I was able to stay last minute- they were easy to contact and friendly - though I never met them in person. It’s not particularly picturesque but it was a good location and nice to have a bathroom in the shop. Some sweet cows said hi to me in the morning too.

Great alternative to staying in the City of Rocks park itself. Close enough to commute into the park for activities while being kind to the pocket book. Also closer to the local swimming hole and pizza place. The hosts are thoughtful with their amenities including a hot shower, a clean outhouse, and garbage services (something the park quit offering).

First time seeing The City of Rocks and I'm really glad to have stayed at this campground. There are places just down the road to pick up a few extra supplies and just in case you're wondering, I think there's pretty decent cell service in this area. I appreciate the thorough driving directions.

This a beautiful horse farm. Very quiet. With beautiful sunsets. Full HU. But not posh. There are several full timers. More like temporary housing. BUT they are good people. The site is not very level. You will need to level. I was not able to get 100% but 90% isn’t awful for my camper. I was only staying 3 days. BUT o my goodness. 13 miles away and you can be at Snake River Canyon for kayaking. Very nice. Host is easily accessible. And the horses are 20 feet from the camp site.

We really enjoyed our stay. We have a very large tent. Host helped us choose the site where it would fit. Area is quiet and peaceful with easy access to City of Rocks and Castle Rocks. We aren't climbers but really enjoyed the hiking and spectacular scenery. Pit toilets were very clean and in built into a cute rustic structure. Shower was terrific. Great instructions all around the property. Town of Almo is tiny but has a a visitors center for the area, great ice cream and a pizza place with a huge selection of craft beers and ciders. Hope we get back to this beautiful remote part of Idaho in the future.

For RVs / Travel Trailers - - Our primary site has water and full 50amp service. We are able to provide a converter for from 30 to 50amp for this spot. - Our secondary spot is a covered RV Bay with water and 30amp service. This spot is large enough for the tallest 5th wheels and your slide outs. - Utilities are $35/night. We do not allow generators. For Tent / Car Camping - - Our primary spot for tent camping is on the front lawn, alongside the house. - We have a 1/2 bathroom with a toilet and sink available We are a private home, not a public RV park or campground, which means we, the owners, live on the property and occasionally work here during the day, including in our shop where the shared half bathroom is located. While this bathroom is a shared amenity, it is not a requirement for us to provide it. We offer several spots for our guests and may host more than one party at a time. The Retreat Juniper Tent/Van sites sit at the base of Green's Mountain nestled among the Junipers and Pinion pines. You will stay just outside the entrance to the City of Rocks National Reserve off the road that connects it to Castle Rocks State Park. Enjoy all the fun of camping under the stars with an amazing secluded location at the entrance to the City of Rocks. Enjoy Rock Climbing, Bouldering, Hiking, Biking, Fishing, and Hot Springs, all within a 5 minute drive! The Park is full all summer but you will have your own quiet base camp 2 minutes away.  Sit around the fire pit at night and gaze at the amazing star filled sky. Sites 8, 9, and 10 are all in the same private forested area and great for groups but still separated for plenty of privacy. Each site has a level tent pad, parking area for a car or van (car/van camping ok), and access to potable water, bathrooms, and garbage. We have now added a 15amp plug to each site to provide power for things like phone and laptop charging, air pump, medical devices, or other basics at no charge. Camper vans, or other vehicles that want to plug in to the power will need to pay an additional $5/day electric fee. No EV charging. Parking is allowed right at camp but no vehicles bigger than a van (20ft), and no trailers. No mosquitos here! PET FRIENDLY! This land has been in our family over 100 years. The Retreat has the closest campsites to the City of Rocks.

The River Lodge Resort property is just under 4 acres on the river with 200 feet of river frontage. There is a dock for guest use and a shallow area with stairs to it for wading and kayak/Paddleboard launch. There are lifejackets, towels, chairs and tables in the small barn by the river for guest use. Lots of pine trees for tent camping and plenty of gravel area for RV parking. There are two private homes on the property as well (owners and guest house).Learn more about this land:Riverside camping has 200 feet of river frontage. You can camp away from the river’s edge or right by the water, some terrain is sloped. Loose gravel RV parking also available. There is one outdoor, half bathroom (no shower). We have a dock available for guest use. We have three kayaks and two paddle boards available for guest use as well as lifejackets. No lifeguard on duty! There is a designated fire pit by the river. Sunsets are beautiful and mornings are peaceful, afternoons sound like a little bit of a party with all the boats on the water. You definitely get the feeling you’re on vacation here. Close to City of Rocks, mountainous bike trails, side-by-side riding, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, golf course just across the river and plenty of water sports. No boat launch on property.
