I become owner of this property in 2017. The cabins were built in the late 90's financed by the previous owner. The property was vacant for decades prior to that. In the 1950's, the property was a drive-in motel called the 'Harbert Motel'. We have an arial photo from this time period which showed a number of small bungalows for guests, each with its own carport. I love all the stories I hear from locals who have been around long enough to remember how things 'used to be'.
Southwest Michigan has an interesting history and has been a 'destination' from city dwellers for close to 100 years. Even Al Capone and his goon's frequented the area as they moved illegal good during the days of prohibition.

When we bought this property in 2013, it was a little run down. Many years ago, it housed sheep and cows. We revamped our little 15-acre farm and continue to improve its looks. Now it is our home and houses my riding stable. Many people have commented on how nice it is. I thought this would be a great opportunity to share its beauty and the animals with others.

We have 3 spots to pitch a tent, but we're pretty flexible. If you see another area, please ask!. Site "Woods" is most secluded. We now have a cabin!! Our "Chalet". It will sleep 4 and has some great amenities. The others are around our grassy barnyard area where you're able to enjoy all of our different animals!. All sites are 2-5 mins from the main house. You will be staying on our horse farm. We have many chickens, bunnies, a potbelly pig, feeder pigs (depending on the time of year), and our 4 house dogs. We offer overnight equine amenities as well. There are 2 showering options and restroom available.
You can enjoy a small fire (weather dependent) or listen to the crickets and frogs under the starry night. Actually, you can do it all. We offer trail rides on the horses as well, (extra charges). You can even book a trip to the state park to ride the horse trails, which is only 15 minutes away. There is a great fishing lake less than 1 mile from the farm, so bring your poles and kayaks. Or rent ours!
There is a Dollar General, 2 gas stations, and a liquor store in our tiny little town if you forget anything. Walmart is 12 minutes North of us.

The tiny home was crafted to blend in with the scenery and to impact the surrounding trees and fields as little as possible. Relax indoors while taking in the view from the couch or enjoy a glass of wine on the front porch or one of the hammocks. We have three potbelly pigs that enjoy company as well as chickens and a turkey. Deer frequent through the campsite and surrounding area as well.

Welcome to Lochloosa River Retreat—your home away from home along the beautiful Tippecanoe River! Nestled on 6 peaceful acres, our hobby farm offers primitive tent camping, dry RV sites, a River View RV lodging site (RV included) and a cozy cabin stay in the Zen Shed—perfect for families, paddlers, and nature lovers looking to unwind. At full capacity, we can host up to 60 people and also offer group hosting.
Paddle, float, and explore! We offer kayak and tubing trips on a scenic stretch of the river—message us to get on the float schedule.
Guest enjoy playing in the shallow creek that winds through the property, as well as relaxing at camp, listening to the sounds of running water and a fire, or playing and cooling off in our saltwater pool complete with a slide and diving board. Wildlife is abundant, so bring your binoculars for birdwatching or cast a line from the riverbank.
Want more comfort? Book a stay in the Zen Shed, our rustic riverside cabin or the River View RV for the ultimate glamping comfort—both perfect for a peaceful, unplugged getaway with real beds and front-row views of nature.
Located near Lake Maxinkuckee and the charming town of Culver, there’s plenty to explore just a short drive away. There are also a few nature preserves nearby as well as a new Bark Park! A nearby country store (2 miles) offers pizza, chicken, ice, and other essentials.

This is a nice travel trailer that has two bunk beds in the rear, a dinette and couch that converts to sleepers, and a front bedroom with a queen size bed. Sheets/blankets are supplied, clean towels for up to four people are provided. There is a fire pit, charcoal grill (you have to supply your own charcoal) and gazebo that you can use. Although you are on the lake, you do not have direct access to the lake. Parking is located on the grassy area across the road from the lot. The campground is between the highway and train, so you will hear both day and night with a lot of golf cart traffic. Guest must follow all campground rules, no refunds will be issued. You will have access to all the amenities of the park including use of the pools, beach, and park. Cost of the miniature golf course is not included. There is a restaurant at the park that serves fast food and deserts.

Created with the intention of slowing down (no tv, no wifi and no refrigerator), enjoy wandering the fields relaxing in one of the hammocks, cooking on the outdoor fire pit, sipping coffee on the front deck and generally taking a break from modern life. If you'd like to explore the area, we are nearby popular trails and bike routes, U-pick farms, breweries & restaurants and beaches along Lake Michigan.

******The term "glamping" means "glamorous camping" with an emphasis on camping. The tiny home and bathroom provide a comfortable and modern experience while still allowing the feel of rustic and outdoorsy traditional camping. All of your cooking will be done outside with our propane cooktop, grill or fire pit. There is a wash station on the back deck for washing dishes. *******
The tiny home was crafted to blend in with the scenery and to impact the surrounding trees and fields as little as possible. The loft includes a cozy queen bed with plush pillows and linens and the living space has a pull out sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress. Relax indoors while taking in the view from the couch or enjoy a glass of wine on the front porch or one of the hammocks. Just steps away, the tiny home has a separate private bathroom with heated outdoor shower.
We have three potbelly pigs that enjoy company as well as chickens and a turkey. Deer frequent through the campsite and surrounding area as well.
This is an operating farm so the owners and employees are in the fields tending to the plants, washing, and packing produce throughout the week. You may hear people talking or the occasional tractor in a nearby field. The farm is certified naturally grown and works with the USDA on land management.

Weekend Trip to The Sugar Shack
We loved coming here and meeting the different farm animals, enjoying the quiet and the peaceful country side. The Sugar Shack is spacious inside (4 adults could sleep comfortably, two in the loft and two under if needed) but still very cozy feeling. We enjoyed using the wood stove for cooking and heat. The table for our meals and games was appreciated too. There is a basic pit toilet just behind the shack. The animals were also excited to greet us whenever we stepped outside. Melanie is a very attentive host and checked that we had everything we needed, she ran an electric cord to the shack for us, brought us a 5 gallon water jug and made sure to point out where we could get more firewood from.

The bungalo at Melissa's alpaca farm was fantastic. I stayed 2 weeks before Christmas, and even when the weather was bitter cold, I stayed warm and comfortable in bed with a heated blanket. I'll be back with a larger group this summer. This is great for a little personal hideaway, or for larger events like family reunions.

The place looked great when we arrived, especially lit up at night. Inside, it had that familiar campfire-and-wood smell that made it feel comfortable right away. The heated blanket was the saving grace of the stay. It was in the 30s, and the small radiator heater struggled to keep up, so most of the evening was spent bundled up together under the blanket.
The cabin is very small, and the property itself isn’t large either, so you can hear some street noise. Being close to town was convenient, though. We grabbed Chinese carry-out and it was surprisingly good after a cold day.
Leslie was thrilled to meet the alpacas, which added a fun moment to the trip. There are several areas set up for groups, and I would definitely come back with friends. The space works well for hanging out and enjoying a simple, low-key getaway.

Had a wonderful weekend at Bloomin Farm. The campsite was well tended and Melissa had left the wood we purchased near the fire pit as well as a lovely welcome sign and flowers. We had our own compost toilet and in warmer weather there is a hot shower tent on the campsite as well. There is some road noise but it was not bothersome at all. And our second night the farm hosted a Halloween event with food and live music, which was great fun and Melissa gave us plenty of warning so we knew it was happening. Would definitely stay there again!

The camp is beautiful, even at the end of the season. 2 of the 5 of us had never camped before and it was all 3 kids favorite place we stayed (over 6 nights throughout Michigan, a different town each day). My partner and I took our three teenage nephews (and dog) and we had the most fun, peaceful weekend at Blooming Bus Farms. This was the perfect place for nature lovers who enjoy some comforts of home. Melissa was incredibly accommodating and quick to respond, and made us feel welcome before setting foot on the land. She let us meet their sweet and funny alpacas, which was a real treat for us city dwellers. The entire property is enchanting and our campsite truly became our home for a couple days. We will be coming back for a couple’s trip, and the boys are already asking if we can take them again. 10 out of 10!

We had a wonderful stay. Nice to have a getaway like this so close to the city. We enjoyed the site- absolutely beautiful view of ponies and goats. Camper was worn and comfortable and very well stocked. There’s some highway noise but it becomes like white noise- I didn’t notice it really. Weekend Trip to Lochloosa River Retreat
My fiancée and I loved our weekend getaway at Nichole’s site. She was very welcoming & gave us a tour of the camp site. The area was very clean & was a perfect spot for us to disconnect from the city life. She even offered the river tubing ride which we also HIGHLY recommend. It was definitely the highlight of our trip. Nicole was also very quick on her responses and helped us with the questions we had.

The property is very well maintained. It is a lovely property and Earl and Lisa were very responsive checking in on me to be sure I had firewood and delivering my eggs. It was nice having a hot shower and the bathroom was squeaky clean. I would definitely recommend this Hip Camp.
