loyd, has lived on the farm all his life.
We are right beside what used to be a Navy base... yeah in Kansas.:) The runway still gets used for gliders. So you might see a glider being pulled up while you are here.

The camping here is dreamy with vast Kansan big sky views! Stars, quiet, sunset, and sunrise. And the birds! The morning song is so lovely.
The silo is something to see! Matthew is a kind and knowledgeable host; I highly recommend the tour. Learning the history and then peeking into the past definitely scratched my ‘War Games’ memories. Then seeing his work making a gorgeous space inside has put a Silo Stay on my bucket list!

Beautiful spot! Tom, our host was attentive and welcoming. He even gave us a tour of his beautiful log home he built almost exclusively! The camp spot was just right. We had a nice walk around his property (ask about the toilet in the field) , enjoyed time with his sweet husky, and slept well in a quiet setting. The sunrise was lovely. Thanks Tom and Heddy!

My stay at Beverly‘s place was amazing. It was very peaceful and quiet. There’s lots of cool features on the farm and interesting history. Next time I go back I’m going to stay for longer and check out some of the local trails in towns. Beverly was an excellent host and accommodating. My dog got along well with her two dogs as well!

We loved staying here! Matthew and Dozer were great and so welcoming. It was so refreshing to meet someone with so much passion for what he does. The camp site was great, private but close enough to the amenities. We would 100% stay here again in the future to see the progress with the site.
We spend 2 night, and both days spent some time at the Wilson lake which was only about 15 min away.

Such a clean and well maintained property with beautiful views in all directions. Tent sites are tucked into the trees to protect from the Kansas wind and provide some privacy. The tour of the silo is fascinating and Matthew makes the experience educational as well as entertaining. Dozer the dog is friendly and chill but not overbearing. Would definitely recommend!

This was even cooler than I expected and a highlight of my road trip from Portland, OR to St. Louis and back. This was a beautiful spot to park my new teardrop trailer for a night, and I loved listening to Meadowlarks and watching a distant lightning storm, but the tour was fantastic. It was interesting to learn about the Atlas program and see the missile silo, but I was inspired by the sustainability project Matthew is getting started. I'm so glad I stayed here, and I hope I can make it back again in the future.

Tom met us after a long drive to set us up in pure heaven. Loved the wildlife, mocking birds and dog friendly atmosphere.
Roasted our veggies and fish on the grill then set us up with the best bonfire pit.
Slept so well under the big full moon and Jupiter rising. We were the first of the season and will return in 2 weeks on our drive home to Vermont

My wife and I stopped by for a night at Beverly’s on our way to Oklahoma City. She was extremely communicative and accommodating. We arrived extremely late and she waited up for us and even greeted us with snacks. Her land was beautiful and had plenty of room for our dog, Wyatt, to run free. Would recommend her land to anyone traveling on I70/ I135. Will definitely be staying again!
