There are lots of places to visit while you are here. Two large lakes with free public access are about 40 miles away - Lake Loramie and Grand Lake St. Marys. Lake Loramie has a public beach, bicycle rentals, canoes and kayaks. There is a great restaurant across from the State Park.

More about the location: 45 acres of combined farmland, prairie reserve, and forest--Pirate Woods is the perfect location for a getaway that still has nearby access to rural community amenities. This property is located 5 minutes from I-70 and 30-45 minutes from downtown Indianapolis. You can also access Knightstown via U.S. 40. Learn more about this land: If you are here in the spring through fall, you can expect a "sea of green". We are surrounded by corn, soybeans or some other mid-west crop. It's quiet out here, so enjoy the sunshine. We put out a large garden each year and we'd love your help. Right now, we can only offer primitive camping. Our electric is not operational. If there has been a lot of rain (April and part of May), then the ground is too soft for camping. However, if you just need a spot we have some gravel driveways where you can set up. There are lots of places to visit while you are here. Two large lakes with free public access are about 40 miles away - Lake Loramie and Grand Lake St. Marys. Lake Loramie has a public beach, bicycle rentals, canoes and kayaks. There is a great restaurant across from the State Park.

Loved this spot… although we made a mistake and had planned for an electric hookup for heat. We stayed one night anyway and loved having even a short time on this property. The farm was really an incredible property. We brewed coffee on the provided propane stove and enjoyed a quiet morning on the swing by the creek while enjoying our hot coffee. It felt like a happy accident that we accidentally stumbled on a site that we’ll return to with our solar panels for a boondocking trip in the future. And If you are a tent camper, this spot is one of the best we’ve seen, hands down. Book now!

Definitely recommend booking this campsite! It was a lovely property, including highland cows (a baby was born just a few weeks ago!), the farmhouse, and the campsite itself. There is a great fire pit, picnic table, outhouse, and porch swing - what more could you need! The stream next to the campsite was so peaceful to sleep to. The owners were very kind and even surprised us with some cookies when we checked in. Cannot wait to book again!

Our tent camping getaway was a dream!! Plenty of space to enjoy board games or cards at the picnic table, cook on the provided propane stove top, or chat around the stone lined fire pit! This place was decked out with so many bells and whistles! The entire property is beautifully maintained and the host was an interesting and witty man. The outhouse was uber clean and had a water source (bath and body works pump soap! Bonus!) with a sink for washing and rinsing! The camp site location was nestled in a cozy cocoon alongside a stream and surrounded by trees, but just a quick walk to hike trails, visit chickens (yes, you can buy fresh eggs!) peacocks, bulls and a couple pot bellied pigs! We were given homemade cookies and pup treats in adorable packaging upon arrival and I’m here to say….we are already planning our next trip!! See you in the Spring, Vaughn! Could go on and on!! Just splendid!

3 nights at Quiet Creek Valley

This camp spot is perfect for rural camping but close to convenience! Hueston woods is 7 minutes away, the oldest national forest and park in Ohio with a beach and excellent bike trails. The hostess/host are hospitable and if you have friendly dogs, off leash is the way to go here. The creek is very close, easy to wade in or inner tubing and has easy access. You can also fit a small camper or tents (recommend cots) and the hosts are very accommodating. I will definitely be back!
